Please read everything before commenting What if Little Orbit: - deletes APB Reloaded completely (including accounts, progress etc.) - develops the game entirely from scratch with Unreal Engine 4/5 - compensates every player after release of the new game with the amount of credits they spend in the old version of APB This way devs don't have to waste their time by working through junk code from RTW/G1 times. Instead they focus on developing the game on current technology with clean code. Also it might be easier to find new employees since new blood devs are more likely to have learned working with newer versions of Unreal Engine rather then older versions. And with the compensation, starting from beginning won't be a big deal for players since they can re-purchase everything. And they can re-explore the game with all it's new features and optimizations while working their way back to the top.

I guess you fail to understand the IMMENSE popularity of Fairfight bans and the flame forum where an aggrieved population could actually verbalize how it REALLY felt towards the cheater population. It was a valiant attempt that was quite popular. This new code of no one dare call out cheaters or hurt their feelings... and mass unbanning while failing in every respect to implement ANY sort of useful anticheat mechanism... is actually the dumbest damn way to manage a game like APB. And the FAILURE of it is in the POPULATION STATISTICS. Hey, Tiggs managed to ban 14,000 accounts... she seems to have lost her mind at some point and banned nearly everybody but it was a valiant effort... COMPARE IT TO THE NOTHING WE HAVE NOW AND THE RAGEBOT CHEATFEST ONGOING. LO failed so damn hard it's ludicrous to argue on their behalf. And Matt Scott can only DREAM about 14,000 accounts to ban when only some 400 are left that bother to log in and play.

a bit ironic considering which one of us is actually writing walls of text i've been here since the beginning, a majority of that "new content" was just stuff that rtw never managed to get around to adding because the company went under g1 hiring some rtw devs just means it was even easier to work with said content, nothing more nothing less apb had "dramatically better" population under g1, and that's only because g1 didn't have to deal with the prior company doing its very best to exploit that population for the better part of 8 years how long did g1 promise the engine upgrade while occasionally adding another predatory lootbox gun for the hopeful population to buy? a whole lot longer than orbit has even owned apb you can just look at steam stats to see the truth, g1 took a game that was nearing 6k peak players and by the time they sold it to orbit that same peak was barely over 1k, that's why we have virtually no population g1 did come up against the same problem but instead of trying to fix it, they decided to just go after the quick bucks and slammed as much profit oriented code on top until the game could barely handle any more, and then they sold it g1 dumped punkbuster, but of course they waited until it got to the point (iirc it was around the time punkbuster started banning everyone that attempted to log in) that even they couldn't deny it was worthless i have no idea where you pulled 4k from but steam charts says apb pop was in a long decline to nearly 1k at the time of sale - that's something like 80% population loss under g1 these are both servers that little orbit didnt even have, colby died and was merged with joker long before little orbit showed up i'll agree that frost seemed a decent anticheat, but with straight up p2w armas items and massive player GM scandals i don't think innova is really worthy as a role model that was g1 innova pulled the plug in early 2017 iirc and g1 waited so long to migrate accounts that most innova players just rerolled fresh to citadel, so when g1 finally got around to migration they basically just created a russian version of han because not many people cared about their innova accounts by then pretty sure innova decided apb wasn't profitable enough and that's why they didnt renew their licensing, probably not interested in buying the entire game

-apb is a team based game at its core, i dont think its unreasonable to lean into that with higher ttks, especially when there will eventually be a matchmaking system capable of separating premade and solos -weapons considered trash because of higher ttks are considered so because of the disparity between average/meta ttk and and their own higher ttk, if the average ttk was lengthened this disparity would lessen -increasing ttk by lowering damage (missed shots are pess punishing) or decreasing rof (less chance of shots falling between frames) would lessen the effects of poor network code, not that the game should be balanced around such a thing anyway -weapons would need to be rebalanced regardless, theres no reason that bloom and spread would not be taken into account i think a longer ttk would allow for more accurate weapons as well, as minimum ttk moving closer to effective ttk would mean weapons dont need the artificial rng the current ttk requires overall im not certain i support a longer ttk, while it would have a lot of benefits i think the biggest obstacle would be many players finding the slower game pace less fun than other shooters

What should dictate the weapon meta?

