What defines a "tryhard"?
Noob_Guardian replied to Elitist1337's topic in General Discussion Archive
So you're saying dethreating to farm new players is permissible? Or only that "farming new players" is in the spirit of the game? I mean, if you think farming new players is socially "okay" and a healthy mindset to play this game by, then by all means admit it. We know that dethreating which is literally done to farm newbies is bannable, wouldn't that hold true for the "reason" of dethreating as well? I'm not talking about "just playing and killing new players and winning". I'm talking about literally "farming" them for roles by intentionally making the matches last longer than they normally would and by all means "should have" lasted. Is that okay to do? Do you think LO believes that it's in their best interest to "encourage" that type of gameplay? (Aka, you 100% would have won on stage 1/2 if you didn't keep letting them get the objectives in the last 30 seconds or so until final stage 6 and 40 kills later.) It's a simple yes or no. Are we trying to encourage game growth as a community, or are we hoping to stomp it out further by "doing what's mechanically possible so it must be okay"? (Because that's the discussion you just walked into) -

Pretty sure banning dethreaters and mission AFKers is part of Rule 2. Just as mission griefing/blocking. Why "shouldn't" intentionally farming new players fall under it? They won't ban anyone who's clearly playing fair, not cheating, not breaking CoC, and playing "in the spirit of the game" as per LO has stated. Is "Farming new players" in the "spirit of the game"? I'd argue that farming people in general, actually isn't, is gameplay enjoyability for the community a "bad thing"? I think you have either taken what I said wrong, or you strongly believe that farming a bunch of newbies for 35 kills a match+ (not talking fight club) is permissible. Do understand, I'm not saying one cannot camp items in tough spots, nor that they cannot/should not "run" in missions. That's fair game. I'm simply saying that bypassing design loopholes/glitches (medium item ms exploit), farming new players, and such, are things that are defined by the CoC and EULA, as things not permissible. If you wish to object, feel free to, but also understand, the game's CoC and EULA are pretty clear. *points out literal rules in the CoC and EULA* "OMG YeR a StUpId ViCtiM!" Who's the real victim, the one following the rules or the one breaking them? I suppose I am the victim then for attempting to play "in the spirit of the game" against those who do not follow them for a clear advantage. -
I believe that the FAR is a good alternative, though I somewhat disagree. When it comes to assault rifles, i believe the star is on very near footing to the FAR, it's just people prefer to ignore its existence. It's a very competent weapon and I'm always amazed that people choose to ignore it's merits over the FAR. For example, the FAR has almost the exact same accuracy stats as the STAR aside from a better .5 marksman (.45 FAR vs .50 STAR) difference, and a 1.35 star vs 1.65 far shot modifier cap (STAR wins with smaller max bloom). TTK is .05 a difference, which totals to 1 "extra" bullet shot after ~14 shots. Granted, ammo and reload speeds are different (spraying star has a better chance if it's longer than the FAR's capacity without EM), but the guns are "almost" identical in accuracy, and recovery stats. As such, why shouldn't the STAR also be looked at differently now? Especially after the nerfs to the NTEC, and "near" identical-ness in functionality to the FAR.

yeah, just remove ntec already Don't pretend that 90% ntec usage is healthy even after other AR buffs

If you can't see the correlation of a fair and equal playing field and such "invisible rulesets" it's either you're too ignorant to give a fuck, or too stupid to know them in the first place. I'm not obligated to inform you of such correlation, because you honestly don't care about it in the first place. So farming new players is socially and permissible by GM's because the game mechanics allow it to happen? cool, i'll mark that in my "tacticool notebook" of things to follow when I wish to destroy the game population further. "2. Player may not engage in any conduct or communication while using the APB Reloaded Services which is unlawful or which restricts or inhibits any other Player from using or enjoying these Services." hmm.... Every game glitch and exploit that exists, game mechanics allow you to do. Everything from farming new players to other unsavory things is capable in game. Saying that "mechanics allow it so it's permissible" is too broad a statement to be taken as a serious game play tactic It's also why the COC exists, as despite such things being "mechanically possible" it also means that you as a player have the obligation not to do so. "15. Abuse or exploit bugs, undocumented features, loopholes, design errors or problems in the game. Player acknowledges and agrees to report all problems, errors or bugs in the game to APB Reloaded as soon as they are found as their continued use can damage the enjoyment of the game for all its players. Those users caught cheating may suffer suspension from the APB Reloaded game, or manipulation of their character to remedy the game abuse. Please be considerate at all times of other members playing APB Reloaded. APB Reloaded will use diligent efforts to fix these types of issues in a timely manner, and will give all customers the benefit of the doubt when dealing with these problems." The CoC also means that you as a player also have an obligation to attempt to not to bypass any ingame mechanics. Such as bypass speed limitations, and items in walls, players in places they shouldn't be, etc. It seems that people who say "it's possible so it should be done" reaaaally don't understand what they agreed to in the EULA/CoC. Said "limitations" have some form of backing, and those against them, don't actually care about their little "I accept" agreements to play. -

