  1. A better tutorial that properly prepares new entrants for the gameplay yes. Half the newbies I see floundering around in bronze district are already half-confused about how things work in APB even before they get tossed into a mission and gunned down by some dude who they -think- is wallet-warring (when no such thing exists here) just because his scoreboard weapon icon is a special color. Matchmaking should still take threat level into account (and we need way more threat levels too IMO), but there's no reason to bar players from being in certain map instances because of it. Let the mission match-ups deal with that.
  2. Is there even any other game that prevents you joining certain lobbies based on your MMR anyway? Seems like the time for this has passed to me. How about option 5 - any threat can join any district, rework the tutorial so new players can actually understand the game mechanics, make all weapon icons the same color so newbies don't assume gold gun icon = special premium calibre gear.
  3. This community sure has a way of going around in circles. OP, here's some news for ya - Hoplon is gone and will stay gone. Get used to it.
  4. I'm willing to bet a good number of the 'dethreaters' are actually decent players running on low performance rigs and don't really know how much their machine performance is holding them back. I bounce around between low gold/high silver performance really often, sometimes even between matches in silver district; my avg fps is like 28-35. Solid potato. Compare that to the people getting 90fps in places like asylum/beacon, there's no way i can compete with that. I've gone to bronze sometimes and I know there are some playing with stuttery 40-60fps or possibly lower.
  5. Unless the persons themselves are also cheating, then no. Leave the bans for people who are actually cheating, not those who you think may be "aiding and abetting".
  6. Might be just me but I don't see many OBIRs in the districts these days, usually ObeyaCRs and Carbines with the odd OSCAR here and there.
  7. S1-TIC Rabid, an NTEC-like LMG with less accuracy but a larger magazine, and its the only LMG you can fire while leaning out a car window. Plus, its an AUG. what's not to love? S-247 Oblivion for its respectable (though not amazing) 4-shot kill accuracy even with CJ3. Also the looks. Anubis, it fails more often than it succeeds but it still lets me run faster than the DMR does so I have a soft spot for it (also its permanent so that's something I guess) The OBIR, its technically 7 STK but since its burst-fire it takes 3 mouse-clicks to kill a dude at optimal range and it sounds wicked Honorable mention to the AR-97 Misery for its first-shot accuracy, that crosshair is probably the tightest out of all the assault rifles I know of. Its horrible otherwise though.
  8. Please Mods, close this thread before this gets any more ridiculous...
  9. Older players only really have so much money due to spending real cash on weapons thus removing the need for the in-game rentals. Not all players are like that though...
  10. All the customization is compiled into one texture per character on the client, so even if we assume that whole textures are being sent back and forth between server and clients, the number of symbols in a piece of clothing won't change the bandwidth requirements anyway (since it doesn't change the final texture size either IIRC from my brief dip into character ripping).
  11. The community may have attached a stigma to the G1 name, but from what I see elsewhere most people who haven't played APB don't really know about the damage G1 did to it post-RTW, they only know of APB as "that failed MMO cops and robbers shooter that burned through $100M in funding way back when". Even the guy who wrote that crappy RPS article didn't seem to know much of anything about G1 until some players gave a rundown, and he's not the only such i've seen on the webz.
  12. Isn't that just shadows being generally busted on PS4/XBone? The PC asylum video test still had the baked shadows, as did the November 2015 screenshots...
  13. Unless that threshold was pretty high, I imagine there are some who would not be deterred by it. Just think, if you could, for the low low price of $200 in purchase value, use a loophole to torpedo the account of a guy you really really hated, who spent thousands on their own account? I wouldn't put it past some people. Good point about possible RMT though, never even considered that angle myself.
  14. I would assume, by using a smurf account to gift someone a purchase, and then making a chargeback on the purchase, you could probably setup a player for an account ban for fraudulent activity. Or at least, that was one theory I remember reading about a long time ago in a galaxy far far away on the old forums somewhere....
  15. Tiggs always did say how she was against ARMAS gifting, I'd wager her new 'advisory' position let her badmouth the system enough to prompt LO to remove it.
  16. Please no, this isn't like those themepark MMORPGs where there's plenty of things to do with your game time other than fiddle with cosmetics, cosmetics make up half of the game play in APB.......
  17. The Unreal 3.5 screenshots from the last few G1 blogs looked pretty stellar IMO, so long as the terribad shadow rendering of APB on consoles doesn't carry over to PC I'd be satisfied with it.
  18. Strife does 945 damage spread over 21 pellets, Fragile takes 140 hp off the standard 1k leaving you with 860. Strife vs. Fragile = RIP Fragile (if enough pellets hit)
  19. The biggest difference between the N-HVR and other multiplayer FPS games with one-shot/near-one-shot snipers is that in those other games the sniper rifle comes with a default scope that cuts off nearly all your peripheral vision with large black periphery borders. APB doesn't do this even with Hunting Sight 3, so the best players have enough vision to quickly switch into HVR (especially with 3PS) and still pan to a target that's not center of frame and land the killing shot (exacerbated by the damage being so high that nearly any other single shot + HVR is enough to empty a bar). A slight damage reduction (to maybe 770) and a mandatory sight mod that adds black borders to the field of view could bring it more in line with how other games handle heavy snipers (without radical alterations like headshot vs. bodyshot or something equivalent)
  20. Do people still have issue with Mobile Spawn Point even with its long as heck cooldown? Would you really rather go back to being at the complete mercy of the spawn system by having them remove it?
  21. Great explanation by Whiskey, and to add to it, from what I've seen I've come up with a brief (but not exhaustive) list of all the accessories that would take up extra texture tile space the Skateboard from the skateboad backpack Symmetrical leg accessories that require a tactical patch to be worn first (spray cans and gun holsters) The lower piece of some skirts (including the flounced skirt in OPs pic) The quiver from the quiver backpack (not confirmed) chest accessories from tactical packs, mostly any that require a vest to be worn first The easiest way to fix this would be to just have 2 material texture atlases, one for clothing that deforms the base mesh, another for any pieces that add polygons to the base mesh. Would also be nice to have the texture resolution increased, the current 1024x1024 atlas is just woefully tiny.
  22. Strife needs some love, its quirky as all hell but if you can use it as a finisher weapon well enough it can get some nice kills
  23. Are you sure about that? Cuz Nymphi's inital post in this thread quotes a section of the Q&A that has a whole paragraph almost certainly talking about the KTTC keys and the bans that resulted from those. That's what I replied to.
  24. I don't see how that relates to the mishandling of the KTTC pack debacle.
  25. I'm sure all it will take is for any given player to personally witness a blatant cheater vanish from the game mid-match and they'll start believing BattlEye is there and working. Which kind of makes me sad that future bans will no longer be broadcasted, I personally believe they went a good way towards getting people to believe the anti-cheat was actually doing its job (all those forum signatures of cheaters getting Fairfighted mid-chat for example).