Let me preface this by saying that I do not intend to offend or devalue anyone, not LO, not the SPCT nor the players. This is simply constructive criticism and a reality check which Little Orbit desperately need now more than ever before their game is forced to shut down. Please don't take personal offense by anything I've written here. I cannot speak confidently about lowering or increasing TTK as that'd need extensive testing but I liked most of G1's balancing. I liked having less bloom with the current TTK and I think that most good players were fine with that. And yes, I am talking about the good players who put the most effort and time into learning the game and have the highest winrates and K/D ratios because that is, objectively, what makes a player good at a PvP game. And specifically in APB, due to its low population and high % of cheaters, I'd say that reputation also plays a big role in who should have a say on the matter. As in, that they should be widely recognised as a good player throughout the community (not just simply "popular" or "well known" as a name). And believe me when I say that I mean no offense to lesser players (yes, even if you are low-mid gold) but objectively, the high/top players should have the loudest voices in regards to balancing in every game. I want to stress that you're no less valuable as players but the people who've put the most time and effort in a game will understand it best and will know what needs adjusting better than anyone else. That's just the truth of it. Little Orbit have taken the wrong approach of catering to lesser players however, which inevitably hurts the health of the game in the long term. In fact, we are currently seeing that happen in Apex Legends where Respawn have announced that they will be removing a movement mechanic called "tap-strafing" because it is a high skill ceiling mechanic and requires hundreds of hours to master to be used at its maximum potential. All of that in an attempt to cater to more casual players who would likely spend more money on cosmetics but will not have the time/willingness to sit down and master such a mechanic or skill. This announcement insantly became a sh*tstorm on twitter overnight, becoming their most retweeted tweet of all time and it was 90%+ super negative backlash on the decision. We're seeing the exact same thing happening here, starting from the N-TEC 5 and then looking at other weapons which are being dumbed down more and more in favor of players who cannot/do not want to try to keep up with the highest level. The quality of the gunplay in APB is deteriorating at a rapid pace and the fault lies with management and who is being allowed to make changes to it. I also find it fascinating that its been 3 years of total and utter balancing failure and they've yet to change who is in charge of it or who they take advice from. I am willing to bet that not a single employee of Little Orbit really plays APB and they rely solely on the advice of the people who've won the popularity contest that was the SPCT recruitment when LO restarted the SPCT program again. If you haven't noticed, the majority of the SPCT consists/consisted of people that were talking to Matt the most when he joined the unofficial APB discord server back in the day regardless of how active they are in the game or how qualified they are for the position. Then more people were invited based on just being (mostly) liked in the community and not on actually having something to provide to the game. It seems to me like some of the SPCTs (not all) are only really in it to wave around their badge and feel high and mighty because they've been chosen but they don't actually know what is best for the game. They are in this unique position where their voices matter more than the rest of the playerbase and they are able to shape the game more the way they see fit than what the game actually needs. Again, not everyone in the SPCT is like this, but some of them definitely are. The SPCT needs carefully picked out high/top tier players who would be in charge of balancing and then the rest will be set to different tasks where they are the strongest. And if the fault doesn't actually lie within the SPCT then that's probably even worse because I'm willing to bet that no one that works at LO is exactly an APB enthusiast who's taken it upon themselves to become really good at the game on their private account and then be the one dealing with balancing behind the scenes. Bottom line is that balancing should be mostly reverted to what we had before LO started fiddling with it, except for things like the Yukon firerate fix and HVR damage nerf and it should remain that way until the Engine Upgrade is done, working and released with a proper build. -
Redeem code gives 1 G1C. I imagine because they had to make it give something but mostly just wanted to flag the accounts that had entered it.

