When I started, I think 7-8 years ago, admittedly the state of the game was better with more people online, however the situation in both bronze and silver districts wasn't much different than today. My friends and I were getting constantly farmed by higher ranks and better players. Yes, there were players who would buy you cars, themes, mods, send Armas gifts, give useful tips, but there are some kind and generous people today too. More or less, we all went through the same process, those who really liked the game, stayed, despite all nuisances APB comes with. I do not think those dethreaters have the impact on the game population as much as people think they do, considering the fact there were a lot of them back in time when population numbers were actually increasing (I think 2014). Lately, given the silver district is almost dead, a lot of silver district players play in bronze on their freshly made, throw-away accounts, 9 from 10 Trainees you will see are re-rolls, playing as you'd expect a silver district gold player to play. Some of them are well-known silver district APB players, as well. On the other hand, when there are no active bronze districts, which occasionally happens too, everyone plays in silver districts and gets the same treatment, whether they are new, re-roll or just plain silver, same as they did even before the (in)famous threat segregation. Generally speaking, the mentality of players is the same, regardless of the district, new or less-skilled players are treated by the majority in the same way, and certainly you have older, experienced players who rather behave sportingly in both districts and treat them differently. I firmly believe new players mostly leave for other issues APB is dealing with. Some stay though, yet not quite often.

What's your opinion on explosives in Asylum?

One should play with whatever they have fun with. -
Either way, I am sure Pacman will be thrilled to see you're back.

Merged thread - Removal of several reactions
Bambola replied to SmilyFace's topic in General Discussion Archive
I get it, it is because this community is all about love and gratitude. Actually, it is utter nonsense. It's even a bit repressive, one is allowed to agree on something yet disallowing is forbidden. A disagreement, even through a reaction only, defines our individuality as much as openly stating an agreement. What they should have done instead is bringing back non-anonymous reactions or removing reactions all together. -
It is one of APB's common misconceptions, gold threat players massively and deliberately de-threat in order to stomp on new players (what new players?). Having the gold threat (in bronze) and being a gold threat player (in silver) are two completely different things. There are no golds in bronze, those are just decent silvers who up-threat after having a few successful matches against similar silvers. The combination of low population and matchmaking system makes those silvers to look gold, but in reality that doesn't qualify them to be even remotely decent opponents in silver district, hence they de-threat and stay as mediocre gold-plated silvers players in bronze.

The most toxic behaviour you have seen in apb?
Bambola replied to OCrazyGuyO's topic in General Discussion Archive
Frankly, I'd prefer if the subject was something like "The most nurturing behavior you have seen in APB". Listing publicly something we should be ashamed of, doesn't sound quite right to me. -
Having 600-700 players on average isn't that bad. The APB community is like a small uncongenial family. Some of those 'family members' you hated in the past, after you were constrained to spend tens of thousands of hours together, you find even tolerable now, or even worse, likable. It's like a small but chosen group of marginal individuals, ego-lords, nerds, socially awkward persons, gopniks, vaporwavers, misunderstood artists, weeaboos, emos, casuals, furries, geeks, otakus, bronies, goths, normies, irresponsible parents (yeah, sorry if I've left you out) stuck in the world of San Paro but still functioning more or less well together. Can't have that within some big communities, not in this way APB has, at least.

You can't really speak of moral in APB, considering the fact the majority of players have lost their moral compass, have questionable ethics and a sense of good sportsmanship is rarely to be seen. But that's not strictly related to APB, that's how, generally speaking, the society is nowadays. However, you cannot blame someone for being merciless and remorseless in a video-game, everyone has their own way of playing. Someone will completely destroy their obviously less skilled opponent and will get the same treatment from a more skilled player than themselves, someone will go easy on opponents who are evidently below their skill level. That's something on individual level, a matter of personal choice and I find both being perfectly fine. To each their own. Personally, I always go easy on weaker opponents simply because I do not enjoy opposing and playing against someone who is less skilled, beating them brings no rewards or personal satisfaction.

I do not find typing 'ApbR1234' as a complicated thing to do.

That's how the economy works, they were risking and speculating in hope of profit, I do not see anything controversial in this case. You've sold your symbols for the price you set, they will eventually sell it for higher, someone will be happy getting their new symbol, everyone should be content in the trade chain.

