i don't think you're factoring in the actual potential costs what happens if little orbit says "its okay to be a nazi in our game" or "it's okay to sexually harass people in our game" and apb gets removed from steam? if the ongoing deal to get apb listed on epic games is put on hold? if the server provider that apb uses decides to terminate the contract? if the storm of negative publicity begins to affect little orbits other business ventures? the problem with using shock advertising and negative pr is if the resulting controversy gets too much attention, other companies will do anything they can to show "the public" that they aren't involved

progression is a huge part of retaining players - proper progression can legitimately make up for gameplay flaws if it’s addicting exciting enough, but apb doesn’t have that