I don't care how many bans BE do because those bans occoure ingame, the fact that EAC prevented logging into the game with cheat client encouraged those players to think twice and maybe log in without cheats, BE banning people who managed to go to fightclub/missions and ruin a few peoples experience dared to cheat but dont give them second chance to think twice like EAC did before logging in is bad enough and it encourages them to open new accounts to do more damage with our low population, after all LO is all about second chances and retaining population, most of the people who got unbanned from Fairfight list still play the game to your knowing. Most of the community agrees on that BE is worse, like it or no it isn't in your power to change that opinion. Mind me most of the current SPCT team is one-track minded and Delusional, seems to me like they dont play the game at all.

---------------------------------------------------------------------- Good to hear the bug has been fixed and that BattlEye now functions as intended. The real concern is that any progress done on BattlEye or any other anti-cheat won't fix the two root causes of cheaters in APB: 1- There is a talented person out there who unfortunately, uses their talent to produce cheats for games, APB included. Them cheats will then get distributed among Cheaters. Sadly, there is no stopping this. 2- The process of making a new account is simply too convenient and lenient.. Cheaters will either test cheats on new accounts or blatantly just cheat on these accounts because their entertainment lies in cheating. They don't really care about account-progression and thus, fixing & improving BattlEye is nothing but too much work to induce a small delay to their entertainment. While it is virtually impossible to prevent Cheaters from working around to cheat more, it is still possible to make a portion of them consider cheating in another game via adding actual inconveniences to making new accounts that will affect Cheaters and Cheaters only. For example, require new accounts from this point onward to submit a working phone-number for verification by SMS that can only be used once. Yes, SIM cards are cheap, but they still require payment unlike new E-mails. Some countries also require presenting ID-cards and other information before acquiring a new SIM & will add fees. There are games that started doing this and nothing wrong with APB doing the same. Cheaters complained about those games implementing this and it was nothing short of a spectacular sight. Little Orbit must take further measures than just making an anti-cheat detect cheats. If it drives some Cheaters away, that's good riddance & a success.

I've barely been following this thread as I didn't realise that its still active but I'd like to elaborate a bit on the current situation we find ourselves in. Easy Anti-Cheat was easily the best thing that had happened to APB in it's entire history. The game had never been more playable until that point. I used to play for hours on end every day and I wouldn't meet any cheaters or I'd see one every 2 weeks or like one a month. It was an absolute blessing considering that cheating is one of the top all-time problems of APB. That period was the best and most playable under LO, especially prior to some of the brainless weapon changes that came to be during that time. We swapped back to Battleye while knowing full well that Battleye is a significantly worse anti-cheat and that it does not meet the requirements of APB. I mean, we had it literally right before changing to EAC and we knew that it didn't work and it still doesn't, we had originally upgraded for a reason. I've heard multiple different versions of the same story of why the switch back happened exactly but thats beside the point. Battleye is extremely slow and seems to lack a lot of the protection that EAC provided. An anti-cheat needs to be much faster in detecting cheaters and BE simply isn't able to keep up. This becomes clear when you notice how long it takes for rage speedhackers and silent aimers to get banned. It can take up to a week which is just astonishingly bad considering that there isn't even a fraction of an attempt to hide their cheats and a single glance by any living human being can tell instantly what is going on. This simply wasn't a thing with EAC. You wouldn't see those certain russian rerolls on EU that play on a brand new trainee account every week with nicknames you cannot possibly even begin to attempt to pronounce who minttk and obliterate everything in their path with just a stock N-TEC 5 and FBW either. The reason an anti-cheat needs to be fast, especially in such an old F2P game is because you cannot permanently stop a person from making a new account and logging in to cheat. IP bans and HWID bans are useless as most of the experienced, dedicated cheaters (both ragers and closets) know how to bypass and spoof all of these detections and head right in. EAC had what APB needed for the most part and we pretty much threw it away and paved way for the old cheaters to come back, who btw started popping up practically instantly on day 1 of being back to BE, going full force. Unfortunately, I cannot name any names but if you play in EU silver districts and pay literally any attention at all, you know them. Now think of how long it takes to detect an experienced closet. Well, we still have a whole bunch playing actively on EU who are going full force on their mains (and even tend to stream it) and don't seem to be bothered by BE in the slightest. All in all, the situation seems to only be going downhill from here. It feels like we're one foot in FFbans territory again but without the false manual banning by corrupt G1 employees and without the forum which documented and advertised every ban with comments on it, that also had ads all over it in order to pretty much profit from APB toxicity and from people with nothing going on in their lives who tried their best to ruin other people's lives through doxxing and other illegal and immoral means. Thanks, whoever the creators of that cesspool were again, I'm sure you made some money off of everyone else's suffering. At the end of the day, I firmly believe that if LO had the option to overpay for whatever services EAC could provide to APB it would have still been a much better business decision long-term instead of switching to an anti-cheat that just doesn't have what it takes for a problematic game such as APB. Of course, I don't know the exact situation or differences in pricing, etc. But I feel like that was a part of our saving grace and we just flushed it down the toilet. TL;DR: EAC > BE

