Should the GamersFirst brand be retired?
VickyFox replied to mtz's topic in General Discussion Archive
I can't blame a person for being who they are... ...however for not putting in the effort, not caring enough to finish what they started. Yeah, I think I can look at them and say, "You knew what they were getting into". -
Should the GamersFirst brand be retired?
VickyFox replied to mtz's topic in General Discussion Archive
If LittleOrbit pulls of RIOT mode successfully and the engine upgrade smoothly, then heck yeah they are a fine dark horse! I am quietly optimistic and hopeful, it seems MattScott wants to get this right the first time. And no, I agree with DarkZero. GamerFirst effectively abandoned the community from late 2015 to 2018. GamersFirst said they would do the Engine Upgrade but delayed it. Then they had the audacity to ask the forum if the Engine Upgrade should be prioritised before other new content, There were word that the Engine Upgrade would be done in Q1 2014... ...we're still waiting 5 years on! I have had a argument and lost a potential friend who insisted that GamersFirst did more, and was better than LittleOrbit. Rose tinted glasses and nostalgia isn't going save APB now, and the course GamersFirst Left APB in was the same way as the ship Titanic! Changing a name and logo isn't going to change anything for the players other than maybe the website address, and ending bad memories of a disliked company. I am grateful for a few good things the old GamersFirst team did, but that name is associated with all the bad things and was for years before LittleOrbit came in... this isn't something new! That name, GamersFirst was a insult to many: The Armas pricing, little or no new content, as well as poor customer service. It didn't feel like GamersFirst cared for the game itself or the community, but were in it for the money. GamersFirst and Reloaded Productions conducted themselves as if feeling intimidated by the community, There was no interaction with the community for the last year and a half at least. And before that interaction was very small, sometime it was good and sometimes it was bad but it didn't feel like GamersFirst cared either way. Find 1 friend that used to play APB:Reloaded and quit before LittleOrbit took over and ask them: "Would you return to APB:Reloaded with GamersFirst still there?" With the old GamersFirst team gone, why do we still have the bad reputation of the past?! So for both new and old players, I urge LittleOrbit to reconsider having that name being stain on APB's reputation after such good work has been done to turn it around. -
Actually that is a very good point. Mobile spawns close to contested objective shouldn't be allow for a respawn, but to be honest knowing what the Pair of Socks can be like and hearing them complaining about a bad play made me completely overlook that. It's hard to tell when A Pair of Socks is being serious and this is one of those time. I might not take Socks seriously when they are being serious and frankly it is just easier to treat it as it's not.

Little Orbit took over GamersFirst in an acquisition 10 month ago... The game still lags because the game still runs on the same game engine which Little Orbit are now testing a replacement. GamersFirst and Reloaded Productions gave up and didn't do anything between 2015 and 2018, in just over a year Little Orbit nearly fixed the game. If you've ONLY just come back, then you wouldn't of seen the progress and hard work Little Orbit has done. Requesting a gun to replace another gun you've not tried, and without any reason or detail for this new gun... Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but the minimal effort put into this suggestion make me not want to take it seriously.

You have a NSSW and 2 nades and you can see their mobile spawns on radar..? Going for the flank of the NHVR was a good move but then you're open. In hind sight you could of potentially gone straight across the plaza and used the glass barriers as cover to shoot back, run close enough to block the mobile spawn but not so close within range of a remote detonator. Once all opponents are down there no risk of remote det, so you can take those mobile spawn out with a few shots of the NSSW and a nade each. Each loss is a potential lesson to be learnt for next time.

By the looks of it: the angle of the numbers alignment to the syringe casing and the boldness of the font makes me think this was edited on to the image, but it is such a small part of the image that i could be wrong... it is hard to tell. There is a lot of editing done to the website but while a all of it is deliberate, not all of it is significant but this is such a small details that it would be unnecessary to do if it didn't have some meaning. With that said, I don't see how this would tie in to everything else. It didn't before but it is meant to look like that now.

