How many times do we have to tell people that macros don't improve accuracy? If anything, your accuracy will be ruined if you make it so the macro maxes out the firerate. Now, if you're talking about no recoil macros, those are a problem. Also, people who macro usually suck at the game so it usually isn't a problem anyway.

Weapon Prototype Districts 1.20.0 (1158)
swft replied to Lixil's topic in General Discussion Archive
The real problem was never the TTK of the RFP, it was just its range. Whatever guys, just keep making changes without community input and see how well it fares, AGAIN.- 195 replies

We warned LO... All that effort to bring RIOT in was absolutely pointless, mission and weapon balance not being touched for a year was also incredibly dumb and is still killing the game.

When I was at the SPCT in ~2014, this person would use a voice changer whenever they joined a playtest and pretend to be a girl.

June 2019 - Engine Upgrade progress (screenshots & video)
swft replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Anti-aliasing not working yet? Anyways, thanks for finally giving us an update. -
You do realize they had months to fix these issues but rather preferred to work on RIOT which will not be a long term gamemode as we both already know.
-
While you're right that there should be different queue modes for RIOT (solo, duo, 4-man group), the amount of population doesn't allow for that to happen. Also even if people aren't grouped they will still trade wins and team up. We all know what the solution for all this is: making RIOT a seasonal event. Once APB has sufficient population, maybe then, enable RIOT permanently.
-
Why is this a topic? You can't take people typing non-sense to you? It's not that hard to ignore chat, it's not like you're forced to read it and, you know, care about it.
-
Expected. All we want is the engine upgrade so you guys can actually start creating content that belongs in APB and improving the game's looks and performance.

Removing weapon drops from opposed missions
swft replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
I like polls, LO should've done one for RIOT too. Back on topic: No, dropping weapons should just be on modes that actually depend on this mechanic. Fight Club doesn't need this, unless you're planning to make it a practice mode for people to test out other guns that they don't have. Either way, that should be a separate mode from FC imo. -
Actually thought it would be worse when I tried OTW. The mode isn't that bad on live, but I still think it should be a seasonal thing like the halloween districts and such. The spawn system is awful and the fact that matches don't show the actual timer and end abruptly, sometimes not even spawning the bribe van, kills it for me. I get that it's a BETA but they had so much time to prepare it and the mode still doesn't even work half the times. LO, it's time to call it quits on RIOT and focus on what actually matters: engine upgrade, matchmaking and progression.

The engine upgrade isn't gonna change a thing when it comes, so no. Unless there's a change to graphics and/or core gameplay, I don't think they should change the name just for the sake of deceiving players.

Delaying the RIOT launch till next week
swft replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
It's supposed to be a dev oriented update, pretty sure most people know this by now, that's why they wanted RIOT out the door asap before the engine upgrade. Now that everyone has seen RIOT and knows it's complete trash and doesn't fit the game at all (maybe due to how they and G1 thought of the mode, not entirely because it is BR), how can they hype anything at all when they decide to finally launch the engine upgrade? Not to mention the crappy performance I bet it will have, it's either going to be worse than current state or the same, and that isn't an accomplishment at all. The engine upgrade was supposed to fix performance issues and give the devs a better workflow and tools to develop the game, if one of these 2 is a failure, LO might as well not even release it and just hold on until they fix both. ----> This is exactly what is happening and why we don't get 1 single piece of news about it not even the so promised screenshots from 2 months ago. To conclude: enjoy the game while you can bros, 2019 is make it or break it for LO, and to me, I'm pretty sure of what the outcome of all of this will be with either 3.5 or without. -
It's been 2 months, don't play with us bro.

How many more mondays will it take for new engine pictures?

Delaying the RIOT launch till next week
swft replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
It's always the same thing, I knew exactly LO was going to fuck up this patch and reroll it. Even worse happened, this time, y'all didn't even patch the game. How do you think we feel when we see this happen constantly? Do you really think we believe the engine upgrade is going to be ready this year? LOL. -
Do you happen to have installed the new Windows 10 Spring Update (build 1903)?
-
They are yet to balance the Showstopper and are already releasing a new JMB gun...

May Blog is up including RIOT launch date & EAC
swft replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
It's either incredibly OP or straight trash just like most new guns. Also hate the idea of a hybrid SMG/AR in APB. -
Until we're on UE4 and have full support for a third party anti-cheat none of them will help sadly.

No, this ain't the way to do it. I do think that progression needs a rework but shared unlocks doesn't look like the way to handle this and I have a feeling it wouldn't be clearly presented to the players, specially with the current UI. I don't think LO should reinvent the wheel with progression, they should just follow what other small free 2 play games do: reward players for playing, even for their very small time investments, not make players play to finally reach an "even" playing field like it currently is. A good example of this is Black Squad, where you really don't have to progress much to unlock the guns and be able to play at an "even" playing field against everyone else. I do think they did exaggerated a bit by allowing players to buy weapon skins for a couple cents on the steam market which also unlock the actual gun permanently, but other than that the progression is fine for the type of game it is, and if you're wondering, it's a CS type clone. So, my actual opinion is: modifications shouldn't be locked to a certain rating at all, nor should weapons (but maybe their slots). I think the grind needs to be somewhere else, maybe cosmetics (such as weapon skins and other things LO could think of) and just plain skill itself. APB needs to be easier to get into, but not easier to be good at. EDIT: Oh, I forgot to comment about blacklisting, yeah, that would be frustrating if you wanted to fuck around for a couple missions since most annoying things would be blacklisted in every mission. Knowing LO they probably wouldn't even look at the blacklisting percentage per item and balance them accordingly, but that would be a cool feature in a ranked environment though.
-
Can't argue with this infallible logic, can I? Clearly the progression isn't an issue since new players would get bored in days if they got their hands onto the meta stuff that allows them to fight in a somewhat even field. I keep forgetting how fun it is to play unslotted guns and use shitty cars like the starter one or other unslotted cars, not having Spotter to have a legal wallhack on people for 8s with a 45s cooldown while playing against groups of people who have everything the meta has to offer. Hmu for that apb sesh dude, would love to be educated on how APB actually works according to The SillyBear.
-
You're talking like you know what you're talking about, but you simply don't. It seems like you haven't played the game in years, there's no way you still believe that this game can afford having such a steep progression curve when it's barely populated. While it's true that there was nothing wrong with this progression style when the game was doing well, 9 years and a bunch of failures later, ain't nobody got time to invest into progressing in a dying game. Didn't it cross your mind that, maybe, APB can't retain new players because veterans are the biggest piece of the player base and just completely destroy them in any way possible? Or that, maybe, just maybe, we could shorten the amount of time it takes to get meta gear without compromising the grind for other things? Oh, then you're more than welcomed to play vs me and teach me.
-
Imagine not reading what I wrote. I clearly stated we needed another style of progression, I didn't say remove it completely. Obviously, you need some sort of a grind for something other than just for the sake of becoming a better player skill wise, otherwise the game would be dull for most people.
