EasyAC vs BattlEye vs FairFight
vsb replied to MrLek's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
fairfight was used to manually ban people for non-cheating offenses while claiming all fairfight bans were for cheating and there were false cheating detections due to fairfight not being properly maintained by g1 - these have been confirmed by orbit as reasons for lifting fairfight bans, altho we were never given any specific numbers or names afaik keep in mind that ffbans was a third party website that scraped the ban announcements off twitter, people could and would say whatever they wanted on the site -
EasyAC vs BattlEye vs FairFight

we’re at a point where no single anticheat is enough, the optimal setup imo is a client side anticheat to stop people downloading free shit from the first page of google, and a server side anticheat to catch those that bypass the client side anticheat - in apb’s case, eac and fairfight battleye is first and foremost an anticheat the reason you get a message from battleye is because it’s integrated into the login system orbit discontinued eac the first time over price, it wasn’t free eac has client side functions that scan files for changes -

The real priorities are others, but...

it’s frustrating because it feels like little orbit has given up on weapon balance when it’s something that could be done right now to hold onto player engagement until the big issues are tackled there’s been dozens of detailed total weapon balance suggestions submitted by decent players, just pick one and spend an hour per week copy pasting stat values - there doesn’t seem to be a clear vision for combat at orbit, so yoink someone else’s, experiment now so that when (if) players come back for the big fixes the core gameplay feels different enough for them to stay -
there’s already a disturbingly large group of people who harass the better apb players on a regular basis because they’re convinced anyone above silver is cheating same thing happens to certain streamers now imagine if those people could prevent players and streamers from playing apb without breaking the tos

most injectable cheats use client side data, which is only available up to ~100m for player models, because that’s all that’s needed to render characters TDM tags are serverside, and afaik they aren’t linked to character models; the server says “place tag here” and your client says “okay!” no matter what - it’s why TDM tags have such frequent desync issues

Not receiving random rewards in opposed missions?
vsb replied to BlatMan's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
joker tickets were decoupled from the other mission rewards years ago -

is this the end of vehicle desync? secrets is actually goated if it is

an actual sane suggestion from hexerin the world is ending i'll add on that weapon roles (and their requirements) should continue to infinity instead of having a max level, even if there's no rewards (yet) for role 17-999

i hate every event with heavy fog gameplay mechanics were fun enough tho

it doesn’t have to be instant opp, that’s most likely never going to happen i’m suggesting a system with perfect bare minimum matchmaking functionality doesn’t start a mission until it has two teams queued, so yes ideally the /abandonmission command would be rendered useless as a solo player unopposed missions aren’t just mind-numbingly boring, imo they’re actively harmful to matchmaking - what is the purpose of locking down 3 players that the system has already failed to correctly matchmake as a team? why not continue to have those 3 players available individually for more flexibility in terms of matchmaking combinations?

Why are Districts Crashing so Often?

very early g1 had high server fps for like a week, ambulances were doing backflips and moirais were wheelieing uncontrollably
