Like Cookie said the removal of muzzleflash is not possible through the advanced launcher as it is a particle removal edit and G1 blocked these from going under a certain threshold years ago when people first started using no particle configs. People instead opted into editing the .upk files responsible for those particles.

Considering that it'll be a public build that everyone can download, I'd say that everyone is free to make videos / stream the beta weekend. Obviously this is not an official stance but my gut feeling tells me that there are pretty much no reasons as to why it shouldn't be allowed.

Why does everything has to be so hidden and mysterious ?
Frosi replied to Ketog's topic in General Discussion Archive
This is heavily because of how the APB community acts as a whole, do you really want volunteers that have special powers to take actions against players that are misbehaving while also having their main Character name revealed? This would lead to a shit ton of harassment due to players that feel like they got punished unfairly or are generally toxic. The reason why the SPCT players were announced publicly is because it would be incredibly hard to hide them, especially due to the SPCT skins that we can use freely on our characters, we also do not have any sort of extra powers that normal players do not have in the LIVE game which means that we aren't susceptible to harassment in the ways GM's are and yet, we still do get shit from time to time which simply shows that anyone helping the game is susceptible to harassment regardless of their intentions. I have a relatively thick skin mainly due to the fact that the community has been so extremely toxic over the years so things like these don't bother me, but I am happy that GM's have their identities hidden as it will only cause a shit storm, especially because players will start looking for favouritism and start whining about how a player that did this and that became a part of a voluntary team. Not to mention what would happen when GM's started playing missions, they'd be griefed, teamkilled, flamed and probably also accused of abusing their powers to get an upper hand. I already have a few ideas for this, 2.1 needs to be properly tested which means that we as the SPCT and Community can come together and figure out what exactly is inconsistent to live or is flat out broken, this means that people in the SPCT that stream the game can use their streams to organize playtests together with the community. -
Why are the Apocalypse weapons all terrible?
Frosi replied to Eyepop's topic in General Discussion Archive
Honestly IMO the Misery is actually pretty good, it simply feels awful to play due to its ramp up recoil. It's a very unique gun that feels satisfying to get kills with but as a whole feels awful to play due to its ever increasing amount of recoil. Don't forget that the Oblivion has an insane amount of range and also has a ton of overhead damage as it does 325 Damage per shot. Imo this weapon is extremely underated as it has easily become better than the ISSR-B in a coordinated group. However, the ISSR-B is still better if you are soloing / playing in smaller group sizes due to its versatile nature and very high hard damage. -
I'm pretty sure this is exactly what the patch is aimed at. Matt mentioned an issue in the recent patch that caused more hitches / stuttering for some players and that it'll be fixed in the next patch.

Most streamers do so because it simply decreases the frequency of stutters and increases the avg fps by a bit which is very helpful when you are putting extra load on your CPU as streaming takes up a fair amount, especially if you are using x264 (CPU based encoding). In general the biggest increase in FPS in APB will be a CPU with strong single core performance and high speed RAM. I was actually blown away by how much FPS I got by enabling the XMP Profile that came with my RAM because RAM speed and timings were the last thing I expected to have a big impact on performance in APB.

Working From Home - Week #1 recap & thank you
Frosi replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Hopefully this will be the case. Matt only shared benchmarks of a lower end system on 2.1 once which was about 10~ FPS faster than the current Live version. However, many things play a factor when it comes to FPS so its hard to judge just how much better lower end systems perform up until public testing comes around. -
which sniper is best in current meta?
Frosi replied to quixxius's topic in General Discussion Archive
HVR 762, all other ones are useless in comparison. -
Feedback on these things is going to be hugely important when the Beta comes around so please share all of your feedback whenever possible.

Matt covered what happened in his weekly Engine Upgrade post that he just released.

I use Playclaw 5 and it works in fullscreen.

APB 2 graphic - please dont do this
Frosi replied to AxeTurboAgresor's topic in General Discussion Archive
Keep in mind that lighting is still a work in progress. If you want to see any changes then please make sure to say what you like and what you don't like about the current 3.5 shaders / lighting. You can do this with the screenshots provided in previous teases or once public testing rolls around, the latter obviously giving you a lot more options to customize the look of the game. -
Postponing maintenance to 1/24 1am PST
Frosi replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Threat returns once the next batch of EU servers is configured and handed over to Little Orbit who will then apply everything necessary to run APB's districts. So based off the info we have my guess would be that threat segregation returns early next week. -
What type out of out of memory message are you getting? One that just pops up with the game in the background or one that is part of the APBCatcher process that lets you submit a report for the crash? The pop up message without the Catcher is a specific Out of Memory issue related to the Nvidia GTX 1660 and 2000 series that is avoidable by running the game on minimal settings (or for some users even lower). If it is however the crash that comes with the inbuilt APB crash reporter then that might mean that something is wrong with your rig as this crash is often related to faulty RAM or not having enough RAM. Like I mentioned above the fix for this is lowering your graphics settings ingame to Minimal or possibly even a custom config that goes below Minimal graphics.

It has already been confirmed that 3.5 will have its font changed to the current live font. Some of this process was seen in screenshots posted by SPCT members.

why people get crazy over ntech ursus?
Frosi replied to foscor77's topic in General Discussion Archive
There are N-tec 5 changes on the current Prototype districts which means that players are likely looking for alternatives, therefore boosting the Ursus' value as it handles extremely similar to the N-tec 5 as it was likely ninja buffed when they first changed shotguns, allowing it to be tapfired like an N-tec 5 which to my knowledge wasn't possible before, especially not when using cooling jacket. -
The system would need new rewards along with a bit of an overhaul to reward both players rather than just the one referring but yea I totally agree that something along the lines of refer a friend should definitely return in the future.

Are explosive weapons ever going to hit Armas?
Frosi replied to illgot's topic in General Discussion Archive
Hopefully not, pretty sure the AAEPD should be a good enough example as to why. -
I've never had this happen to me unless I deliberately forced it to do so by switching characters over and over until the bug appeared, so maybe try to avoid switching characters and see if that fixes it for you.

Did the revert shotguns patch take place?
Frosi replied to Tigrix's topic in General Discussion Archive
The revert for all shotguns did not go onto the main districts yet, the latest patch however pushed fixes for the OCA-SD and OCA Whisper variants using the old pre-nerf OCA stats. -

It will make the full spray more inconsistent which means that it will require the user that commits to said spray to atleast hit the first 3 or so shots. It's going to require people to play well if they want to get away with it unlike the way it is right now on LIVE where you can miss the first few bullets and still get away with dealing atleast a decent amount of damage as the max bloom capped out after 3 shots and therefore was still extremely tight for fights within 10m~
