  1. Really nice car regardless. I have a (at this point I don't know what the hell year it is) 1969-1974 Chevy Nova that I've been trying to get together for the past couple of years. It seems like the previous owner just took parts from different years and combined them together on this one. I'm looking for another Nova to use as a base and I may have just found one earlier today that actually has a usable frame and isn't nearly as rotted out as this one.
  2. Been seeing a few Wildcats popping up on Craigslist in my area lately, might be worth checking there if you haven't already. None of the ones I've seen were ready for the road but I usually limit the max price to $3500 since I'm looking for a project car. Have any pics of that Thunderbird?
  3. The only downside I see to this is the market being too cluttered, but that really doesn't seem like a problem tbh, the good outweighs the bad here for sure.
  4. Ah alrighty I gotcha, I'm with ya on that.
  5. Well I mean tbh both sounds are bad, the old one is just better than the new one. Neither really sound like a real muscle car. Not really sure what you mean by "compensatory nitro crutching" I looked it up and I just got a bunch of results for walkers with oxygen tanks for old people. This is why I would like an audio kit instead of just reverting the sound (not the old people walkers, but the bad sound in general) so we could have the exhaust component give us new engine sounds for the car. Maybe they could get some new sounds recorded that actually sound like a real muscle car. Leave the default sound as the current shitty "Uh oh, I'm about to stall" sound, and add the old one as a new exhaust, and add a few more as the other exhausts. The game that really did muscle car engine sounds right was Burnout Paradise, I'd love if other added exhaust sounds could be more like this:
  6. Made a lil' video. Don't ask about the lag, it wasn't like that in game but the recording was laggy for some reason.
  7. Back in early G1 days there was a random chance for the day to be foggy, overcast, or clear. So on random days the sky would be grey and cloudy and the fog would be more prominent. I think it also effected the shaders to make them more grey. This stayed in the game for a pretty short amount of time.
  8. There were a few different "oh god"s back in the day. The way males say it now is more like "uuugh gahd", back then they also had ones where he was actually screaming it. One of them was a really quick abrupt one that sounds like he was taken by surprise. A lot of other screams have been removed too. Some of them sounded really painful, and not just for the character but the voice actor's throat too. All of the male sounds we have now are sounds you would make if you stub your toe. It's definitely a lot different now.
  9. Then why play APB at all? :^) You know I'm just joking, I just couldn't pass it up.
  10. Based on the title I thought you were going to say we should restart from RTW. Though that would be an awesome nostalgia trip it would be really bad for the game. Despite how bad G1 was, they actually made a ton of improvements over the years, and to scrap those improvements would just suck. Totally agree with you though, the tutorial system needs to be completely redone. I posted a thread about this years ago on the old forum suggesting pretty much the same thing you are. My proposal back then was to get back some of the old voice actors (Zombie for the crim tutorial, and La Rocha for the enforcer tutorial) and have them show you the ropes. It would happen in an offline district. The crim tutorial would start at New Cross, where Zombie would teach you basic controls, give you your FBW, have you shoot a few targets to get the hang of handling a gun, he gives you instructions on how to invite him to your group, tells you to ready up then a "mission" would start, you would get the red and blue flashy APB logo coming up like it normally does when you start a mission and then would come the vehicle and objective part of the tutorial. He would tell you to drive to the objective, he gets in the passenger seat, and it takes you through a basic mission but with unnecessary paths blocked off so the player doesn't get lost. This is where the idea gets a little more iffy because they would need some basic AI. There would be really basic bots of enforcers with storm trooper aim trying to stop you from completing objectives while he covers you. Along the way he mentions that friendly players are green, enemies are red, and that you can't interact with players who have grey names. *New addition to the idea* Once the mission is over Zombie has you drive him to Double B's subway station, he gives you the STAR as a parting gift, then goes down the escalator and leaves, and the game then phases you into an active server. The tutorial cannot be skipped if it hasn't been completed before, and you can come back to it if you need to at any point. There could also be a second tutorial for open world activities like ram raiding and witnessing. Just an idea
  11. *For Sofia's coat* Probably the reason it was never made available is because the way it moves is all built into her standing and waiting animations. No real physics involved, and it would look awful anchored to your character's leg bones. Getting their belts would be awesome though. I especially want Zombie's wallet chain.
  12. They do, but it's FAR less frequent and almost all of the sounds were removed. You never get the legendary "AOH GAWD" or any of the real screams anymore. Now the only male sounds left are "oof", "UOGH", or "AGH". What really sucks is not being able to hear other player's pain/death sounds. Those were a great source of comedy.
  13. The old login music fits the game more, but it doesn't fit the current login screen at all. It's either bring back both or neither, and Matt has said that he wants to bring the old login screen back. Personally I hate the current login screen. It doubles the startup time of the game and just looks extremely boring without giving off the creative vibe that is so important in APB. It makes it even worse when you see what they were trying to emulate with these bland frozen action scenes. This video is of the main menu and driver select interface from Twisted Metal: Black from way back in 2001. This has come up a lot over the years since they changed the login screen and it usually gets a ton of support.
  14. So a grenade that temporarily disables cars will be useless in a completely car based objective?
  15. This would be so awesome.
  16. N-no? The fire rate on that gun is really easy to get the hang of, so most likely what you're seeing is people who actually know how to use the gun. Plus it blooms a lot after a couple of shots so a macro would be useless.
  17. 8/10 Fun track to listen to If you've played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, you know this one.
  18. The Vegas sounds like dookie now. G1 changed it years ago. All they did was slow down the audio but it made the car sound a lot weaker, to the point where when idling it sounds like it's about to stall. It used to sound more throaty and powerful. Maybe this could even be implemented as an exhaust component in a Vegas Audio Kit. Here's how it sounded in 2011
  19. Aaaah my god I miss this so much! You can hear it here too once the car bounces off the Mikro. Seeing the video you linked also reminded me of the old Vegas engine sounds. They were so much better than the current ones. Here's how it used to sound (sorry staxus)
  20. I miss APB looking pretty, and the old driving physics. Also like everyone has said so far, the population. I also miss the creativity of the time, back when there weren't any like, god tier designers. Everyone was still learning how to use the tools and they made due, so their creations didn't look or sound amazing, but that was part of the charm of it back then I think. It gave the kinda homemade feel like "Yes I made this". Nowadays everyone is using the same 5 trap themes and not many creations really feel unique anymore. A lot of it just feels manufactured now.
  21. 10/10, RIP Keith Flint! Been seeing these guys pop up lately.
  22. I know right? I was really surprised when he said that. We started a thread on the old forums around the time that LO took over and it got a ton of support. Matt wasn't even aware of the old login screen when they first took over, so he most likely found out about it because of that thread. During the interview I think I remember him saying he was listening to it on loop around the office and he said he thinks it matches the feel of the game much better than the current one. Hasn't said anything about it in quite a while though, so it might be worth reminding them.