Ok to answer the enquiry No date confirmed yet of the new engine upgrade release, but it is currently being tested by a select group. We hope the engine upgrade will be ready some time this year, but LittleOrbit do not want to build up hope only for them to be broken. It's arguable if it is a suggestion but: A new match making system with ranks are going to be done but again no confirmed time as the new game mode called "RIOT" and the engine upgrade are most likely to come before the match making system changes. Tutorials and district restrictions has been something LittleOrbit has been considering but there is no single answer to how to make the game more easier or inviting for new players. LittleOrbit have made it so you need to be rank 30 to join FightClub, this is to try and lower incentive for cheaters and prevent new players entering a game which may find a bit hard.

What you are suggesting is inflation, basically the real world equivalent of just printing more money so people can shop more and makes markets more active... The problem is if you increase the pay for everyone... Who is to say people selling won't raise the prices of items in market to meet the money's new value, there is no rule against it! Yes everyone gets more money but in response, everything on the market will become more expensive sooner or later. Within a day you will notice prices on the marketplace go up. Now I do agree that some content unlocked at some higher ranks makes no sense at all... I mean vehicle brick mods... a f-cking brick is unlocked at 195... How any criminal not get a brick in San Paro?! Forget being a computer game, that make no logical sense at all. For mobility sling, sorry but it's a luxury but i would suggest it goes down to about rank 100 or so. 195 does seem a bit high, High magnification scope should stay where it is I feel. To maintain a economy, there does need to be some money drains to stop the rich people getting infinitely rich forever and ever without anything to stop them. Taxes normally do this which is 20% on APB's market place but there is also the Car Spawners and Joker ammo vending machines. What could be suggested is to have the costs lower for lower ranks and then costs of car spawn and ammo increased when you get higher ranks. while it may seem like the game is harder for higher ranks then, it is easier on the wallet for new players. Unfortunately the Market place tax cannot be changed or people will exploit it with new characters to try and get around the tax. This shouldn't affect the market greatly but rather redistributes where the money is and goes.

I quickly dismissed it as a generic graphic business graphic.

Why is the Talon so garbage and Fang so brokenly OP?
VickyFox replied to a topic in General Discussion Archive
I am asking myself why are people asking why is the RFP variants to different now and not before LO's acquisition. -
The account is online and should be transferable between consoles of the same console brand in theory. The only reason I can imagine that this would not be possible is if APB cannot be supported by the new xbox console or if it requires a new set of servers.

why do players ignore the car spawners?

If you think someone in your team should be doing something then say so or take the initiative to do it yourself. -
Considering how much effort both the community and staff went into this and with the code so far being "6ac20d50-_ _ _ _-4f0f-_ _ _ _-3ec51de745d7", it would have to guess some sort of exclusive content would be the reward like a new unique gun skin. I find myself going this was fairly elaborate and quite well thought out for a reward which they could of done something like "RedHillnessRiots" as a 7 day premium code for example... but I have been proven wrong before.

The fact it number 2 of 3 makes me question if we're to late for the first blueprint, or if they are not in order. I wouldn't hold my breath on finding all 3. Saying that we are just missing 2 more parts of the code still.

Gee there's quite a bit to have to filter though here. Firs off I believe Redhill has been subject of 2 hackings, one by an activist group trying to warn people with the below picture The activist may of tried to write a message in black but the message: I suspect a second hacker caused the corruption of the RedHill Institute website and has written in magenta the following: "PWNeD" written in the name and "@55h0l3" written in the email newsletter form "BlueLake" written over the News About RedHill as mentioned by NekoSenpai "Why" written at the end of the report on Redhill's Court ruling report. "NICE TRY" and finally by the line wolf hacker left a coded message, Now it may be a red herring intended to distract but I tired my best to clean up the image to make it a bit more easier (sorry to those that are colour blind). Does anyone recognise this code format? It may just be part of a schematic or it could be an image used to help decipher something else, I'm not sure but I just think this grid is something to bare in mind considering it shows up 3 times. When overlayed they are a match but nothing really comes about of them, the first "grid" is quite difficult to work with considering part of the website is still there. And yes tinfoil hat seen was a Easter egg reference to LadyTiggs and the old GamersFirst team, as well as conspiracy theorists... -edit- I doubt this would work but if the Secondary Lone Hacker is reading this, could you give us a vowel please. Such as the Letter E?