No, my sister did. "Veterans" are a broad range of players. Most of them that I know actually have Killer Rabbit's mindset of "if it's possible it's permissible". For example, i know i've bitched out plenty of "veterans" for literally farming new players (killing them until near end time of round, leaving/dying on purpose and continuing on in the match) but you know, it's possible so it must be okay??? Do I have an issue of invisible rulesets? Not particularly, every game has their own "rulesets" players put on themselves, whether competitively or casually. No riot shields, banning "x character or gun" in competitive matchups, no farming newbies in newbie zones, no explosives, etc. Such invisible rules exist in pretty much every game to some degree. Does everyone listen to them all the time? Nope, that's when you have to work around it (Riotshield meet molotov). However, they tend to exist in almost every game to a degree for the sole purpose of general player enjoyment, and fair competitive match-ups. Why is it an issue then, that a general playbase identify things themselves that allow fair and competitive match-ups/fun casual matches? There isn't. Considering that no-one has had issues with knowing what's lame or not in any game, let alone APB, especially when the "what's lame" hasn't actually changed in APB for like 6 years, i consider that a non issue. APB is about customization "be what you can't be", its not "do whatever you want". Most "cranky vets" can easily pub stomp any "newbie" that tries to do "whatever they want" regardless. So the "real" issue you are talking about is youself being told by other vets that "you shouldn't do that". I've complained plenty about the mechanics, as they've been broken for ages. You know that just as well as I do "as a Vet" that there's a number of mechanic issues that have yet to be addressed because of the removal of some feature, or the lack of being able to "fix" the actual problem. -
What's your opinion on explosives in Asylum?
Noob_Guardian replied to SkrotN's topic in General Discussion Archive
I havent really touched the game since PoE Heist came out, i played for like a day after the PMG nerf, but havnt gotten to really play much. However, i don't mind explosives, sure they can be annoying, but I find them no less annoying than facepalming into shotgun corner campers, and hvr's as you try to cross an open area. As for OCA, yeah no clue why they listened to the buff it crowd, when the PMG nerf was all that really was needed. -

Explosives are annoying but they really aren't an issue. I'd rather they disable shotguns and pmgs on asylum. -

You do realize a number of vehicles were initially buffed when the alig got a hard damage buff? Including the pio/especio? You realize that gunfights in vehicles actually used to be a thing, and has existed since beta, and not once has been decried against by the game creators/moderators? The made them move slower, NOT because it isn't intended, but because it would be hard as fuck to think of winning against runners otherwise. They ALSO still have not fixed vegas pushing a pio with vip/item. You ever play pre-nerf slowdown? The whole point of the nerf was to allow the "attackers" a chance because how easy it was to win otherwise. Believe it or not, you couldn't just "chase" a vegas and catch up from behind, and you barely have 1 chance to do so now. You have to get ahead of them, something most players can't figure out, sadly that means using ones head and is rather difficult, and only allows for 1, "maybe" 2 chances at best. Merged. I always disagreed with that viewpoint. There's a lot of things that are limited in game normally, that you can bypass. This doesn't make them "sportsman or okay" to do. For example, hud markers exist to identify objective points. IF the game makers wanted to to defend/protect/stop something, they have marked it via hud as we see for all objectives. For example, item drops say "defend" but said items have no hud, because you're supposed to defend that area. As such some game play tactics aren't actually "intended" per say, because there's no markers indicating that said items or vehicles be hunted down and camped. A number of missions with vehicles have no hud markers, means you should try stop the vehicle or item at the point. It's the players themselves that decide "you know what I want an easy win, fuck the hud markers i'm camping x 500m from the objective hud". There's running, which is "okay normally" cheesy yes but w/e. Not an issue right? They have a built in speed and acceleration limiter which makes running harder to do? Cool, now lets bypass it by vegas pushing a vehicle. It can be done, so it must be okay! (it's really bullshoot and needs fixed, but they want to be lazy) Here we now have medium items, they have a base speed limit right? Cool, now lets just do this glitchy looking jumpy thingy to bypass that! Cool, it's possible must be okay! (again, needs fixed but lazy) Game mechanics allow you to toss it into a wall though, so it has to be fair game, it's not an exploit, it's playing as intended because it's possible. You're allowed to do anything to win because the game mechanics let you. Well, the game mechanics just let me put the item into this wall for safe keeping, so it can't be exploiting, you're just a bad player complaining. Get the item first if you're so good. -

Let's be honest, those players already stomped the community to nonexistance and got bored of playing against eachother. A small handful remains and constantly call on forums to make the game easier for them. -
No new content G1 didn't do crap with EU as promised, 4x4 is broken. Carspawns ruined the game, etc.

it's an old random joke from somewhere and i never got why it was called that aside from the joke that it's overrun by Brs/latinos? Beats me.

that was actually intended, so it's moreso "players who make the game extremely boring with bland gameplay and hard to counter tactics which make it impossible to play on equal footing" -
and preventing firing at enemies to boot kek

