Its a bit tricky, its partially a bug fix, a nerf and a long overdue way to add feedback and counterplay the mod. Bug fix: Spotter duration change from 15 > 8 seconds. - This was long overdue and I dont think G1 ever mentioned or possibly intended for this change. Nerf: Modification cooldown: 45s -> 90s. - Making it less spamable and therefore focusing the gameplay less around a gimmick as it'll now have lower uptime. Counterplay / QoL change: Being able to see when you are spotted. - This is also just long overdue, there was no feedback to being spotted outside of the occassional, very rare guess based on someones movement / behavior. (Such as seeing him aim at you for a second when hes far outside of his effective range.) Knowing and reacting to being susceptible to being prenaded / pushed by multiple players adds a lot more creativity and thinking to both the player thats spotted and the player that spotted someone. At the end of the day Spotter was essentially free 3D wallhacks on every push if you had atleast two of them on your team and it was generally unhealthy for the game to have constant 3D wallhacks with no feedback on it whatsoever and while certain other orange mods aren't in an exactly great spot either I think that these Spotter changes will change the meta for the better while also not making the mod obsolete as it is still a free wallhack which will most certainly have its advantages despite these changes.

I think things like this could be pretty neat in the future, the entire UI while functional is pretty dated and im sure there is room for plenty of optimizations / improvements, however, seeing as they are still having UI performance issues on 2.1 I wouldn't expect something like this to happen until that was fixed or atleast not at the cost of performance.

Double check to see if Windows is allowed to disable / shut down any sort of Ethernet / WiFi driver on your PC. You can do this by going into your Device Manager, navigating to "Network Adapters" and expanding the list. Find whatever driver it might use (if you are unsure just turn it off for all of them) and right click it and select properties. Navigate to the section called "Power Management" and turn off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

The RTX Crashing has Begun!!! Help me Gamers! D:
Frosi replied to a Pair of Socks's topic in General Discussion Archive
Since the crashing is so inconsistent I'd advise to simply keep lowering the games graphics until the crashes stop happening. You can even try to mess with the advanced launcher options and see if theres a way to stop making the game crash without sacrificing quality of things you care about such as Characters, Cars etc. -
Because the key bind options werent touched in 10 years and only when they added new systems to the game. Gaming has come a long way, the more binds the better is a common thing in gaming nowadays and I'm sure it is one of the things that LO knows they have to do to modernize the game, including highly requested things such as hold crouch and toggle sprint.

Its 9 AM in the morning in California, website changes usually happen a few hours after the patch went live.
-
Hah, it was actually Shini who made me aware of this not all too long ago and I thought its too nifty not to share.
-
If it works such as commands like /abandonmission you should be able to bind it by editing the APBInput.ini file. For example, I bound my /abandonmission to F1 by changing: Bindings=(Name="F1",Command="OpenAPBSupportPage invalidURL",Group="UI",bAllowInScaleformUI=True) to this here: Bindings=(Name="F1",Command="abandonmission") Maybe an edit like this is worth a shot.

LO has come a long way with the Engine, I'm glad that its finally able to be tested by everyone. Please keep in mind that your feedback matters more than ever now, So PLEASE give your feedback on anything you like, dislike or anything that doesn't match the behavior on live. Excited to see you all on the Beta

Make Oblivion a 3stk gun - Oblivion is already one of the strongest Snipers in the game, its a Dog-ear but with a lot more range and far more overkill damage which means it works better in an organized Team. It doesn't need buffs its in a perfect state but simply overshadowed by the HVR. Make M 1922 a 8stk gun - The gun already has a crazy fast TTK of 0.675 the gun is simply awful to play due to its ramp up recoil and lacks the accuracy to compete. Make HB3 having no damage effect at all - That would turn most AR's into complete laserbeams much like the old HB2 N-tec so no thanks. Make EOL launchers without delay so it wouldn't be so shitty ffs - I'd rather not die to a 1 shot grenade launcher that explodes far sooner than the OPGL does (Conc variant). What you are suggesting would make it near impossible to push any of the EOL's unless you somehow catch them while they are reloading. More explosives / grease / things in the game that require little to no skill is not something they should even consider at this point.
-
Two simple changes that could pretty much make the gun viable, possibly even too strong funnily enough. Accuracy Radius at 10m: 34 > 26 Shots to Kill: 11 > 10.

Its still there I believe but its just so quiet that its impossible for it to sound satisfying Also here's an old vid I loved back when I started playing.

I think he means the "usable in x" issue thats been happening when you lease guns from contacts, this is especially bad on Jericho for some reason as I've seen wait times to use a newly leased guns for up to 5 minutes as opposed to Citadel where its mostly under a minute.

