Yeah I'm still not buying it. Crims as far as I can tell, never pay off their bounty, especially during a mission. Why would one go through the hassle of putting aside their mission for the moment to go to a contact and pay off? The only thing about this system I believe should be changed is team killing getting rid of the bounty. About them killing other players in other missions, Why just disable it for the final stage then if they were free to do it earlier in the mission? Nobody outside the mission knows or cares if you're on the final stage, and what's to stop someone who's in an earlier stage of a different mission to come in and mess up your final stage? Like I said before, this system is designed to keep skilled players in check, and does that fairly well. So I agree with you about teamkilling should not resolve the bounty, but I really can't get behind anything else you're saying. The bounty system is (one of the few things) working as intended right now, and given APB's track history I feel like a rework of it would only break it, or a different rule set would only make things worse for everyone. Nothing should be changed except for teamkilling reducing notoriety.

Matt actually said that they're going to try to do this. It was a question asked in a livestreamed interview between Kempington and Matt. He said it a few other times a while ago as well and that he likes it more than the current one. Getting hit with that foghorn every time you launch the game is so grating.

I guess I misread that. In that case all it would do is make it so that the team that has been dominating the entire mission would be given a sure win because then they wouldn't have to worry about the rest of the district coming to kill them. Changing this is just a bad idea. It would just tip the balance in favor of the more skilled team which defeats the purpose of it entirely. The bounty system was designed to keep skilled players in check. That's why it's so important to have in a game that uses an asymmetrical matchmaking system where it has a chance to match newbies up against vets. Removing the bounties during the final stage would just make matchmaking more punishing to the new players that it should be trying to help a little.

I drive a 2003 Cadillac Escalade. Really comfortable car with really bad mileage. I don't really have a specific brand that I go for, I'm actually a little more biased toward the year of the car. Just not much of a fan of modern car designs. Late 1960s-Early 1970s being my favorite.

Sorry, didn't get to finish typing and posted before I was done lol. I like the current bounty system because A) It's one of the few remaining functional pieces of the original APB, and a crucial one at that. I know I know just because something is from the original game doesn't make it great, but my B) point is that as strange as this may sound, it helps balance missions. Say someone in your opposition is doing insanely well and there's no chance for you to take them down and you can't call backup for example. If they're completely dominating then they'll get a bounty and anyone in the district could kill them, thus giving those who had no chance before a quick chance to get in there and finish the objective. Plus it's just a nice way to get some bonus cash. If it were removed then that would remove another element of the witnessing system too, which has been neutered over the years as well.

Based on the title I thought it was gonna be a "nerf this" or "remove that" or "Fix matchmaking" or "get rid of the cheaters" thread and I probably would have said who cares or stop whining. But I actually agree with you, I would like underglow too. It'd add a lot more color to the game. Imagine if police lights could be extended to underglow too. It wouldn't be worth staying away from the game if we never get it, but it would be a neat feature.

Sure it sounds a little too fantastic for APB to have a system like this, to the point where it's hard to imagine actually, but the new engine will open up a ton of possibilities in terms of how they can further develop the game in the future, and there are already games that use a phasing system. Apparently it was introduced by WoW. The way I assume it works is that it pretty much joins you into a different server without dumping the game's assets from your PC's memory which makes a loading screen unnecessary so that you can just continue playing. Only downside I see of this system is that the resync might end up being a little jarring. We might encounter a lot of "time traveler" moments where another player in their car just appears out of nowhere. My hope is that collisions with other vehicles will be disabled for a few seconds when the transition happens. Maybe the Mirage will be a DMC Delorean.

