A new Threat needs to be added to solve dethreating.
TheJellyGoo replied to blockblack's topic in General Discussion Archive
Ah very nice maybe you can finally answer this. Sadly the person in the other thread where I posted this prior never replied back. quote/ I really wonder where this comes from. Loved that time and somehow it ended up as a collective dark time of APB? Tried to do some digging but sadly old blog and patchnotes seem to have been lost due to takeover and stuff. On reddit I found two possible time stamps about introduction of threat segregation: Source As for the end it's luckily one of the first available patch notes Source Let's ignore the usual seasonal swings and that the gold rush event pushed it's peak in August 2013 I still fail to see the genocide of the playerbase. In fact it looks like it started to go downhill from threat segregation removal? Am I missing sth. what am I missing? /quote -
I want you all to think about this!

Doesn't January come like way before September/November in the calendar or am I missing sth.? Guess I'm not thinking deep enough... -
If curious about what was changed in the Forum Rules-

Only thing left now is how to define non-contributory! -
I like it. Balanced teams and it's an actual battle to win while having enough time for back and forths. If it's onsided it's over quick just like most other missions by default.

Removing posts because a single word.

It's not wrong, but it's also not completely right. Learning is a (small) step by step process. If the gap is to large and you get outright stomped... you will very likely learn almost nothing if at all. Opponents need to be able to punish your mistakes but you need to be close enough to be able to identify those (specifics). If a bronze gets blown out of the district by a gold he will simply be overwhelmed without much of a chance to assess his shortcomings (except for everything).

Okay, I see where you're coming from. I can understand it but still have to disagree. It's two very different things to talk about the absolute endgame money sink for the top% and then one that is the very first hurdle of new players (which we hope to attract in the future). As the very first reply in this thread said. I think you underestimate the value of APB$ when starting out. Yes, there needs to be some incentive to make Premium/Armas lucrative but it needs to be healthy. However there could still be ways to balance the Joker Store more towards your means with the future expansions/changes on JTs that have been planned. I could see that as a more approachable way without putting to much stress on the economy (of new players).
-
You realize those players also have pretty much every weapon permanent account bound? You need to decide what you're trying to get to. What is your point? All you bring to the table is true but it doesn't change the impact of your suggested money sink in a good way. It just punishes the casual/new players that aren't filthy rich.
-
Taxes do... and the point I tried to make was that for any non JMB buying player money inflation isn't actually a thing because they have plenty of things to buy. So there is no need for additional money sinks just because some people "cheated" the market by buying everything for $$$.
-
technically it would be open beta, just saying
-
Legendaries, high-tiered vehicles and even modifications/leased weapons are plenty good money sinks. Just because a few dozen spent thousands on JMBs and have millions to spare doesn't mean that your average Joe needs to pay for that (or could).
-
Yeah, no. This is not a visual representation... like that's some totally useless player made up perfect world imaginary. Almost feeling insulted to be put off with that thing. Also what needs to be discussed is the active part of the registered accounts where it is more than likely that the gold division is ever growing.
-
Got a source on that? Not saying it's wrong it's probably right but I'm interested in the actual numbers. Its an ever inflating system and wouldn't be to surprised if gold is taking over (and no it's not a static percentage).

Best secondary weapon?

Maybe it's time to remove red crosshair

Terrible idea as @AxeTurboAgresor has elaborated It's an essential part of APB's gameplay and balance. Dunno how anyone can even argue about it. Also it won't remove triggerbots per se. -

You need to stop creating threads! -
I liked most of what I read, especially the Radar-Jammer ideas. My only concern is EMP-grenades being that high up in the unlock-tree. It would take new players a lot of time to get there. Just like it has been come up times and times again to make current endgame mods more accessible to even out the playing field sooner.
-
Just for clarification, a week ago you wrote this in a post Did you only use the terms golds/bronzes for visualization here because I understood it as no visible threat for districts but still a visible indicator for each player. Are you really planning to remove every indicator of elo from this pvp game?
-
You just keep doing it... I said: There is no hidden meaning. The words are there for their literal meaning. It is just a sentence from the first time I quoted you (replied to you) that fits into my last post as closure. Why do you have to continue to go out of your way to make it out as me trying to undermine whatever you think you're trying to point out here. Heavily imply? HEAVILY IMPLY? It's literally what I've been telling you all this time. You finally got it! And no, I haven't come closer to agreeing on the numbers you're arguing. What makes you think that? Where have I ever voiced my change of view. I've been saying the same thing all this time. You just keep on going and going and twist and interpret something into my words that is not there. But fine, let me end with that instead. I disagree with your estimate because the numbers are exaggerated. Believing you're correct makes me think you're delusional about it.
-
How? There won't be any more dethreating to silver threat to join bronze district then play the day as a gold in bronze since you will be phased right back towards your proper opposition?
-
What in the world are you talking about? You have to stop interpreting bullshoot into my words when I very clearly say what I mean. Accusations don't affect me in any way. It's about your statement of being qualified to make the distinction between veterans and cheaters when you clearly don't (my accusation as an example and proof). That's all there is... that has been my only point since the very first post before you added all the other useless stuff around it. Just because I didn't break it down, when it didn't matter at that point, doesn't mean I didn't notice it. Why would I need to explain a number that the source that you posted explains? Yes, literally I quoted you but for the 40% part I "quoted" Kitty. Since you both share the same view I wrote "you (KittyYekaterina)". Admittedly slightly confusing like that. Of course they do, but they generally don't have the skills (individually and teamwork wise) to properly utilize all these tools which is where these veterans gain their advantage. I'm just stating what is possible in the limitations of the game. Can't do anything about it when that comes across as elitist. Never said everyone was supposed to be able to do that. That's like another pointless addition that is of no relevance to my initial point. One of my very first sentences as a reply towards you was: "I'm aware of a cheater subculture but how significant? My only estimate to that is less than all those threads make out to be." The topics itself aren't the issue. It has always been how the creators justified their opinions. I cut it short to bring it to a close.

Please, delay is not a solution (especially not in APB). Sure looks fun for a few minutes... not if you want to play missions. Like I said... I like the charm and flair that comes with APB. I just think if possible one should at least think about a solution. Maybe not a global change but just something like a streamer program to apply for special privileges if necessary (own instance, phased, ...) whatever the system allows and is viable.

If nothing will be done then even if he should decide to check it out it will not turn out any different. Mark my words.

Yes, because all 160 active golds play all the time without ever logging off. There is no flow (joining/leaving) of players (I have mentioned this "very advanced" concept already twice). But sure, keep seeing it as arrogant when I'm done with explaining the basics for the third time. Keep going in circles while ignoring any valid logic that disprove your facts time and time again. Sources are pointless if you misinterpret the numbers. If you use your sources to back up your argumentation and I show you that you read those numbers wrong exaggerating their whole meaning with that then that is my proof.
