They reverted Improved Rifling but they didn't revert the range reduction on carbines (OSCAR, Joker Carbine, VBR, etc.) Then they nerfed the range on semi-auto rifles, because they were out of balance. Then nerfed shotgun range, SMG range, and destroyed the RFP. All this because they refused to revert the carbines.

Someone was griefing my clan and random grouped players, all because one of our clan members wouldn't date them. (Online, not IRL). It took about a year for the first ban under G1 ownership. Not sure if their second account got banned or the griefer got bored.

Conflicting names should not be an issue. APB uses character IDs. The only issue I see is players getting confused, and possibly having issues using the /w and other name related commands. This can be solved by adding "-NA -EU" at the end of their names, and give those players a one time name change in case they don't like the NA, EU tag. The database size I can see being an issue. I would say keep the databases separate, but the current game probably has hard coded crap that can only use 1 database, which would be a pain to sift though. Hopefully this is being fixed in the engine upgrade, otherwise I don't know how they're going to get phasing across NA and EU working. The databases aren't getting smaller. I rather have them go back to a central NA location instead of splitting it between east and west. It would cut the server cost in half, and reduce the average latency between players. For me, west is unplayable, sometimes worse than playing on EU. My buddy out in LA has packet loss on NA east.

You shouldn't get trade locked just because your external IP address changed. Most ISPs assign dynamic IP addresses to home users. This means their IP address will most likely change whenever their modem restarts. This also means you can't access all features in game when traveling for work. It's a big middle finger to people in the service. They should be tracking your hardware ID. The only time it will change is if you change hardware or reinstall your operating system. They have to track you hwid for the anticheat to work properly.

They're teenagers, they find anything funny. Are all of you so old you can't remember the stupid things you found funny as a kid?

Is US east now having maintenance? East servers are down. This includes Social district.

Threat Segregation and NA bein' dead
BlatMan replied to stateofthegame's topic in General Discussion Archive
The only time silver is available is when enough borderline silver/gold players are stuck with gold threat. These players can't go down in threat while in Bronze without intentionally dethreating, due to there not being permanent golds in the bronze district. At the same time, they don't want to face 4 man groups of max threat players over and over. There needs to be ways to progress contacts and unlock customization that does not involve being locked into a single game mode and single district. Contacts should be available in all districts, including fightclub. Symbols shouldn't be locked behind single contacts. Consumables should be made into a normal mod that's yellow, and removed from random rewards so symbols can be unlocked faster. I cannot unlock all symbols on my newer characters due to the consumable rewards. I've got pages of "You won a mission reward" while at the same time missing half the symbols on some sheets. -
Why is friendly fire still a thing?

1 team kill gives you a demerit. Suicide needs 2 for a demerit. -
It's no different than battleye since the server sided half does not work on APB's servers. If LO want to give it a try sure go ahead but I don't think it will reduce cheating. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though.

At least silvers with the grenade launcher will be useful. -
I criticize LO all the time. I still can post and play. Than again, there's cheaters that record themselves cheating all the time, and they can still play. `\(O_o)/` Actually I did get a temporary forum suspension for reporting a racist post. The mod who reviewed it must have been high af or something.

GTA online had lazy devs that made everything client sided. APB is mostly server sided.

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution released - VOTE FOR APB
BlatMan replied to Uhtdred's topic in General Discussion Archive
It's 100fps for under 120hz monitors, 145fps for 120hz or higher. You need to trick APB into thinking you have a 120hz monitor to get the higher fps on 60hz monitors. LO added other graphics options, I don't get why they didn't include a fps setting. The character sliding bug with 130+ fps still has not been fixed. -

