I don't want to be that guy but ... I recently tried a fresh APB install on Windows 7 / 8.1 and 10, this was to check if there was any difference in performance. This was with the recent APB 'Halloween' patch. I have originals keys for all these OS'es, it were fresh installs (like, not upgraded from older versions). All Windows patches also got installed for each version (fully updated). For these clean and updated installs, without any shared VC Redist installed, I had to manually install the VC Redists from the TPI folder to get the APB launcher running. (I think only the VC 2005 Redist is needed for the launcher?! But I installed them all anyway, because the launcher does that as well anyway if you don't). It might be an idea to include a check on launching the pc launcher (lol) to see if the VC redistributable required for the launcher is installed on the machine. Besides that, really, the game, DX9 and BE installed fine from the launcher on all versions. After that no issues. And what do you know, the FPS difference was within what you could call error margin, I mean running APB on the same graphical config between these Windows versions. No real difference. Loved that. The only thing I found while experimenting on these fresh installs, is that you can break the game from launching in Windows 10 if you enable "address space layout randomization", or ASLR, in the Windows 10 defender settings (I think you need version 1806 or higher for this option to be available). If you want to use that, you'll have to whitelist APBprogram. Other than that, it might just be something on your end. I mean like, 3rd party firewalls, dodgy drivers, bad wifi, weird compatibility settings, I really don't know! All I can tell you is the above, because I recently wanted to see the FPS difference between the OS's for the current APB. VM Extra: I also tried the Halloween APB version in the latest VMware workstation player, just to test. This one is free for personal use. Dedicated 2 cores, 8gb of RAM and 70Gb of SSD space towards it. Did assign the last 2 cores on the cpu as those get used the least in my case. Used a fully updated Windows 10 as host and a fully updated Windows 10 as VM. Used the latest VMware tools and gpu drivers. APB definitely had playable performance while the host was in use for other stuff. I'm serious, I played some rounds without real issues like this. Obviously virtualization will always be slower than running it normally though. Well, that's basically it.

Funny fact about APB hitboxes; at one point the previous host had an in-house dev hacking the game, to explore ideas to fight closet cheaters, right, and at one point these 'hitboxes' in APB ran away from cheaters when the enemy itself was out of direct line of sight! xD Seriously! Just remembering this dev brings a smile back on my face, what a clever guy. Might be a close all-time hero just second under Neume. Anyway, I think this particular idea went something like this; if a closet cheater would continue to follow / target these ghost hitboxes, well, then it would be clear he / she was closet cheating, right? And just to be sure this is clear let's say it again; this was done to trap so called closet cheaters, not the obvious aimbot and triggerbot "pro's" we all know too well, no not even the togglers, but a small minority of people who were actually skilled enough to almost fully hide their cheating ways. Up to today this still is one of the funniest, and in my humble opinion one of the more inventive and smart, attempts to trap closet cheaters. Again, your daily aimbot and triggerbot "pro's" aren't closet cheaters. Not even close. They might think they are haha but really Battleye shouldn't have a problem with these folks. Shouldn't a keyword here. There's a reason for everything though. A real gaming breakthrough would be allowing everyone to have their fun in some way. That's something global these days for game communities, not just APB. But holy cow that good willed dev had funny ideas against closets and actually tried some. Will never forget what he did there. The ghost hitboxes of APB. See it as a late Halloween story.

