  1. 1 and 3 aren't contradictory, a new player is going to be just as bad at customization as they are at shooting enemies ramraiding and mugging are not only skewed almost entirely in favor of criminals but are also not engaging at all for most people, funneling new players into these activities so they can continue playing missions leads to a poor game experience imo there are some smaller issues as well like new players starting with no money, or new players being much more likely to waste ammo in and out of missions players do not always profit from missions, sometimes even when their team wins you've only given the ammo costs for 2 ammo types, so its impossible to determine that they would be the cheapest the starter weapons and vehicle being the easiest to maintain encourages or forces, depending on how able a new player is to keep up with costs, new players to continue using them, again widening the gap between new players and veterans i suppose it does come down to perspective, you see increased cost as a reason to use cheaper items where i see increased cost as a reason to only use the most effective items in order to maximize gains - i think a large portion of the community would also share my perspective, and so many people using strictly meta loadouts will naturally push their opponents to do the same im also unclear on how this would actually affect weapon use, an ntec and a misery both use the same ammo type, so how does cost enter in to the decision to use one or the other?
  2. wouldn't work imo punishes new and low skilled players encourages a narrow meta too easy to make money out of mission
  3. aside from this suggestion punishing new players, it also really only works in a closed system like csgo where money is only gained/lost within the match - no need to worry over shooting money when i can infinitely duplicate a half-assed anime symbol to sell on the marketplace
  4. technically any 3rd party program that messes with the game files is bannable but pretty sure battleye just kicks you back to lobby when it detects ninjaripper, not 100% tho
  5. https://apb.com/products.html as shoddy as the site is its been around since 2019, i doubt orbit would allow unit games to claim ownership of apb reloaded if they didn't actually own it
  6. little orbit sold the apb ip (which means everything) to unit game and are licensed to continue developing apb:reloaded its likely that the licensing is indefinite and probably also free as part of the sale contract, but they no longer own apb
  7. just as many golds were against desegregation as for it forum mods are not game mods afaik
  8. essentially it doesn't really matter if its cheaters or veterans rolling everyone, the effect is nearly the same on the population i prefer steamcharts myself, and while the exact numbers are a bit different for whatever reason the population is back to the worst point its been in the past year - there was a small bump back in august when we had some significant negative balance changes reversed, then another for the halloween event, and there'll likely be another for the xmas event my expectation is that after the xmas event is over we'll return to the slow and steady decline we had earlier this year

yikes, complaining about toxicity in the same post you're hella toxic in you put joke answers in a poll and then when people (not me btw) pick the joke answers you get all whiny about your poll not being taken serious, like its not entirely your fault lmao

the game isnt dying because 4 guns that 95% of the population doesn't even know exist arent available in the joker store, what a bizarre take
  11. vsb

the fbw 'kitteh' was a unique contest reward, its probably not going to be released in the joker store

  13. matt might listen to the people he's hired that he believes know better, but at the end of the day as the ceo im pretty sure he's got the final say on just about anything related to apb
  14. then why make a forum poll? honestly, you keep saying its not the case but this whole thread gives rage-post vibes
  15. you're right, descent is no longer listed on the little orbit website - so they actually have less games in development now than when they purchased apb
  16. im pretty sure its $100 dollars, since its 20 rentals for the guaranteed legendary - might actually be $105 because i think its the 21st rental that becomes permanent the new system is better than joker boxes, but its still a bit ridiculous
  17. if only there was some way to decrease the odds of getting matched against these top tier players, some way to ensure that 15-20 players didnt account for up to half the available matchmaking opportunities oh wait, expanding the matchmaking pool would do it poor matchmaking contributes to players leaving which contributes to poor matchmaking which contributes to players leaving - as youve posted above, players dont enjoy getting stomped by the same people for an entire play session sure, a larger potential pool may not help much now when the pop is so small, but how do you expect the pop to grow without fixing these issues? more content is definitely required for pop growth new players are more likely to be hooked by something if theres a wider or deeper variety being offered, often just the sheer amount of content can convince someone to try a game once new players are hooked they need content to remain engaged after theyre no longer new players new content is needed for all the players who have played apb and quit, because who is convinced to try a game again thats exactly the same as when they left? new content stops veterans from leaving or keeps them returning on a regular cycle depending on the content, it can even help players escape the dreaded top tier stomping without outright quitting - getting dunked on in missions? maybe if there was 1 or 2 other game modes to jump between for a cool off period, it wouldnt be so bad the engine upgrade on its own will absolutely not solve the pop issue, but it will cause a surge of players to return for at least a little while - its up to orbit if they can capitalize on that surge to jumpstart population growth again
  18. better matchmaking requires a larger player pool to draw from, and performance has been steadily decreasing with every new bit of content added since the 2012 valentine's event do you have suggestions on how to increase district pop beyond 80 without the accompanying negative effects or how to increase the game's memory limit without an engine upgrade? turns out im totally happy shoveling slop if its actual factual truth
