  1. While I'm necroposting a bit to bump this thread up again (hope expection can be made for that one) I guess this thread is still revelant, especially now - with Halloween being back - as I saw many questions arise in-game about devil wings.
  2. Premium only partially speed up grind. But still is great help long-term. Sadly no way to bypass that. But I can say that from personal perspective... Being lone wolf and grinding is more tiresome than doing it with good friends.
  3. I mean you can affect skill curve but each kind of this change is revolutionary to say at least. I don't want APB to go in different direction about how guns work as this is both problematic to do properly and also won't help long-term. Skill curve will get flattened but especially veterans such like me will eventually pick up ropes pretty quickly. Skill curve can remain as it is. It is it's correlation with knowledge which is problematic - it usually don't correspond to what we see. New player with only few hints how to move gets thrown into game against veterans who played this game since OBT, CBT or even RTW. Hardly fair for first party.
  4. Gosh, I watched this train derail at my work. It's like explaining basic things to flat-earthers. It was funny. Defintely upvote. Todesklinge represent perfect example of Dunning-Kruger effect.
  5. That is so wrong, there many games with even older population than ours. Tibia, Runescape or WoW from top of my head are first to come. And while both Runescape and WoW got major change in engine, Tibia for example didn't. If game is unique, it will hold itself up - as long as it can be played. This game which died during APB lifetime? They either one of thousand games of the same generic theme of MMORPG, simply bad in every aspect or are EA title ( ).
  6. While it might sound good from brand point of view (brand loyality and all of that), stagnant population in game isn't anything good. Most of mechanics in APB are based on promise that there will be always new players filling up void of constantly increasing more experinced playerbase to create "skill tiers". With APB it don't work - bah... it's outright abused by experinced playerbase - and in some twisted way playerbase balance itself out by this... as long as we getting fresh blood that is. We talk about dethreating of course. Dethreating is effectively vampirism. Each time new player joins the game during his first 5 matches is pretty guaranteed to land match against several year veterans playing this game. Veterans prey on unexperinced fresh players and you don't have to look much around - it's commonplace situation even now on all bronze districts in both Jericho and Citadel. Ever tried some unknown MMORPG from depth of internet? Never could get into it and all content locked behind PvP is impossible to reach because of entrenched veterans in PvP? That's how newbie in APB feels. In APB it's 10 times worse though as APB is 100% PvP game. So new player after several matches most likely having negative opinion being litteraly steamrolled at first matches by top tiers, give up and never comes back. And funny thing is... there is karma in APB with stagnant population. Ever felt like there is shitton of cheaters around? Well... that's disease of low populated games in stagnancy. In normal working games with dynamic populations - meeting cheater is rarity, mainly due high population of overall players, to that there is big rotation of them causing cheaters to be mostly flushed out by sheer numbers of all other players. Anyone wondering how this is correlated should ask themselves this basic question: Where 1 cheater makes big difference? In population of 700 players or in population of 70000 players? So wanna fix problem of cheaters and dethreaters? Well there are several ways for that - and to understand problems we need to know about two things - skill curve and learning curve. Here's how they represent themselves right now in my personal opinion: Skill curve: Learning curve: This images were required for me to represent solutions, which are: 1. Flatten skill curve - which is impossible as each player is unique on it's own and skilled less or more. 2. Lock people in corresponding sections of knowledge and skill curves - newbie for greens, basic for bronze, seasoned for silver, veteran for gold - quick solution which might create problem of creating new characters just to dethreat and kill off veteran population (due to insanely high skill in group which some might not meet). In positive (but unlikely case) it can create it's own curves within each population (newbies, basic, seasoned, veterans) and prevent intermixing in battles newbies and veterans so the first group can really learn and have fun and other have proper challenge matching their knowledge. 3. Flatten knowledge curve - while you can't make newbie posses veteran knowledge, you can make them posses at least basic one. Proper and interactive tutorial (not current wall of text) - something like we had in past during first years of G1 reign - just learning you to do everything you need to know about APB. That way we at least lift up newbies to basic status - which would help them already a lot. PVE interactivity can also help less skilled players (or this who look for other activities than constant PvP) to enjoy themselves despite PvP competiveness and toxicity - although I imagine brining such action to reality would need total redesign of game. 4. Open discussion? - Democracy is not bad but we as community really need to think of action, not just leave it as it is and say "it's alright" - it ain't. I see LO doing something in regard to players being pushed away by veterans (actions like bringing ARMAs to Joker Distribution are great) but it seems that this actions are not enough. What do you guys think?
  7. Yeah but I want also to play other games than APB. As many people said here before building anything over 500 $ up for one game is idiotic unless you are proffesional esporter or streamer. Plus powerful build will last for at least 5 years with current tendency of technology advancement. Everything budget won't. I prefer to spend once 2500-3000$ than 700$ every year.
  8. Actually, RTX 3000 series is cheaper than RTX 2000 series with expection of RTX 3090 which is somehow priced like RTX 2080 was at launch but sporting performance of RTX Titan. Seems like good deal for me. New games still got good games among them and also with such powerful GPU, VR is easily supported so... I think it's worth it. To OP: Well and here I am planing to build my PC on RTX 3090 rip.
  9. I know this are newbies. I know they might not know. But still... Seeing your personal car being driven somewhere far, far away by new player. I swear there is some circle of Hell down there for this.
