Does anyone remember which version of the game it was when they encrypted the files? I remember that fucking up performance for a lot of people just because some shitty mobile game stole the Cisco model. -

There are separate teams working on the Engine Upgrade and Riot btw. Just throwing that out there. Matt said before that RIOT isn't taking any resources away from the engine update. The upgrade is being tested by SPCT right now, and SPCT are community members. They would have mentioned by now if the upgrade is bullshoot or fake. Don't get me wrong, I'd love some screenshots or videos of it, but Matt said they want to get the final visual changes down before they show anything because he wants it to be as representative of the final product as possible.

I agree that the Espacio is pretty lacking, but I think the Ceresco needs a little bit of a boost as well. Maybe if they were both AWD they would be more reliable? Espacio should have more slots than it does at the moment too, 15 is way too low for such a big van. 25 sound good? That would be just as many as the Ceresco. -
I've encountered way less cheaters since BE was implemented. Blatants anyway. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt when I think I see a closet because I know I'm not very good at the game. Ever since BE was added we haven't had speed hackers zooming around the districts. I ran into a few instances where I thought I saw speed hackers but they just turned out to be LO staff once I caught up to them and saw their names. There have been a handful of people that seemed fishy but I only ever saw those particular people like once or twice, then never again. One thing I'll always miss about speed hackers is when they get P5 or N5 and run into the side of your car. That thud is the most satisfying sound. That's undeniable lol. Even with how shit I am, I still get hackusated a lot. You know there's a lot of paranoia going around if someone as shit as me gets hackusated as a near max rank on a regular basis.

+1 G1 retiring weapons was just a marketing thing to get people to buy them up quickly, they weren't just making room for new guns like they claimed. No reason these retired guns shouldn't be available right now.

I'm with CookiePuss on this one in regards to the fog. Removing fog really doesn't give any special advantage, just makes the game more playable for those on a lesser rig. If you already get an awesome and consistent frame rate then removing fog won't help you, but if you're on a rig that APB just doesn't like, like Cookie's or mine, then it will help put your performance at the same level as the people with rigs that wouldn't get a benefit from removing fog. For anyone that seems to think fog is an important aspect of game play, players are beyond the render distance by the time fog is even somewhat noticeable, so it doesn't make seeing enemies easier at all. Back in the day when we had randomly occurring overcast days it would have, but not anymore. It also seems to get rid of that gross blue filter.

Shouldn't that just be an issue of fixing the desync problem with being pushed by your car then? I'm not really sure where you're coming from here. Back in the day attempting this exploit would kill you, so it wasn't even a thing back then, but G1 made it so you don't get hit by your own car anymore when leaving the vehicle. Actually that may be a good thing to re-implement... -

The problem with that is that making the most fun vehicle to drive not fun to drive anymore would just take a LOT of fun out of the game. The Vegas isn't really a race car either. It's a late 1960s to early 1970s American muscle car. Those things are heavy compared to modern sports cars. Instead of nerfing the very few things that are actually fun to drive, how about we make the boring shitty cars actually fun to use? Nerfing the fun ones doesn't do any favors for the game at all. Maybe reduce the Vegas 4x4's health a little bit, but don't change the way the damn thing drives. Something as simple as reducing its weight would completely change the way it handles. Lets take a look at the Cisco for a sec. The thing slides all over the place, and though yes it is a really stable car, it still isn't really all that much fun to drive. Plus it's a hockey puck that any vehicle in the game can ram out of the way except for maybe a Varzuga. An increase in the Cisco's weight would mean more grip, so better turning and getting slammed would be less devastating. However it would also need a little increase in torque to keep it's speed. Currently it sits at being 2 mph slower than the Vegas, which I think is fine for a car that handles as well as it does. The normal Vegas does, but really the 4x4 doesn't require much skill to drive. Skill helps with that car but it isn't mandatory like with the normal one. -

The big difference between G1 and LO in terms of bugs is that LO eventually takes the time to go back and fix the bugs that they create. G1 just kinda let them there to fester and turn into bigger problems down the road.