None of them will use it because it will put more stress on the GPU than just using low res. For them every nanosecond counts. You also don't want the GPU being heavily loaded because it creates input lag. Nvidia and AMD have solutions for that but it's still not as good as lowing your graphics or setting a fps cap to stay under the 99% load mark. I think ya'll need to stop browsing porn on the family PC. -
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution released - VOTE FOR APB
BlatMan replied to Uhtdred's topic in General Discussion Archive
Is your PC from 2010? Actually, even some of those can run APB at 100fps with minor tweaks. A single 9600GT (released 2008) can run APB at 60fps or higher if you turn down the particles. My last card, GTX 970 (released 2014), runs APB at 1440p 120fps max settings. I was also using a 650ti (2012) for a little while and that ran APB at 1080p 100+ fps, with the only tweak needed again was to turn down the particles. Besides, I doubt this will run efficiently on such old hardware. -
Pre made groups are killing the game.
BlatMan replied to PotatoeGirl's topic in General Discussion Archive
The only issue with groups is they can choose not have other players added to their team by unchecking the "alliance for open missions" checkbox in the group tab. If there's 4 players ready on one side and 2 duos on the other, those players will not match together. Instead, they all get placed in separate unopposed missions. This leads to longer matchmaking time, or worse never finding opposition. -

We don't need more blur simulators. -
You can, but keep in mind there's a 3 day expiration date on mail sent to yourself. I've had stuff deleted because of this.

Can Jericho Merge with Citadel already?
BlatMan replied to Shimmer's topic in General Discussion Archive
Yup. 1 server populated but there's 16+ running. I don't know who their current provider is but I doubt they're saving money running 16+ when only 2 at max are needed. Going by G1's old requirements, they only need 1 core per district, with high single thread performance. A single server with 4 cores at or over 3.5Ghz can handle NA's current requirements. Social doesn't need to be low latency for the players, so it could be hosted in EU if latency isn't an issue with their character databases. I bet Matt's workstation could run the districts better than what is barely running them currently. -
It was suppose to be a rebuild. Clean up the old code and move it to a newer version of the same engine with 64 bit support. This was back in 2012 or so, when UE3 still had a lot of support. Now it's more or less just get the current content and code working in the new engine so users with the latest graphics cards don't crash.

Can Jericho Merge with Citadel already?
BlatMan replied to Shimmer's topic in General Discussion Archive
At least give us functioning servers. NA is all about who gets the least packet loss. EU had high latency but at least when you get a hitmarker it means you hit the player. Seriously though. You're paying for 16+ servers in the US, when only 2 are populated at most. Replace East and West with a central location, like in Kansas, Oklahoma, or Texas. This will cut it down to 8 servers (2 per threat level). You can cut it down to 4 by removing green and gold districts. Those districts are rarely used. Fight club really doesn't need new server spin-up with the current population. You can get it down to 7 servers (4 action, 2 fight, 1 social). This means less cost per server, or more importantly, better servers at the same cost. If you can't change the current infrastructure, removing east or west and upgrading to servers with higher CPU core clocks and more memory bandwidth would cut out a lot of the packet loss issues. Right now the /latencytest shows server tickrate spikes worse than G1's test on AWS. Those tests were done 4+ years ago. Hardware has only gotten better, yet the current servers are somehow worse. -
Eh, depends. Most low rank bronze are fine. They're new and willing to play the game. Better than these high silver, low golds that sit afk or throw the mission.
-
I agree. You can't rank up your character as a new player if one district isn't populated as is. Having threat segregation means you can't play at all if you know how to press F and maybe left click. Threat segregation also inflates threat. There's no real golds in the bronze district. Even the ones that dethreat are low gold on average. What happens is silvers turn gold, bronzes turn silver, etc. Then those silvers can't join bronze, so they're forced to play in silver. If the district is populated they end up dethreating, intentionally or not, and join bronze. Or, they don't play at all if the silver district is not populated. Maybe it's a generation thing. I expect some people to be better than me and some to be worse. I don't expect to have it easy if I don't put in any effort to begin with. If I wanted an effortless experience I'd play Minecraft with creative mode. Heck, even that takes some effort to build something you're proud of.

Current OCA has no bloom if you shoot it at the same speed as the old OCA from 2014. The problem is the lack of range. 17M is too short considering that's the CSG + IR3 max damage range. Base OCA should be increased back to 30M to put it between shotguns and other SMG/AR hybrids.