  10. You all see "realism". I see potential to make silly characters look even more silly.
  11. Meh. I expected some good thread, not next whine about cheats and nothing being done.
  12. Aren't you guys waiting for new generation of consoles or something?
  13. Oh c'mon - I can spill beans from time to time - especially on something which anyone playing this game can realize themselves... It's like giving away secret how to make latte. Pretty common knowledge if you really want to know it. This who don't - buy it from Starbucks.
  14. Well it depends by how many kills per hour you can produce simply said - when we talk about weapon ranks. Mission roles are more of action RNG. I remember I was hunting for certain missions with hacking objectives all over it, just to fill up white hat rank. Also did it on almost empty servers most of time, just to focus on mission role, not damn enemy for that moment. Cop rank is more of grind, LTL weapon is good enough against one but it's overhelmed if you get more of enemies at the same given time against you. Result? You die a lot, even if you are good. About gunslinger and grenadier as well as explosives roles - they can be easily completed within few days without much effort. Oh and there is ammo resupplying role... honestly I farmed it up with friends - I would need to sit numerous years to fill it up legit way, that's time I would spend on everything else.
  15. Got like 110k kills rn. and it won't increase cause no point with roles completed and progress maxed out as of current. Only did that shit for roles which completion of is more impressive in my opinion than total kills numbers (and honestly completing this damn mission roles after having all contacts maxed out is the most impressive). Nothing says more HOW said player got them than roles. Might like some of FC regulars driven car bombs into spawns to rack up some place in first sixth every round. And the fact that he don't have roles completed? Naaah. Look at my total kills!
  16. I fixed it by turning it off from power for night (probably "quick boot" was at fault for twice the failure at different boots in that case) and it downloaded 20 mb of some files and now it works. @OdomizavK does it work for you rn?
  17. Well. Whatever you guys did seemed to cause some unstability in combo of my setup and your software. Today I was unable to run game. Game started, movies were going, loading screen as well and it always freezes on login screen - Steam version of Gamersfirst one. After minute or two, I'm kicked back to Windows with no indication of error from APB.exe Tried to repair game 3 times via launcher - it didn't replaced single file, reinstalled it - still nothing. I attached logs from both day where it worked properly (yesterday) and today after patch. Testrun your patches, can you? I might lost nano challenge for today... 18. What any anti-cheat be it EAC or BE need to focus about is closetting and that was my main point ever since I started playing this game. Even right now without pointing names I can say we have players who in-game are top tiers in every matches you encounter them in but somehow this doesn't translate to veteran knowledge about this game. Blatants were never a problem. Everyone can see them, GM won't have real breaks to get rid of em as they are visibly cheating. And people easily distance themselves from them, even if they are active during their sessions. Closets on other hand. Pretend they are someone they really aren't via cheating meaning really skilled players are pushed back by them. Disguise themselves as rightful "veterans" of game as to undermine game progress (I mean if there would be some independent anti-cheat which would prove 99,9% cases of closets they would stand idly? Nah. Same goes for some of changes proposed here which got strangely bombarded by some people not normally active on this forum - just saying). They fakely elevate already steep skill curve of this game. The worst though is - they pretend to be me or you - so they will not look like cheaters but they are. And they constantly gaining advantage via them. So closets won't use your blatant aim, just smooth one, which would be something which would pretend very skilled hand in games. They won't usually use WH as human nature would make them follow targets they shouldn't see. They would probably use ESP, after all in most cases, it's very hard if not impossible to prove that you didn't just happen to look in some direction - and it's still pair of additional eyes. etc. etc. So focus more on closets, blatants we will report.
  19. Next free regen of premium... are you guys surely alright? Just asking out of worry...
  20. Depends on your rig. i3 of 3rd generation, 8gb of RAM, 1 GB GPU and HDD means that in district such like Asylum you gonna have 20-25 fps, playable, very uncomfortable though. Still even in damn social I had... 40 fps. In social. And to top it off this 40 fps are unstable, usually were getting their chopiness from time to time and dropped to 1 second freeze, similiar stuff of course happened in Asylum but for some reason more rarely. For comparsion in current live Asylum right now I got 30-35 fps, probably caused because of player customizations, social is at 100 fps. Now some background tho. so it doesn't look like I'm "yeah it's not better" - first for some reason APB program didn't used full capacity of computers, at least according to task manager - this was pretty much reported by any owner of low setup rigs. We made reports so who knows, maybe in second beta it will be tackled. And loading times are significantly reduced leading me to believe that it is more of hardware conflict. Reason why I wanted them to put low setup rigs to test beta in past while everyone laughed at me. So I wouldn't cross out beta just yet. Most players with better rigs had at least okey experince as far as I know. There were bugs, missing features and other problems but that was reason why public beta was there - to find them with player eye.
  21. Dunno why you all need more than 5 seconds honestly. Whole point of this theme is just to play some leitmotif and let killed player respawn, if you want anything longer there are songs. Also bug known to the veteran community for a long time.
  22. Honestly? In my opinion it doesn't matter either way. Played on FC for several years, quit not so long ago. Spawn killing issue in takeouts missions was caused by fact that Baylan is too damn small for full population (and also because this spawn system seriously needs rework as it got only fixed spawn points about which pretty much everyone are aware of) Can't see how capture territory would change that, after all objectives for JT activities won't change so pretty sure only part of population gonna be engaged in actual capture and second in killing.
