yeah pretty much, back when we first got battleye, players couldn't use stuff like msi afterburner advanced launcher is officially allowed and distributed by little orbit, its available on their website

the rules have always been pretty clear that all 3rd party programs that affect the game are at risk of triggering bans - the rule is overly broad specifically to cover situations like this where a program may or may not be malicious but still triggers the anticheat there's never going to be a complete list of all disallowed programs, because no anticheat or developer can account for every random custom coded and distributed program like your stencil tool

i will always believe that if orbit spent a year polishing anarchy/chaos districts (adding open world objectives, proper leaderboards, preventing spawn camping, etc) instead of making RIOT, apb would be in a much better place right now

i dont think macros are that big of a problem in apb because a player generally needs several different fire rates for different engagements, but its actually pretty easy to set up a no recoil or no bloom macro on most gaming mice these days

you're going to get two answers for cheating the cheating is bad the cheating is not bad given your post, i think you'll probably land in "the cheating is bad" category population is objectively bad - it spiked for a bit after the upgrade, but its returned to NA (~100 peak) being unplayable for a majority of the day, and EU (~300 peak) being a bit better off but still not good

i don't think you're factoring in the actual potential costs what happens if little orbit says "its okay to be a nazi in our game" or "it's okay to sexually harass people in our game" and apb gets removed from steam? if the ongoing deal to get apb listed on epic games is put on hold? if the server provider that apb uses decides to terminate the contract? if the storm of negative publicity begins to affect little orbits other business ventures? the problem with using shock advertising and negative pr is if the resulting controversy gets too much attention, other companies will do anything they can to show "the public" that they aren't involved

the only thing that wasn't enforced in rtw was the anticheat, because it literally broke the game when it was enabled i'm not trying to protect anyone, i'm questioning how many players are left once you remove the categories i listed my opinion is "not many" - the amount of people who don't play apb because it has too many rules is incredibly small actually, we can add a fourth category to the list - no cheaters will play the unrestricted server because the whole point of cheats is to have an advantage over other people that don't have cheats

who is "every roach" ? the casual players won't play there because they'll get stomped on the new players won't play there because they'll get harassed until they quit the veterans won't play there because playing with cheats isn't fun apb has always had restrictions - rtw had a ToS, and an anticheat, and GMs just like every other game

make money from who? i hate to break it to you, but the majority of players are never in danger of breaking the current rules so it would not benefit them if those rules were removed the small minority of players who would benefit from no rules are not going to spend enough money to support the game

it seems like the underlying issue is the poor netcode, in which case there’s no change to the HUD that can fix that - a health bar will be just as delayed as damage indicators or gun shots or any of the other current mehcanics