Sabertooth Helmet + Other Suggestions (Console)

I don't think you understand how things work around here. The FFA R&D III is a reskin (same stats, different visual model) as the Obir, which is a free gun. The ONLY difference it has is that it has slightly less zoom when you aim down sights. And yes, the FFA is a rifle. This is a perfect case of "If I can't have it, nobody can". Grow up. It was made unobtainable because it was part of a limited time joker box named after Tiggs, the previous community manager which is no longer with the company. It was meant to be a limited time thing. How would you feel if you had a super rare item that you paid real money for, then it was just straight up removed? That's something that, as a company, you just don't do. -
Yeah those were a lot of fun, please no teamkill event again though.

the oldest unfairest exploit in APB.

You seem to have a skewed idea of what bugs and exploits are. Everyone else seemed to explain it pretty well. -
Don't worry about it. Point is, what I'm saying is that it's not the matchmaking system's fault that it has an extremely small player pool to choose from. Think about this. 80 in a district. If you call for backup, only half of that (40) is eligible to become your teammate. Then you have to take into account how many of them are already in a mission, so that could be 20+ other people that can't be called in, so you're left with 20 that could be called in. Of those 20, how many do you think are readied up? Certainly not all of them, because most are probably goofing off. So let's say there's 10 players readied up for the sake of this example. How many of them are in groups, and how would those groups affect the balance of the mission? Lets say there's a group of two bronzes. And then two groups of four golds. Your opponents are two golds and a silver, which group would throw the mission more out of whack? Either of the two gold groups. So the system decides giving you the two bronzes would be the better choice. It's rarely fair, but that's just how I think asymmetrical matchmaking works.

Those aren't bugs. Just inconveniences mostly. Your team just called you in for backup at the last moment. Sure that's annoying n' all but at least you weren't there for too long. The weapons people are using plays no hand in the matchmaking, that's up to you to counter. When you called for backup that bronze you got was probably the only one readied up that wasn't in a mission at the time, or at least the most compatible out of them. Everything that happened there was unfortunate and bad luck, but you can't blame the matchmaking system for everything.

Phasing means a seamless transition between servers with no loading screens. When it transitions you to a new server the only thing it will have to do is resync server-side objects like cars. You can still continue driving around while you transition without having to respawn. This has been confirmed by Matt.

The absolute state of APB players
BrandonBranderson replied to Rico2k's topic in General Discussion Archive
Same thing has been happening to me a lot lately. Been getting bronze team mates in the silver district and when I ask them if they're new to the game they say yes, but then when I tell them to go to the bronze district and carefully explain how to do it, then they suddenly don't know English. Same thing goes for calling for back up. We'll have a team where I'm the only silver and there's two bronzes, but then we get put up against a team of 4 golds and they don't know how to call for backup, and when I explain to them how to do it they can't understand me. So then we're basically getting our asses kicked for the next 10 minutes. -
Back when BattleEye was implemented, the AlienFX lighting was disabled due to an incompatibility with BattleEye. Now that we're using EAC I'd really like this to come back, and possibly add Razer Chroma support too? There's just something really satisfying about seeing your system start flashing like police lights when a mission starts.

Wish I'd seen this sooner, I'd love to participate. Nobody does this kinda fun stuff on Jericho (that I'm aware of at least).

As much as I'd like to believe it would, adding a new threat level won't do any good unfortunately. Dethreaters won't ever achieve the new threat because they'll still keep bouncing between gold and silver so that they can stay in bronze districts. Don't take this the wrong way, but have you been paying attention to LO's posts lately? Just recently they posted an update on the Engine Upgrade and said that they're finally done copying all ~1500 file packages, which I assume was the bulk of the work. Now for the rest of the month they're going to be running commandlets to resolve conflicts and the focus of next month is going to be bug fixes until they put the upgrade up on OTW for everyone to test. Tbh I don't know what part of that means because I'm no programmer, but the way Matt was talking about it really made it sound like it's going to be happening sooner than later.

I have pretty shitty RNG luck with the PMG tbh. I started using it again recently and I definitely wouldn't call it op, but it is a pretty strong choice. If it was more consistent and predictable then I'd go so far as to call it a little op. I remember back when everyone complained about it being op. Good times.