Absolutely not, good players already have a hard enough time getting opposition, giving the people that hackusate everyone better than them a surrender option is just going to ruin more and more missions and make the game even less playable for 4 player groups. In an ideal world there wouldn't be a need for a surrender option because the matchmaking (post 2.1) is good enough to match players of equal skill. A surrender option would be a "bandaid" until District Phasing / Matchmaking improvements that could be exploited and make the game even less enjoyable.

The remember button is currently bugged but this issue can be fixed by navigating to your account settings on the Gamersfirst website and disabling and then reenabling "Tokenize" Once you've done that checking the "Remember me button" will work again.

Engine Upgrade - Beta Stream Announcement
Frosi replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Summit is playing nothing but Valorant right now and his stream is currently at its peak in terms of viewer and subcount, it would be great for him to show off 2.1 and he has shown interest for the game after 2.1 releases however Summit will pursue his new main game which is Valorant for now which only makes sense considering his immense growth in the recent week. -
Absolutely no one is saying "give me this for free" I've got a shit ton of premium left myself but I simply realize the fact that the current end game progression is absolutely overtuned for players without premium and that its unhealthy for a free to play game to ask players to invest 500+ hours into maxing a character if they refuse to pay for premium.
-
Honestly, I think the standing bonus from Premium should become available to all players and instead of extra standing Premium players get the minimum threshhold from Jokertickets upped from something like 3 to 6. I don't think the progression of APB is in a healthy state for players that don't want to spend 10$ a month just so they can progress their character at a reasonable speed. It took me 300~ hours of playing missions to max a character and that is with premium while also winning the vast majority of my missions.
-
The exception is that you pretty much exclusively play fightclub and the players that do that are far fewer than the ones that primarily play missions or do a mix of both. Why should completionists be forced into playing Fightclub or Asylum in particular all day long if they want to max weapon roles? Not to mention how account wide roles would help new players especially as they won't be locked into one character unless they spend money on armas because all of their slotted weapons are now unlocked across their account. Also you say you would want a bigger reward for "shitting out your nerves", then why wouldn't you want it to be account wide so you can use all the skins across your account?
-
The main weapon roles require 20.000 kills to complete which takes even some of the best players in the game ages to complete if they do not play fightclub. I've been playing my main character for 8 years now and are at around 104.000 kills which would mean that in theory I could be close to having all of the main roles maxed (after subtracting nade, pistol, vehicle and explosion kills). I don't know about you but something about 8 years and maxing 5 roles without playing fightclub doesn't sound right to me
-
Role progress should be account wide, meaning that players can work towards unlocking slotted weapons / mods / Chrome skins for all of their characters rather than just the one they are playing on.

Try changing "LevelParticles=False" to "LevelParticles=True" in the APBCompat.ini. If your config is applied via changing the ingame setting to "Minimal" then said setting is located under the "[AppCompatBucket1]" section. This should (for all I know) re enable the objective circles. Quite literally, yes.
-
Like Cookie said the removal of muzzleflash is not possible through the advanced launcher as it is a particle removal edit and G1 blocked these from going under a certain threshold years ago when people first started using no particle configs. People instead opted into editing the .upk files responsible for those particles.
-
Considering that it'll be a public build that everyone can download, I'd say that everyone is free to make videos / stream the beta weekend. Obviously this is not an official stance but my gut feeling tells me that there are pretty much no reasons as to why it shouldn't be allowed.

Why does everything has to be so hidden and mysterious ?
Frosi replied to Ketog's topic in General Discussion Archive
This is heavily because of how the APB community acts as a whole, do you really want volunteers that have special powers to take actions against players that are misbehaving while also having their main Character name revealed? This would lead to a shit ton of harassment due to players that feel like they got punished unfairly or are generally toxic. The reason why the SPCT players were announced publicly is because it would be incredibly hard to hide them, especially due to the SPCT skins that we can use freely on our characters, we also do not have any sort of extra powers that normal players do not have in the LIVE game which means that we aren't susceptible to harassment in the ways GM's are and yet, we still do get shit from time to time which simply shows that anyone helping the game is susceptible to harassment regardless of their intentions. I have a relatively thick skin mainly due to the fact that the community has been so extremely toxic over the years so things like these don't bother me, but I am happy that GM's have their identities hidden as it will only cause a shit storm, especially because players will start looking for favouritism and start whining about how a player that did this and that became a part of a voluntary team. Not to mention what would happen when GM's started playing missions, they'd be griefed, teamkilled, flamed and probably also accused of abusing their powers to get an upper hand. I already have a few ideas for this, 2.1 needs to be properly tested which means that we as the SPCT and Community can come together and figure out what exactly is inconsistent to live or is flat out broken, this means that people in the SPCT that stream the game can use their streams to organize playtests together with the community.