Some PUBG bans show as, 1 game ban 1 VAC ban, on your steam account. Had a teammate get banned. No bans prior to the PUBG, and PUBG was the only game on their steam profile. They had both on their profile immediately after. Yes, they were not banned by VAC, but it prevents you from playing in VAC protected games. Not saying this teammate was legit or not, just saying that these systems shouldn't be linked. They're run by different companies with different detection methods. You can't trust that both will be 100% accurate.

Agreed. It should be much harder to get silver, and easier to get gold. ridiculous the way i yo-yo, I'll win n dethreat to bronze, or loose but kill a couple, n I'm silver. As far as hacks go. there are a few, n just like the rest of us, they have multiple characters an or accounts. So what may look like boat loads of haxers is simply 3-4 dirtbags coming in and cycling thru their characters. Then they group together or are teamed by MM, so one on the gold team might toggle or bot, and to the opponent its all of em , guilty by association.

Be careful what you reveal, account sharing is against the rules.

This is the only old school game who has the most population on the planet. Everyone who cry about the game, are still playing it over years and they not gona uninstall it. Cheaters who got 9999999+ accounts banned are still playing it. Forum Trolls, Toxic players and players who just get farmed like pokemons are still playing it. Matt Scott who gives a shit about the game and waiting every day only for his money is still silent and not gona give up. -And the End- -> We all fine, no problems here

They took out all the anticheats, eac being too advanced for apb and too expensive, Battle Eye is only protection for Them, in that it reduces ddos, which is a good thing but its not an anticheat. Then they listened basically forum trolls Desegregated, letting golds into bronze at the golds request. More than half if not 3/4 of them golds are closets or blatants. Lot of them will disagree with me n say im just a poor player, so lets be devils advocate n we'll reduce that percentage to 1/3 or less. OK then U add in that each hack has 5 or more characters or accounts, switching thru the day. All of the chars are gold and or hinky named, so this gives the impression that Loads of hackers are playing. Now I know allot of golds are legit, skilled players. However most of you are New to me in that you dint play in bronze before. So I don't know you, then I've got multiple names to consider. But L.O. expects Me the Client to be the Games Policeman, Private Detective, and Guard-House Lawyer. That's not my Job, and it's not my problem. It's LO's problem. But they see it as player retention. So what if they loose a few legits, they already have my money. Sure Mack, Quit. Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

I'm not a super knowledged guy when it comes to game engines but here are some basic answers to your questions 32Bit is VERY outdated and has many restrictions that clash with modern day technologies, the most basic result of moving to 64Bit will be not being bound to ~4GB of RAM anymore, allowing the game to use more ram if possible which can be used to optimize the game whether its load times or garbage collection. Nvidia cards released as or after the 20 series cards have new memory which in APB's case causes "out of memory" crashes, this will be fixed on 64Bit. There will be a performance increase across the board. Assuming they manage to backport the tools unreal 3.5 provided it'll also help with faster development. There's no date yet but I doubt LO would want to rush this IF the update itself succeeds internally, there will likely be a lot of inhouse testing done by their Quality assurance team as well as SPCT before they head into possible Open Beta tests and the eventual release. For all I know this is an "under the hood" type of upgrade, us players will likely not see any significant changes to the games looks. If they manage to backport modern tools it should hopefully increase the efficiency and speed at which they can update the game whether its new content, balance or bug fixes. Better performance, better options for them to fix issues about the game, possibly introduce means for them to utilize graphics cards more rather than mostly relying on fast single core processing power, better tools for them as well as more options for external tools such as anti-cheats.