Raytracing is a mess in BFV ... even the 1080TI cannot handle anything above ''minimal' without dropping your fps to unacceptable numbers, and that's a 1080TI rendering 1080p. As a partner and as named by the NVIDIA CEO to be a title that would support RTX at launch, BV5 was FORCED to implement it. Their implementation is like this: SOME reflecting surfaces do SOME Raytracing. Nothing else. Like, the Rotterdam map in particular has more surfaces (shops, buildings) that now support RTX, than for example any BFV forest map. Those forrest maps only have some RTX water pools. The 2080 TI chokes on Rotterdam now. It is somewhat playable in 1080p with RTX on MINIMUM. It BARELY handles forest maps in 1080p with full RTX on. We are taling about a $1400 flagship card here, with 11GB of GDDR6, literally the newest graphical hardware in the world ... it is insane. It is not RTX is not ready. Besides do you think people who paid this kind of money have a monitor that's meant for 1080p gaming? No way! Let's be fair also; when you set everything on ultra, the actual RTX effects are gorgeous. They really are if you can find them. And, maybe even more important, for devs this will be the future as RTX is way more flexible for reflections than anything they had available before. But RTX will take time. What we see in BFV is a mess. RTX and DLSS was hyped. That presentation show was pure marketing. The 2080 TI being barely able to deliver the raw power needed to use it in 1080p. The 2070 is too weak to even consider for current gen RTX implementations. Deep learning might be able to give it a sufficient boost but we are talking several iterations down the development line. (The 2070 is a fast gaming card for non-rtx gaming don't get it mixed up, it's just not suitable for current gen RTX implementations.) And all that, all that power, is now needed for a FEW RTX surfaces in BFV. Not the whole scene, no, a FEW surfaces. And it's not only BVF, same goes for Tomb Raider. Stay away from it until it matures, that's a sound advice for both early customers and early devs. Let those big guys and companies figure out how the heck this has to be used first. LOL Then adapt towards it. Then spend your money. Really all that NVIDIA showed with that presentation, complete ******* marketing. The cards cannot handle it. And that's apart from the RTX cards breaking down many, many, early adopters. If you got money to throw you won't really care, but even then you really should, because what was promised wan't delivered. People should take promises serious again, and repel when promises arn't kept. It's too easy for big business to play with people like this today. Oh man what a rant. Boo NVIDIA ! Kinda like it it is chaos, it is fast, it even is unpredictable ... yeah not your normal event but I could find fun in playing this. Some sort of role for level up for people that are less lucky would be nice, an alternative reward to keep playing that doesn't involve all the RNG so to say. I kinda agree with that. And yes compared to normal matches or fightclub you do seem to need an over-specced pc and connection for this kind of match, could be a hinder for some folks. I mean even the server had some hiccups now and then The fighting area could be a little bigger with full district-pops now centered in it, lol yeah, kinda agree with that as well. I don't really support free exclusive outfit items as APB has always been about customizing the crap out of what's available to us. It's not really the item but what you do with it. Also super rare free outfit items makes even the most expensive Armas outfit stuff less valuable. Nah, create something 'exclusive' and never sell it. Hire someone skilled to create something 'exclusive'. That sort of thing. It's APB! Hey! But, rare event 'skins' ... I kinda can get behind ... although, again, if free it's kinda salty to complain. I mean like, totally wanting to lock newer players out from ever getting that free skin seems weird to me. What I like to see exclusive is 'titles'. Which server you came from. Which event you completed and when. That sort of stuff. Totally not about creativity, the reward or whatever, but still references to the past and what you did / earned and when. That's just me though.

Does anyone from LO even care that their old battleye is being disabled, battleye does give support for these things ya know! Just use your battleye contact! What I never understood is that any player can just get the golden joker ticket osmaw,... then go into fight club, get 100 kills for the role and unlock the 1 slotted version of both the rocket and grenade launcher, before leveling any contacts or having the starer ones! Catcher is is not the game, basically the catcher is used if your game crashes (cause on exception), the catcher then can be used to send error reports. Maybe the sending parts is a trigger now, anyway it almost 2019 if you wanna be sure just upload the file for free to virustotal and have it scanned online by like 60+ updated popular scanners simultaneously. This is the most interesting and promising APB post I've read in years. I am serious, not kidding. I mean, anyone serious about more activity and more players knows this has always been the way to go. "Can't be done" has always been the answer. Here we have it can be done, after an upgrade. I'll always love this game but from the very start this setup has been holding the game back. I'll even go as far as saying that the system accommodated unwanted behavior within our community at very important moments in the past. I don't know what to say. Can't believe I'm reading this. APB 2019?

Have it already. Bit more about the purple weapons: shotgun was considered the best and it's crap in the current meta lol. They still should be in the shop yeah. Any of them are shitty in the meta none the less. The extra purple sidearm secondary isn't in the shop afaik, but it's even more shitty in the current meta guess, that's why nobody ever bothered lols. They are purple though. Could be a reason for collectors i guess. Key to the city pack horror history is something totally different and involved stolen keys.

Cheaters on here are so full of bullcrap; a good 2018 hwid blocker would leave a cheater with having to exchange hardware. A very well known 2018 example is Fortnite using this approach as an addition to their anti-cheat policy; their hwid blocker includes the harddisk serial used with the game, a serial which you cannot spoof nor change yourself with software on windows or linux and professional cheaters now are piling up harddisks / ssds, which is great. Like, them having to buy a shitty 20 dollar replacement HD for this game every time they get pwnd by battleye or ez is funny. No, it is hilarious. Even more expensive if the cheater insist on using ssds. There are rumors a new update will also add ram (memory) identifiers from manufacturers, which will make this even more annoying to unskilled people ruining games with cheats. No approach is perfect but a good 2018 hwid blocker does certainly help. This forum is 99.99 percent old og trolls though so why even try here? luls!
