  1. Can stomp you and anyone in this thread saying that Bounty was fine while soloing. Not a flex, just a statement. Any higher tier player will back me up in saying that the Bounty system is better now than it ever was.

  3. This, the game is filled with gimmicks for casual players, it actually hurts the game because they really mess up with the core balance. Oh, and it also drives new players away.
  4. Your short, not thought out answer, actually answered that question by itself. But, just in case it didn't, NO, it didn't make the game unplayable, it made it frustrating when getting P5/N5, so much that most people would just try to kill a member of the same faction from another nearby mission to get rid of it - this is great game design, isn't it? Now, I know what you're gonna say, "but, but LO should've just made it so teamkilling would be impossible or very punishable", and to that I say: No, that's not even a band-aid to the actual problem, what they actually did is a band-aid, and one that's going to work just fine until they get rid of the Bounty system for good.
  5. Just because you say it doesn't mean it's true. Also, I can't help but notice that you're out of touch with the game, at least, regarding the way it's played when you actually care to win. Now, we can go back to your argument that the game isn't competitive, which is true, I'll give you that - but what if it could be? I can see APB getting a lot more patches that favor the game's health from a competitive side, even if it doesn't mean eSports tournaments, the game experience is going to be better for those who actually like playing to win and not just troll around aimlessly. LO is doing a great job as of late by listening to feedback from few of the SPCTs that are voicing their opinions from a game balance perspective, so hopefully LO doesn't get distracted in comments such as the ones made by some of the people on this thread who completely disregard game healthiness in favor of gimmicks that don't belong in PvP shooters.
  6. AFAIK, advanced launcher touches APBCompat.ini and APBMachineOptions.ini, don't think it touches other files. And make most people leave? Have you realized how many people play with config files and other edits? I refuse to play the game vanilla, it looks bad and performs bad. Also really like the localization edits because the default mission description is not informative at all and mixes lore with actual mission information. Hopefully LO does something about it someday too.
  7. LO intentionally disabled file-checking with EAC to allow configs.
  8. You don't need to bypass the launcher's file-checking to get a crosshair. Also, the game isn't dying because configs are allowed, the game is dying because we haven't had the engine upgrade yet (it's been 6 years) and proper content added to the game following it.
  9. Until they fix unbalanced missions and matchmaking this shouldn't be removed imo.
  10. Nice to see a document with actual values instead of just words, I agree with most of it even though there's a few more guns that need to be adjusted too, like the Obir.
  11. LO is not going to discard the threat system, all that phasing will do is allow you to face someone from another instance. Example: you ready up for a mission in Financial-EN-1 and face a player from Financial-EN-2. I'm not sure how it's going to work out exactly, but the main point is the same, you'll be able to face people that are not in the same instance as you and matchmaking would still work as it does now, it's just gonna have a bigger pool of players to choose from instead of just 40.

If weapons become balanced without modifications then you will need to re-balance every single modification and they'll need to give different advantages and disadvantages for every gun type there is. This didn't work well last time LO tried balancing Improved Rifling so I doubt this is the way. Instead, things need to be adjusted around the current meta and then they just have to shave power off of things that are just too good like any other game. Obviously this requires a lot of community input which also needs to be filtered because, as you've probably seen around the forums, even veterans have completely wrong opinions about the game from a game health perspective. All in all, I think LO is starting to understand this and listening to some of the right people.
  13. Instead of generalizing game balancing with these 2 options you provided, why not mention the actual things that need to be balanced? For me, it's all about the specifics, if you only mention "Buff the sub-meta to be comparable and competitive with the current meta", that's just way too broad for me to agree with. There are guns, vehicles and modifications that aren't meta that should be adjusted, but not everything should be buffed just because it isn't used as much. So, clearly, the best option is to adjust things that actually need to be adjusted. There are lots of gimmicky things in the game that I'd like to see gone because they are not healthy for the game (as in, they introduce player frustration: simple case of gear > skill), but there's a lot of people that rely on them even though they are "sub-meta" and for that, your proposal isn't looking towards this aspect.

  15. Nope. You can't balance around progression, even if the matchmaking system took into account the ratings of all your characters combined. Progression doesn't mean anything in APB, you can have 800 hours and still be bad at the game. It's all down to win rate which is be used to figure out your MMR. The reason I didn't mention "skill" is because you can, obviously, inflate your win rate due to having a good team and being carried, which is pretty easy in APB since the winning team automatically gets more score just for winning the mission. The same can be said for dethreating which is losing on purpose to lower your win rate. Now, the best way to fix the matchmaking is to do what LO said they were working on - I'm talking about phasing, which means you can face anyone from any instance instead of being locked to other 40 possible opponents in the instance you're in. This would increase the opposition pool and, by itself, improve matchmaking. Couple that with an increase of the player base due to the engine upgrade and it gets even better.

  17. Realistically, no one plays on prototype districts. I propose you shut off regular financial instances to make people join the prototype district at specific timeframes.
  18. AFAIK they changed the font for localization support on console, don't know why the current font wouldn't work in the first place but whatever.
  19. Ursus somehow became busted so I wouldn't be surprised if the price went up when people realized how good it is now.

  22. The engine upgrade won't fix what needs fixing for the game to be successful and by that I mean the gameplay. So we'll increase the numbers temporarily until everyone leaves again since the game is the same, just with engine work done for better performance and better dev workflow, which means, if the game survives long enough we can actually see changes.
  23. They still explode faster and travel further. It's just a different style of grenade, nothing wrong with it.
  24. Still think you should only be able to carry 2 low yields.