Why only old players stick around?

do you need someone to plug the servers in?
Bambola replied to postalgril's topic in General Discussion Archive
To be frank, the difference between playing with 20-50 ms and 100-150 ms latency is in... well, about 100 milliseconds, that's less than the duration of a single eye blink. I feel like people inflate the latency issue, undeniably the game doesn't respond realistically to the user input at latencies above 100-150 ms but it's far from the game being unplayable. I used to play on both NA and EU server, maily sniper role and had no significant issues. The only noticeable problems I had was in situations where I was put against people with 300 ms or when the server goes awry. -
Let me tell you, a couple of years ago, and I am sure enough people remember it, if I am not wrong during the Christmas Event, there was a bug allowing stunned Enforcers to be arrested by members of Criminal faction. Yes it was a short-lived bug, there was no role progress nor rewards or something like that for arresting an Enforcer, but it was fun. Technically, a Criminal could perform a citizen's arrest and still stay within boundaries of the APB's lore. I know implementing something like this isn't possible but perhaps in the future there could be some situations or maybe events where this would be a feature.

Reporting hackers w/ Video, Questions
Bambola replied to LAPDAlonso's topic in General Discussion Archive
You're right, achieving and maintaining gold threat is quite easy (e.g. Xanodia you've mentioned, or going from a trainee to gold without kills) in case someone has a decent computer, latency and aim. However, someone who doesn't have some of mentioned prerequisites or any of those, alternatively they are not gold because they simply do not try enough or they dethreat, with enough time spent in the game should be able to spot a cheater, moreover those blatant ones. Regardless of their threat. The whole discussion started with the statement "Aside you are a silver player .." in manner "How can you tell someone's cheating if you're a silver player?", and I argued someone's experience is way more important than someone's threat when making such judgements. You gave me a good prelude, following that threat logic would imply being gold makes one relevant enough to to distinguish a really good player from a really good cheater, yet you have people getting gold after an hour of playing, not even knowing how to equip their character modification. I doubt they would be able to tell who's cheating or not. Sadly, it could be difficult even for experienced players to be 100% positive regarding someone's legitimacy, given how skillfully they can hide it. -

Slightly off-topic... Someone's threat level has absolutely nothing to do with their game knowledge. I know there are some who'd like to present it as rocket science but in reality, it's quite simple - the only difference between a bronze, silver or a gold player who has, for example, 1000 hours in the game is their aiming/tracking skill, the main attributes qualifying a player to coherently discuss game relevant things is their experience, and well, intelligence. That's exactly why I find arguments like "silvers can't discuss weapon balancing" or "how can you tell someone's cheating if you're a silver" quite hare-brained. This kind of groundless elitism where disregarding someone's opinion just based on their threat level is justified should come to an end, once and for all. -
I like the title.

Discussion on the NFAS-12 'True Ogre'
Bambola replied to Ai-Zhú's topic in General Discussion Archive
Dual drum is for casuals, a triple drum and triple stats is what Ogre needs. Or well, make a new legendary and call it maybe "NFAS-36 Ent". -
Whilst there is some truth in your post, I wouldn't a priori come up with such conclusions, especially not with generalizations. One simply shouldn't banalize things like that - "bronze district: casual players playing for fun", "silver district: toxic competitive players playing for win". Saying "bronze & silver don't even describe people's threat levels, they more accurately describe people's attitudes, personalities & reasons for playing" is nonsense, because the difference between bronze and silver district is in players' skill ceiling only, in both districts, the majority plays the best they can, striving to win. Of course, there are also players who care less about matches outcome, like me, yet more about spending some quality time gaming, however, that doesn't mean being competitive eliminates fun from the process of playing. One can be a good, competitive player, going for wins, getting them and having a blast while doing it. On the other hand, I know many people from silver districts who have an equally good time winning or losing as a win is just a sort of reward, a cherry on top. As someone who's well familiar, or well used to be, with both threat districts, on both EU and NA servers, I can tell you the toxicity is an individual thing, you will inevitably come across a toxic person in both districts, but far less in silver districts, at least judging by the amount of "best wishes whispers" and the district chat (this is a personal experience, could be wrong). Either way, I am positive I encountered more 'NFAS-Kev3-perc' and similar type of people in bronze than in silver district. I agree, going 0/20 all the time kills all the fun and will to play, but also doesn't make your gold opponents toxic people who are just playing for the win and ego boost. You have chilled, casual, fun and friendly people in both districts, as much as you have repulsive pricks.
