The zombie game market is over saturated and dead at this point. Plus it's just not fitting to APB. Despite being a crazy action game, it's still pretty grounded in reality. This would require them to completely come up with an entirely new AI system. Currently pedestrians are only able to walk on a set path that they can not deviate from.

Hell no. Sounds extremely generic and doesn't fit APB's sound. It doesn't make me want to fight or put me in a creative mood. They're bringing back the old login screen anyway which has a creative vibe but also has a "calm before the storm" feeling which fits the game perfectly. This just sounds like a day in FL Studio.

FBW firing mechanic is bad for the game.

Can we nerf Les Claypool already? He's like when the SHAW was accidentally changed to fire OPGL grenades. -
Updating Some Vehicles / Adding Later-Gen Vehicles
BrandonBranderson replied to Vitrorax's topic in Game
Some updated vehicle models would be really nice. I mean, the Growl is the only car that was designed within the last decade. All the other cars were designed by 2008. So San Paro is pretty much stuck in the mid 2000s. I think the best way to go about doing this would be to add updated body kits for all of the old vehicles, which the Civilian vehicles would default to so the game doesn't look as dated. When you purchase one of these vehicles you still get the old base version by default, but the updated kit is available. That would be to keep player designs consistent and would make it so nothing needs to be replaced. Mid 2000's cars had a distinctly shitty and bland look to them, so spicing up the civilian traffic with the more unique modern designs would be great. The current generation of cars tend to look a lot more aggressive and just higher end than those of the mid 2000s. The older generation of cars just looked cheap and boring. Maybe throw in a system that randomizes civilian vehicles to use different kits, so there's a random chance that civs could be driving an older model or a newer one. -
RIOT Stress Test 4/24 Feedback Thread
BrandonBranderson replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Apologies for not posting this sooner, I had an appointment last night and was pretty tired afterwards. 1. How does RIOT compare to other APB game modes? It's definitely interesting and I can see a lot of potential in the mode, but it needs a lot of work if it's going to be up to standard with the rest of the game. 2. Would you encourage your friends to play RIOT? I'd encourage them to try it out, but currently it just doesn't feel finished enough and I don't feel like they would stay very long. Also needs more direct tutorials. The new loading screen is cool and explains the basis of it, but what if some people load in too fast? They might miss like half of the instructions. The tutorial window should include more pictures of the items unique to this event on their respective tutorial window pages. 3. How would you explain RIOT to someone who has never seen it? A Battle Royale mode where the players decide which areas become out of bounds. 4. What ONE THING would you change about RIOT if you could? The spawn system. Dear god the spawn system. This happened a couple of times last night: I die, then I respawn between two enemies already having a gun fight that are literally 10 feet apart and I instantly get melted in the crossfire. I'd recommend setting a minimum distance that you can spawn away from an enemy. Like 30m at least. 5. What is your favorite aspect of RIOT? This mode adds a LOT of new stuff I never thought I would see in APB, Changes to Financial being the biggest. I saw that you guys changed Central park in the screenshots from before, but I didn't expect the changes to extend across the entire map. Very well done, it feels like a different map. 6. What about RIOT do you like the least? The burnt out shells of cars don't have physics. This makes it extremely hard to drive anywhere when you actually manage to get a hold of one of the very few cars scattered around. Not enough drivable cars in general. Not enough weapons scattered around. Al in all, it was pretty fun once you got the hang of it, and the different atmosphere it gives from the main game is definitely welcome to break up the monotony of the past 8 years. There's for sure some work to be done before it's up to snuff with the rest of the game and I'm excited to see where it goes by the time it's done. I'll try my best to attend the next tests but no guarantees because the hours are kinda off for anyone working a 9-5 job in the US. Only reason I was able to attend the stress test was because I had a dentist appointment so I only had a half day at work. -
Gotta agree with Kewlin here. A big part of what makes APB fun is how ridiculous it is and a lot of that comes from the driving. Would I like to see vehicles rebalanced? Yes. But not like this. Making any vehicle less fun to drive is a terrible idea, even if the thing that makes it fun is caused by an oversight. I don't even think we can call wheelies an oversight, G1 knew from the start that they would happen when they added Nitro. They even had a short clip of a Vegas doing a backflip from a standstill on their dev blog before the release of Nitro. Plus wheelies add to the "awe factor" for new players. Newbie's reactions are hilarious to seeing a Vegas pop a wheelie or jump off of another car for the first time.

