Going just once to FC gets your Tutorial quest done so you do not have to go there ever again. Which is nice.

Release the Engine upgrade this weekend
Bambola replied to BernsteinGirl's topic in General Discussion Archive
Waiting for the (in)famous Engine Upgrade is the only reason many people are still around and didn't give up on APB completely. If the company ever releases it, there will be nothing left we could wait and quarrel about, no more reasons to stick around as well. -
Yeah, pity there is FFBans no more, or something like it, it was an intellectually stimulating and thought-provoking website. Through constructive criticism by fellow players, people who got banned had an opportunity to admit and learn from their mistakes, correct and apologize to those that were adversely affected. On the other hand, legitimate players had their chance to learn from the experience of others and eventually give some friendly bits of advice. One could put forward opposing arguments to argue for opposing viewpoints, often through objective attestations and rebuttals, resulting in exceptionally sophisticated debates seeking feasible compromises. It was a place where participants in those rational group discussions could get more flexible and overcome personal biased views, which essentially just embodied principles the APB community was founded on - maturity, mutual respect, understanding, supportiveness and benevolence.

True, we need new people. New kinds of posts and new gifs.

how to not get angry while playing apb
Bambola replied to foscor77's topic in General Discussion Archive
What I often have a chance to see is people turning their gaming experience into threats for their ego and failing to do so leads to their aggression and frustration, they become rude, mean and hostile towards others. To avoid this and getting angry one should grow up, mentally. Perhaps single player games taught us we have to win, we do not have to win each time. As long as one has fun in the process the outcome is not really important. It's even better if we do it with friends, the biggest failures can be just a good reason for a laugh. More than often it actually is. Games should be played for fun and leisure, above all. If you're a competitive type of a player then acknowledge the fact there will always be a better player out there than you are, even if you are the best one sometimes odds won't be in your favor. Losing just makes an opportunity for enhancement and improvement if that's something you care of. Questioning yourself how much you actually value a random opinion of a random online person you do not care for is something everyone should ask before they let themselves to rage over a line of text in their whisper. If someone is being a prick without any manners, playing unfair or lacking any sense of sportsmanship, why would you be descending to their level? Let them climb to yours, if capable of doing so. Finally, appreciate your own time, once you are finally done with your real life duties and got to spend some quality time gaming, it's absurd to let yourself being upset over a silly game, it shouldn't be a conduit for stress, rather an outlet. -
One simply cannot please the APB:R's community.

I'd say it's karma. Check your ethics settings.

There are plenty of threads accusing people of cheating, which doesn't mean those accused were actually cheating. The truth is I was inactive for the past year or so and perhaps things have changed, yet we're talking about APB here, I do not think anything has significantly changed, I'd be surprised it did and in that case, I could be wrong regarding my statement. However, while I was pretty much active and was playing in silver and bronze districts both, over the course of 5 years or so I could literally count on the fingers of my both hands how many times I saw a real gold player in a bronze district, I am not talking about top tier players, rather about average golds who got their gold threat and never dropped down to silver again. Most of those I saw were just quickly alting, ranking up to R40-ish and never coming back once they disconnect for the first time. My point is any of the "gold" players in bronze one can see on a regular basis there are just mediocre silvers being "gold" thanks to the faulty threat system and each one of them drops their threat down after a while (takes more for better silvers) in silver districts when they face real golds, whether they do it deliberately or not. They are simply not good enough to stay gold (for any reason - they can't; do not try, they lag, low fps... etc.) hence they play where they can and more or less belong to, given the game circumstances. I will go as far as to say it doesn't take much to make a difference between real and "fake" gold players, but many people in bronze districts use the threat (dis)balance to justify their own incompetence, excluding the legitimate bronze and green players here. ~ For the TL;DR (de)generations: The next two posts sum up my point of view pretty much accurately :

Just remember to mask their names next time and you will be able to post it. It doesn't really matter if someone is breaking a rule in the game, publicly showing their names makes you to break a rule too, although a Forum one. I know, sometimes makes little sense, but that's how it is. An example:

Appearing to be gold and being gold are two completely different things. One won't find a gold player in a bronze district, whoever you are facing in those districts is just a mediocre silver at best, regardless of their threat color.