Matt doesn't owe us anything. All of you are just overreacting whilst the "smart" people just move on to different better games. I've spent a load of money on APB myself but with "investing" in to a game you should realize that you're always going to lose that money. 1. You'll never get it back anyways. 2. Not a single game will survive your entire lifetime. 3. You're spending money on an account that isn't even yours. I genuinely do not understand why people care so much for APB or anything Matt does, they clearly do not have the resources to accomplish the goals that they had set when they took over nor the goals that they have set in the previous months. It's mind boggling that there are still people that genuinely think sh*t is going to get done and APB:R is going to be a big hit. Just wait and see, they don't owe you guys anything no matter how much time and money you have invested in their game.

Same thing happened to me, however I was never penalized for it. I got scammed, out of my own stupidity and blind trust, by a person who claimed to be from Israel, and rich. The steam account linked to my apb account was banned long ago due to refunds, however I can still play using my gamersfirst credentials.. I suppose APB still got the money and steam was the one scammed in the end, lol.

I wish it was a troll post but, this game is plagued with blatant low ranks in fight club and normal districts. You can't just move to a other server since the player base is too small. Closets will not get banned but, the blatant low ranks are easy to pick out. So my idea is to close registrations and ban all the recent made accounts. This will solve the issue of rerolling blatant no lifers. This is the only solution i see since this is probably the bare minimum Little Orbit can do effort wise.

Matchmaking and Extiction of middle threat levels.
Yapopal replied to Queen of Love's topic in General Discussion Archive
Here's how it used to work: B-bronze S-silver G-gold B=B S=S G=G ------ BB=S BBB=G BS=G ------ SS=G SSS=GG BSG=GG This can be easily verified by looking at the mission results table. The problem is that there are players whose level of play is much higher than the rest, they have broken through the golden ceiling, the level of their game is somewhere in the stratosphere. This moment is not taken into account when picking an opponent. I have a gold level, but I feel powerless if I meet such opponents. The game leaves me no choice, I understand that I will lose, but I have no way to call for help or leave the mission without penalties or shutting down the game. The game tells me to be meat for the next 5 minutes. The number of people on the server, the division of threat areas, does not exclude the occurrence of the situation described above. The system of taking on the enemy is necessary, and most importantly, it is possible to change it right now. The system should not be loyal to veterans, as it is now. The system should be loyal to inexperienced, new players. They are the bright future of this game. New players enter the game because they have an interest in the gameplay, in editors, in customization. They don't know about Armas, cool guns, keys to the city, premium subscription. They are not interested in new contacts 255+ rank. The new long-awaited update WITHOUT CHANGING THE OPPOSITOR SELECTION SYSTEM does not accept new players into the game, the old ones will come, they will come to look and leave. And if you ask them why are you leaving? They will answer - NOTHING CHANGED IN THIS GAME. I am surprised by the people in whose hands this game was and is. Isn't what I wrote above obvious? You have invested your own money and time in this game. You have the problem of losing population, the main resource needed for the game to work. The problem can be solved now, yesterday, a year ago, 10 years ago. And you don't have time. The game has become a classic. Sometimes messages from players appear in the game chat with memories of their CHILDHOOD times, about how well they played this game. You are developing a new version of the game, you are talking about new contacts, more stable fps. Yes, it is interesting to people who know about this game. Will it be of interest to new players? I think no. When you are bent, you don't think about how to open a new contact, you think about how to run away. -
More things should be made account wide, in-game money, JT's and rare acitivity rewards. Rare activities should be removed entirely, then make those rare rewards randomly obtainable by playing missions and/or add them to the JT store.