Can ex-cheaters really go legit?
BrandonBranderson replied to Hiaro's topic in General Discussion Archive
Depends on whether they're lazy or not. If they're lazy then they will keep cheating, if not then they'll get off their @ss and play for themselves. -
That's a really good idea actually. It always bugged me how empty that corner by the galleria was. My only concern about new areas is that Social was obviously designed for way more people at a time than we currently have in it due to the low population, which makes it feel big and empty. Everyone always standing at Diamond Plaza, the only place where you can customize doesn't help. Hopefully the population will get a big surge soon with the EU and Riot so players can be spread out and Social won't feel so empty. But I also feel like a casino would also draw a lot more people to Social on it's own. Personally I love casino games and would probably spend a lot of time there. Having it in the opposite corner of the map might also help with it looking less dead because there would be players moving between the two areas pretty often, making it look a lot more busy.

Does anyone remember who won the Clown OSMAW?
BrandonBranderson replied to illgot's topic in General Discussion Archive
It'd be awesome if LO held an event like that again with the winners receiving personalized skins. -
God dammit. Now Yood is a Juggalo I guess.
-
Not as a new district but as a new area in social then sure. Maybe they could put some of those empty rooms in the galleria to some use.
-
Awesome, can't wait!
-
HA! I love this. I don't even smoke but I'll buy into it because I really like the idea of an event/celebration aimed at the game's target age group. Noticed a couple of people here being so sour about this lol. Cheer up, its just for fun while we wait for the real updates. Also I love that devil's cabbage symbol.
-
Oh So you're just one of the ones upset about the Nekrova merge. Let me explain how that third screenshot is in fact just the social district ported to GTAV.
-
That 3rd one is just social district in GTA V Gotta say though, I do love those old clouds in the first picture. The sky used to be so pretty in this game. I'm pretty sure the 2nd picture is a really old one of 3.5. Based on what Matt said before it sounds like the visuals are going to be different from how they were in that screenshot. Edit: Moderators... Assemble!

Everyone in this thread so far has said that it gives no advantage. That doesn't change just because you're using a mouse with an unlocked scroll wheel. What is a kick weapon? You can't change the base fire rate of a gun by using this method. Every gun has hard limits on how fast they can shoot. The only thing that can alter those limits are mods. You never know how long something is going to take to change in APB. Changing any little thing in this game can cause something completely unrelated to break because of how shit the coding is. That would then need fixed, which would take up more of the dev's time. I'm assuming you just heard about scroll wheel shooting in the chat and then started noticing people firing guns really fast? Some people just have their timing down properly.
-
Why waste the dev's valuable time removing it when it doesn't actually cause any problems?

Revert the assault rifle changes G1 applied
BrandonBranderson replied to KyoukiDotExe's topic in General Discussion Archive
They were introduced because they were part of Qwentle's "Vision" for APB. Pretty awful idea tbh. All it did was turn a lot of guns into RNG cannons, and in the case of the M-1922 Typewriter, made it useless. -

lol. Don't mind Tiptoe's broken wrist or the fact that she's one handing an HVR.

Let's talk about Clothes space in Character Customization
BrandonBranderson replied to a topic in Game
I have 95 spaces and I even find that really limiting. -
I really like this one. I'd like it a lot more if the background of the criminal part had a slight red tint, and the background of the enforcer part had a slight blue tint.

Let's finally talk about Cross Gun Event...
BrandonBranderson replied to Mitne's topic in General Discussion Archive
From my experience last night the same guy dominated every round by either hiding on the roof of the Port Authority, or in that hallway with the breakable windows in the courtyard behind Brittany and Byron. You know the one I'm talking about. Wasn't really that fun. -

Would you rather be mugging Jesus to take his bread and wine to sell off to contacts? That might actually be kinda funny...
