  1. Well...that is kind of how creating a top of the line DDoS solution works, solutions are costly, the more money a company has to throw at a solution and infrastructure, the less impactful attacks are, for example, you have companies like OVH (who in NA is known for having routing issues) and then you have Level 3 (formerly Black Lotus) who were known for their ability to just absorb DDoS attacks. The more powerful your line is, the easier it is to just eat direct attacks. Black Lotus was known for having incredibly strong lines that were able to just absorb UDP packets to the face without the line getting flooded, but the servers were, as expected, very costly as a result. OVH is quite the same, having the largest infrastructure to handle attacks like this one, but getting proper protection from them is quite expensive, so yeah, throwing money at the problem when it is comes to a top of the line DDoS solution IS the solution, the more money you have to throw at a strong infrastructure made to handle this stuff, the better you handle it.
  2. How could you forget the good old "server lagged so I ghost fired a whole mag and then when I teleported back my bloom was maxed out"? That's my favorite one!
  3. Seen this happening a lot with N-TEC, makes tap firing feel very...unusual to say the least.
  4. Nobody mugs unless you're trying to hit P5 for an event, if you're making money you're ram-raiding. The world is not "alive" at all, the AI doesn't even do anything besides walk from node to node and occasionally scream for no reason, they simulate nothing like an "alive" anything, basic animals like ants are more interesting. The only thing the civs add to the game is getting stuck on them during simulation time and as a result causing prediction errors. I'd take better server performance than this "AI" that only reacts to static variables any day.
  5. To be fair, 400 AI is not unreasonable at all given the cars and NPCs which move along set paths, and with 80 player servers, 5 NPCs being near someone isn't unlikely, but it shouldn't be taking up a substantial amount of frame time because they're not doing any "advanced" thinking, all they're doing is moving from node to node which shouldn't be very expensive at all, but you do have to take into account whether or not there's multi-threading being utilized and specifically what threads are handling things (for example, physics and AI running in the same thread would be a lot less CPU intensive than rendering and AI running in the same thread), I'd be fine with them removing civilians completely and just having the car driving NPCs if it means we don't get server hiccups as often. Also /fpsdetail returning when? I want to see the servers framerate in real time again, rather than "Server: 33ms" like that's tricking anyone.
  6. Yeah Little Orbit, why are you making the game unplayable? Why can't you guys just decide when to start and stop the DDoS attacks? Like the year is 2018, come on science. I'm being sarcastic. Little Orbit has no control over whether or not their servers are getting DDoSed, it's not like they just go "Guys flip the DDoS switch and make the players mad haha lol. Let's make the game unplayable for them", like what? They are not the ones making the game unplayable.
  7. dw dude engine upgrade coming Q1 2014 will fix it.
  8. You're right, I forgot the poll that is just about as useless as the majority of your posts. I should fix that.
  9. Outbreak Gaming is blocked by MBAM just so you know, might want to take that up with them and ask why. I've been through it before with my file host got the same and it didn't take too long to resolve. Good luck with recruitment btw.
  10. sure am excited about this engine upgrade coming Q1 2014 wbu guys
  11. Limited moderation is fine, borderline harassment is not, treating certain users like adults is completely fine and dandy, others simply cannot control themselves and are literal manchildren who scream and cry every time they get owned by a weapon/person. "X weapon is OP and Y is a cheater!" type content is both not constructive in any way, and tends to be quite literally, just shit-flinging. And yes, I mean literally shit-flinging, not figuratively.
  12. Alternatively, mods can do their job and stop idiots from being idiots, calling someone a dethreater/cheater w/o any proof and continuing to try to ruin their rep because you're buttmad that you got dunked in an online game might as well be harassment on these forums.
  13. You're either incredibly delusional, a troll, or both. Most likely the third though. Anyway, if it's true that you're just OPGL/OSMAW/Volcano/PMG/car det/perc spammer and you're not a troll and actually are this delusional, join the pile with every other clone like you, all of you are thinking everyone is cheating when your cheap tactics fail, here's a trick, if you actually buy a decent mouse, monitor, use a mouse pad, and actually practice your aim and tracking ability, you might actually get good someday, or you can just live in your delusions and believe everyone better than you is cheating. Dunning-Krueger effect, look it up and learn about yourself.
  14. for (int i = 0; i < 64; i++) { if(i == 0) continue; else DoSomething(); } That's like saying doing the above means the for loop doesn't start at 0, it still starts at 0, it just skips over 0 when it hits it, even if you were to do for(int i = 1; i < 64; i++) The array still starts at 0, you're just setting i (a randomly named variable that holds an int in this case) to 1 and checking if 1 is less than the specified integer and then incrementing i, this just avoids ever looping over the start of the array because you're starting at the second member in the loop, the first member is still going to be filled with whatever data, and even if it's not filled, it's still going to exist as the first member in any array. std::vector, std::map, and std::array will always start at 0 because of how memory works, whether or not you fill the first member in the vector/map/array is up to you, but that doesn't change the fact that the array is still going to have the first member be at the 0th index.
  15. I don't think your opinion of who is and is not cheating is a very reliable one, you called me a hacker on my alt in asylum when I was using a PMG, barely going positive. 'Nuff said.
  16. CJ2 still ghosts, just tap fire and listen. Anyway, yes, the answer is yes.
  17. Dog Ear stack Conc gamers Have one guy trail (that way you can't just spin around and drive away without being punished) and one flank from another angle in a pioneer/espacio to stop you, hop out and ALIG/DMR it down. Kill guy healing the car (or disable him at the least) before shooting your OSMAW/ALIG, at that point repairing the vehicle is out of the question and they'll either have to bail or die. Volcano on the frontward, DMR/Dog Ear/ALIG on the flanks to finish the job up if that doesn't work Ram the security van with a pioneer/espacio to knock it off course and then car det your vehicle to disable it (can also use a satchel directly afterward) Set your car up with a satchel on the course of the van, wait and then blow up both, should disable or blow the truck up pretty much instantly You can also do variations of the above, of course. I'm sure there are ways to counter this gameplay and even more ways to disable the vehicle that I've not listed, but these are the ones I could think of off the top of my head.
  18. Ah, then I agree, I thought you meant they should do it with the current engine, which would be an absolute disaster, when they actually upgrade the engine then I'm all for making the game look more modern.
  19. Turning off Cyrillic will mean that people who speak with a Cyrillic alphabet will continue to communicate via Latin lettering in a language you can't understand. Source: Am Ukrainian living in America. I don't use the Cyrillic alphabet to communicate in my language.
  20. I agree with this to an extent, but I don't think we need to modernize anything until the game runs less garbage, the textures and models are ugly for sure but if we make the resolution of the textures higher then we'll be in a worse position than we already are, I don't think we need any more filler content, I think we need a decently running game.