So criminals are left just sitting there and cannot be rescued by teammates, also while making it harder for enforcers to get the arrest in the first place? Surely that's making it worse for everyone..?

Screenshots deleted upon request LO...
VickyFox replied to vfterlife's topic in General Discussion Archive
When you agree to using the Open Test World, you agree that it's for testing of content and features which which may be highlighted by LO. Any anomalies or errors found with said content under testing should be reported to LO. The access to the Open Test World is something granted by Little Orbit out of trust, Do not test or abuse that trust. Just to be clear OTW is for testing purposes under guidance, and not reviewing the game as content in OTS may and can change before final live server release. It is debatable if this is unintended use of a service and against the rules. Actually it would be an leak from an external source rather than an internal leak. The content is not intended to be accessed if the server is closed to the public, Just because it's no longer internal doesn't mean that it's no longer restricted. To the press, media and SPCT, they would of signed a non-disclosure agreement with an embargo which would be later lifted, this gives Little Orbit the legal right to have space to be in peace and do what they need to while also prevent anyone getting an advantage of revealing content before others unfairly. Just because you haven't been given an NDA doesn't mean you're in the clear, It is still Little Orbit's content, their forum, their business and have every right to protect their product. I'm not sure if data-mining goes against APB's EULA section 3. (3.1.1 and 3.1.5)? -
St. Patrick's day wasn't celebrated in previous years with a holiday event or reward from my recollection..? I don't mean to be rude to anyone who has Irish heritage or relations but St. Patrick's day is a celebration of the saint that brought Christianity to Ireland. A lot of messages of religion holidays have been lost in time to commercialism but while St. Patrick should be respected and celebrated none the less, It is still somewhat subjective. There are other holidays with different religions and cultures obviously as well as others within Christianity (EG: Epiphany/Mardi Gras/Shrove Tuesday) Oh and Yood, There is already an Irish flag skin on Armas Marketplace, so a alternative skin would advisable.

Well I think he gave a reasonable response that he isn't trying to build up hype because that could lead to people being disappointed, also What Unreal Engine 3.5 in testing looks like could be different from the release due to some alterations needed. It shouldn't be concerning that there are no screenshots. It should be concerning if we don't hear any updates at all.

I'm not a fan of Battle Royale, but have you seen GTA Online? It's just going over the top and feels more like Saints Row now. Just a power trip game.

Well LO you guys killed the only game I love
VickyFox replied to Javanick's topic in General Discussion Archive
But the game wasn't maintaining itself. for years the population was on a decline and with unreal engine 3. CPUs were limited to 1 core thread... So as newer CPUs come out with more cores, the worse the game played. When APB was first released, it was unoptimised and today it has been optimised to best it can be ...for computers that are between 5 and 10 years old! APB had to change or it would of died and it is so close to dying right now. -
What FC map doesn't though? lol
-
Do you wish to elaborate on what you mean by "collapsing map" because it is not reassuring to hear such a term used when it is a feature frequently used in modern Battle Royales. -Is RIOT going to have a inward constricting circular area of play, or is the the map restrictions going to be handled differently? -Also is the map restrictions going to be triggered by an action or automatic on a time delay?

LO's recipe for a sucessfull game
VickyFox replied to sakafiskafnjak's topic in General Discussion Archive
A healing wound rarely is painless experience in the short term, but it is necessary for a long term recovery. -
You can't blame a gaming journalist... or heck ANYONE for being fed up of the Battle Royale craze. So yeah, it's a normal reaction to be sceptical especially with APB's previous history of PR events which have had incorrect details. Personally I am sceptical but thinking about this in a logical sense, I am quietly optimistic but also cautious and won't take things for face value until I see with my own eye the fruit of LO's labour.