June 2019 - Engine Upgrade progress (screenshots & video)
Bambola replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Hopefully it comes with the saturation slider. -
People, as simple as that. The responsibility of having the game in this state share people on both ends - people in charge of it and consumers. That's why I get along better with animals.

Random ingame messages are probably one of the best APB features, I have never gotten weirder, funnier, eerier or smuttier messages in any other game I played, although APB is the only PvP game amongst them. One can never be fully prepared for what they are going to read in those messages and that is exactly what makes them so compelling.

Oh, welcome to the club. Having the same issue since last summer, I can log my character and access the lobby but can't join any district from there, so eventually, I gave up on trying, after I tried everything imaginable, even getting a new computer. Let me know in case you have more luck than me and solve it. And of course, good luck.

Despite the fact I often tend to be sarcastic, I am afraid that's not the case here, especially after I said I waited for more than two months myself. The aim of my post was to answer the OP's question - the Support is unarguably working, it just takes time and one's patience. Now whether their response time is justified, could it be improved or not are subjects I cannot discuss given I do not have any insight into their situation and priority system.

Waited two and a half months for a response to my ticket regarding not so insignificant issue. Patience is a virtue one should possess when it comes to dealing with the Support, the comforting thing is your ticket will be reviewed and the problem hopefully resolved.

Can't figure out is the supermegacutie you're talking about on the first or the second image. Each to their own, I guess.

I like the way it is now just because my team and opposition almost always show up in a Vegas or Pioneer making me to stand out even more in my already outstanding Fresno.

Once one manages to differentiate between genders, gender expressions, gender identities and sexual orientations soon realizes after all there are only two genders. The way you feel, swing and label yourself is a completely different thing.

What helps you win every match?
Bambola replied to Defibrillator's topic in General Discussion Archive
You are most likely posing the wrong questions to the wrong people. Instead, you should ask yourself only – "What I want to do today in the game to have some quality gaming time?", at the end of the day it doesn't really matter if you have won or lost most of your matches, if you have spent all your time driving and chatting, just have been in Social fooling around or creating, the only thing which actually matters is whether or not you had fun and feel like having your gaming needs fulfilled. -
Why do most people write in the forums like it's the news?
Bambola replied to Crunk's topic in General Discussion Archive
I like the fact the APB:R Forum is like the news, sipping my coffee silently in the morning and occasionally scrolling down the Forum is the only way I "play" this game for the past year or so. Having tons of the fundamentally same topics yet worded in a different way perhaps seemingly makes the Forum to look like it fails to deliver on its biggest promise - to tell us what's exactly happening with the game, however it gives us a precise insight into what is not happening and that is what interests me the most. Regardless, a rhetorical post scrutinizing the issues which at this point demand quixotic measures was something refreshing to read today, thank you. -
Because of the benevolent community, of course. Maybe the game isn't so great but the community and Forum are.

Sometimes it takes time and a lot of it. I had this misfortune of not being able to access the Districts in December last year, I contacted the Support on the 30th of December and they replied on the 5th of March this year. They were very polite and apologized for the delay. As understanding person as I am, I couldn't really get upset over the fact I waited for so long whilst being unable to play for more than two months. The only downside is my problem hasn't been solved yet and still persists but that's another subject. Anyway, just have patience, they will respond eventually.

Unfortunately, it has a little to do with the APB itself, people in general were never like this before. I'll restrain myself from going into details looking for the reasons why it is like this, whether because of the global depression (not referring to the worldwide economy, rather to the mental state) their harsh childhood, bad upbringing, lack of sex or simply because they fail to develop social skills due the modern communication methods (having 1500 friends on their social platforms yet none of them is a real one, etc) whichever reason could be, you will find a lot of anxious, ignorant, rude and easily provoked people who will not hesitate to discharge all their frustrations, anger and what not else upon you, often without any valid reasons. APB:R as a competitive game, like any other of the same type is just a fertile ground for spreading toxicity. Once I asked for advice what we can do to deal with this issue a wise person told me: "Absolutely nothing".