Kevlar 3 barely does much to begin with, even if speed was buffed and regen decreased from base, it only protects from 1-2 bullets depending on gun, and it doesn't even matter against others like several shotguns. It should do a % damage reduction, that way it'll have a better effect rather than more life, which still barely matters considering you die to most explosions all the same. Kev is only decent atm with cqc weapons or shaw. If someone's using kev, they're still sniper, grenade, ltl, and shotgun bait. Any regen buff should be approached extremely cautiously. While I agree it would be "nice", it also could make the game feel much worse unless CA was removed or made into a single mod like fragile/flak if regen was messed with. Regen is slow, for a reason, and it's honestly not a bad thing, this game was meant to have much higher TTK's than we currently see in APB as well. You can see this from the lack of cover and how RTW had higher TTKs. (Ironically G1 seems to have intentionally botched both high TTK tests) It's also a bit ironic that you want to bring back jump shooting, which is broken in its own right, especially due to the fact that you can simply "jump" and fire and hit enemies as if they didnt have any cover, even AFTER G1 slightly modified cover and hitboxes in an attempt to reduce (but not fix) the issue.

Mission Impossible Patch Announcement
Noob_Guardian replied to Sakebee's topic in General Discussion Archive
Blowtorch was broken. I think that the nerf my have hit a little hard on the ammo capacity, however the time to repair should definitely have been increased. -
Tell that to the Odin series then which has the same ttk as oscar Weapon handling and accuracy means everything. Weapons that are accurate and ez to handle like the oscar, are better than weapons that are somewhat accurate and easy to handle, and those hard to handle but very accurate.
-
they should have left OCA as is and nerfed the PMG, it was dumb imo to buff the OCA and nerf the PMG, when the issue was how strong the PMG was in the first place. Though i suppose the rebuffed the oca due to shotguns? Which was why they originally buffed it before they reverted it. PMG needed the nerf, though i agree other weapon changes seem... dumb, like the snubs equip time instead of shotgun "bolt timer" etc. It would be honestly funny if they made it so if you didn't pump the shotgun and went pistol, you have to repump it before firing again if there were rounds left.

i'll have to re-buy pig to see later, but i don't think its 2s
-
No-one is asking to keep pig the same, 800-850 stamina damage would have been sufficient, not 650 for one 10m shot with a .52/.6 equip with a 1.25s reload (with constant ghost shots). Who cares if any weapon can set up the pig though, you still have to move from cover, fire, move back, then fire again, which would either be no different from shotgun kills or scout kills. If you have no cover, then that's whatever time out of cover + shots fired +.52/.6+time to fire which still is greater than most TTK's which hover at 7, plus you have to be within 10m. The whole "pig issue" can pretty much be summed up with this sentence. Sorry you ran in and got ambushed, have you tried playing smarter? Then wouldn't that be more of an issue with ISSR-B stamina damage? ISSR-B was created AFTER the pig, as such any such balance would then be the fault of the creator of it, and not the pig. You could have easily went with nerfing the PIG less, and nerfing the Perc stamina damage for a better finite balance, especially when it comes to other LTL. It sounds more like you have a personal vendetta with the PIG, rather than an unbiased opinion. and Lily is right, there are far more deadlier and more annoying synergies than pig n perc and when you look at reality, this whole "rebalance" could have been handled much better.
-
They really should have just halved perc stamina damage and put pig at 800-850 and called it a day. The fact that you can still pig n perc without issue, but it made primary LTL's using pig as a sidearm just that much worse says a lot. TG-8 is much more similar to the OSCP. Least before the OSCP buffs

End of times for APB is near...
Noob_Guardian replied to Delete884943468320878423's topic in General Discussion Archive
If you can tell me where I called you a PMG or NTEC user, then you would have had a point, but I neither said you used PMG nor NTEC. You're the one making drama, I simply said that most people prefer lazy easy guns over most other weapons that can be just as good, simply because they don't want to put in the little extra effort. This was NOT a personal attack on you, but an observation on APB's playerbase in general, if you missed the "most" in the post as well, I clearly didn't say "all". You clearly seem to think I have a bone to pick with you for some reason, might I suggest not being so self centered? - See now "that" was a personal "attack". -
End of times for APB is near...
Noob_Guardian replied to Delete884943468320878423's topic in General Discussion Archive
they still do, not anyone's but your own fault for not using them. The only "crappy" f2p guns are the NFAS, arguably DMR, and LTL, aside from pistols. But most guns take more effort than the NTEC and PMG so people prefer not to use them. -
FAR - Considered better than the NTEC by a number of players, but NTEC is still seen as a more viable option at times because more people have one. Overall I think FAR would win, at least until this patch. SNR - Yeah this was dumb Obir - Needed the bolt timer agree Manic - It's used by several, i had used it a bit while leveling pointman. It needed a jump shooting nerf and possibly an accuracy or something nerf (I guess they increased ttk) so i'm not necessarilly opposed to this. It's not very seen because it was part of a pack where it was considered the only decent gun in. Act 44 - Weird change im not in support of it. RSA - Yeah this was still a wierd thing, especially since they seem to have further increased its TTK via fire rate interval change - so it's still going to be like trash tier, but i hope im wrong. It's because the whiney crims and they didn't want to nerf perc stamina damage. They should increase the range to 15-20m and give it 2 shots with a 1.05tts now that they effectively gimped it by every standard.