Criticism is very important but I think what Jazeker means is to not flame LO over every little mistake to the point that we did with G1 so that they get burned out and apathetic toward APB. Flaming is different than harsh criticism. Flaming is when you're just saying "AAGH THIS NEW MODE IS BULLSH!T LO IS WORSE THAN G1" without giving any real reasons or real suggestions. Other than the shitty management one of the problems with G1 was that with everything they did, good or bad, a legion of screechers crawled out from under the rocks and attacked their every move, never a positive or even constructive comment. If you look back at the very beginning of Reloaded, like in OBT, they were actually doing some pretty good stuff. After years of said screeching they stopped caring about the game and it just became their cash cow. If you're criticizing LO, at least be constructive about it, don't just insult them over every little thing they do or we'll have a repeat of G1. You gotta remember that they inherited an insanely messy shitstorm of a game, and its less than friendly community. Whether you like RIOT or not you can't deny that they are at least trying to freshen up and modernize APB. Plus they have separate teams working on the Engine Upgrade and RIOT so they aren't taking focus away from the EU to implement this broken mode at all. We may not have asked for it (similar modes have been suggested a lot in the past actually, not saying I agree with them or anything) they saw potential in an area of APB because of its district size and they wanted to capitalize on that. Can you really blame them for that? "But everyone was telling them not to do it" There were a lot of people saying APB doesn't need a BR mode, myself included, but I'm a bit of a hypocrite in this situation because I'm also a fan of "don't knock it til you try it" because you really don't know until you do try it for yourself. Some people on the forum here actually said they were pleasantly surprised with how RIOT turned out aside from all the issues. Now that this much of RIOT is done it seems too late to turn back and scrap it. They're kinda caught in a "Damned if we do, Damned if we don't" situation. Some of the same people that hate RIOT will just use them scrapping it as more ammo against them for not being able to complete it, even though they got what they wanted instead of being thankful that it was scrapped. It happens every damn time something is reverted. There's a certain few here that do this constantly. I'm not white knighting LO or anything, I just don't want to see them fall into the same apathetic rut that G1 dug themselves into.

You hit the nail on the head there. RIOT feels way too uneventful for its name. The environment was set up nicely, but it suffers from the lack of audio needed to make the atmosphere believable. APB is filled with environmental sounds that could solve this. Distant explosions and gunfire, sirens, screams, it's all in the game's files, they just need to increase the frequency of those sounds by a lot to build a new soundscape for this mode. Maybe even an Air Raid siren could go off a few times when the round starts? A riot should be absolute chaos from start to finish and all the limitations of this mode, like no vehicles for example just make it more boring. Imagine if those burned out cars and some of the props like those big riot crates had physics and a team managed to get a couple of dump trucks, plowing through everything in the street potentially killing others by knocking the burned out cars into them. Over the top crazy fun is what you would expect from a name like RIOT. If I were to rewrite RIOT, my plan would be to remove the BR elements from RIOT, and turn it into territory control. Turn the RIOT devices into capture points that you need to hack to claim. Weapon pick ups could still be there, but remove the confusing mechanics like buying your loadout and asking if you want to buy your primary or secondary when you already have them. Maybe there could be two timers. One long timer for the round, and a shorter timer that would gas the block that has been captured for the longest, and that block would belong permanently to the team that dominated it. I'd also get rid of the whole lives thing. The current iteration of RIOT is just way too complicated for someone who just started playing the game, and even the veteran players at times. Take SilverCrow's post here: He's totally right about this. RIOT is really hard to explain because there's so many moving parts to it. If it was done the way I just described then it would be straight forward and easy to understand. Plus territory control is something players have wanted for a long time.

Personally I don't think RIOT is all that bad as a game mode. It doesn't really feel like a true BR which is a good thing. It still almost* feels like APB. However, along with it maintaining APB's feel, it also maintains the game's track record for just being generally broken. I really do appreciate the work you guys put into this but some huge changes need to be made if RIOT is going to be a fun experience for... anyone really... 1. Stability. Seeing a ton of crash reports here on the forums, I've only experienced a few crashes, but its still a lot more than I've had over the past few years when my game was actually really stable. Before, the only crashes I experienced were when my PC would decide it doesn't like my F:/ drive and turned it off. 2*. Vehicles. Vehicles need to be brought to this mode for it to really maintain the feel of APB. APB has a big focus on driving and the Financial district was definitely built around driving... A lot. It's way too big and open to just run everywhere. Doesn't necessarily need to be player vehicles, but ones scattered around that we can get into and drive. Alongside this there's the issue that the burned out car shells in the streets are static objects with no physics. That's gotta change for when vehicles are enabled. 4. Spawns. Oh my God, the spawns. 90% of the time when you respawn, you're either right next to an enemy that's already armed (or in my case I often spawn RIGHT BETWEEN two enemeis that are already in a fire fight!) or you spawn so deep into a Gassed zone that the 30 seconds the hazmat suit lasts isn't nearly enough to get out of it. You should ONLY be able to respawn inside of safe areas, or a block bordering a safe zone. 5. Cooldowns. The Hazmat suit doesn't need that long of a cool down. The cooldown should be slightly shorter than the amount of time it takes the gas to kill you in my opinion. 6. Enemy names just don't show up most of the time. 7. The UI needs some work. Having big text in the middle of the screen is a big no no. Find a corner to put it in or at the top. Anywhere but the middle. 8. I understand that it's in "beta", but this feels a lot more unfinished than a beta should. 9. The Riot Manager NPC should sell the same things that all other contacts do. They currently have an empty buy tab. I can see the POTENTIAL in RIOT, just like APB itself has potential by the truck loads. It's just not close to meeting that potential in its current state.

Well whether you think they're too expensive or not at the moment, keep in mind that they're going to be adding more ways for us to get more JTs than we currently have. And besides, they're free. You wouldn't have been able to get a hold of these items without paying real money in the past anyway, so just be happy that now there's a free way to get them.
