Every program people keep askin if it's ok or not is going to need testing to be approved. So the more crap you want to be approved, the more time they'll have to spend with trying out them and possibly tuning things. Also each time something that interferes with the game is whitelisted there is an opportunity for cheat makers to find loopholes in the exceptions made to allow it. Any hole that is punched through the wall is a potential leak source. From developement point of view it would be much easier just to say that "all file edits and 3rd party tools are out of the question" but it would lead to a lot of disappointment and anger from the community because people for whatever reason can't use controls in the way they are designed in the game while they simultaineously want to be able to get 120fps on a potato. They are likely to want to please the majority of reasonable requests even if each one those costs several days in developement time.

[Poll] RTW's artstyle or G1 Engine 3.5 artstyle?
Chinook replied to IAmDisappointSon's topic in General Discussion Archive
In RTW there was too much light everywhere during the night. But the light sources looked nicer because they were more "bright". Now for example windows with light emitting from them just look like someone has painted them yellow. The light sources in general look way too dark. What we currently have improved upon that, is that the darker areas are now better. The dark alleys and shady backstreets are now much more like what they should have always been. Unfortunately this happened with the cost of everything looking so dark and badly lit, even in the middle of the day open areas are like there's serious smog issue in san paro and heavy clouds. It looks almost like it's about to start raining any second... I want bright days, dark back alleys during night and general improvement on how bright/dark the light sources look at any given time. -

Want to play with dev team and LO staff?
Chinook replied to Lixil's topic in General Discussion Archive
The good ol' dev launcher. I genuinely miss some of the shenanigans devs played on us in the past. The "Elf-inflicted Wounds" xmas event was propably my all-time favorite so far. ( for different kind of experience, play the elf-inflicted wounds video without sond with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTk1D-BN-WQ as soundtrack, clicking them to play simultaineously ) -

I wish matchmaking would have thrown me on a mission against you... Would have loved that no matter the end result. You should think about doing something like this more often, maybe even on a regular basis... A couple of hours once or twice a month shouldn't hurt you too much? Right? -

Why are people still playing APB:R? RPS Article Discussion
Chinook replied to Rumple's topic in General Discussion Archive
Despite multiple attempts to create proper GTA-esque 3rd person shooter with open world elements and some kind of matchmaking, not even AAA companies have gotten it right so far. APB is still something many game developers could use as point of refrence when they are working on such thing. GTA V for example was a massive blunder when it comes to certain things that are critical in PvP scenarios. It's more like just PvE game with PvP based griefing opportunities than proper PvP thingy. -
I changed my wording a bit, but it is the most likely scenario. At some point the cheats being tuned to be less-obvious and top 1% skill are going to overlap in some parts of the statistics.

With population numbers being restored to what they used to be some time ago, it has naturally brought in some of the bottom feeders who like to watch their computer play the game for them. You can either ride out the storm or wait for the battleye patch. And despite what some people claim, fairfight and their in-house anticheat are most likely (99%) running. Fairfight just isn't on full-auto at the moment, because of some issues with false positives that have likely caused some collateral damage in form of legit players being banned for being too good in the game. (Combine someone with very good reaction times and spot-on eye-hand coordination with something like 5000 to 10000+h in APB and he/she is bound to be quite special in terms of stats that get gathered by a tool like fairfight.)

📢 2 cents about players and GM recruitment 👀
Chinook replied to Tigrix's topic in General Discussion Archive
But person I quoted said players should be able to spectate. I didn't say GMs shouldn't be able, but I agree that finding the right people is critical. -

In the past I have had some encounters with some devs / staff ingame, mostly during first live runs of new events. It's always interesting to see how your overlords solve the everyday ingame challenges. -
📢 2 cents about players and GM recruitment 👀
Chinook replied to Tigrix's topic in General Discussion Archive
Some people have already used outside of mission friends to "ghost" opposing team pretty much since APB's launch. Being able to spectate specific player freely would be missused. Something along those lines. -
I don't think there is any issue when gifting when used as intended. I'd quess it's due to outside of marketplace trades involving armas gifts and credit card fraud. It is the most likely scenario. If that indeed is the case, I'd imagine that gifting could make return "Soon(tm)" with just some delay added somewhere in the process to limit damage from chargebacks.

The way logic is applied in this thread is frightening. Do people really see it as permission to cheat untill next patch because "lol, unbans coming"??? If anyone thinks it's ok to cheat for any reason, you have lost your way. Please be kind and unplug yourself from the internet.

Delayed announcement regarding GMs/Mods
Chinook replied to Lixil's topic in General Discussion Archive
You are to report all of those things to support through https://support.gamersfirst.com , not post them on the forum. You are not to share anything that support has emailed to you. It is for your eyes only. -
Some of you really going to pull clans into this debacle now too?

Doing 90% of the code takes 90% of the time originally allocated for the task. The last 10% will use the remaining 90% of time. Also after the integration is done, it needs to be turned into a patch, which is tested and then we'll propably know the day it comes out. It'll propably happen pretty quickly after they announce it. Now we just need to figure out how soon is soon from now, using the written history as reference.

We have entered the tin foil hat zone. There is no return.

I'd say that context you use it with matters. Put it on a car roof to make pretend General Lee Charger clone? I don't see any problem here. Put it on your billy-bob character's hunting vest? Mabye. Just keep your mouth in check. Use it anywhere while you act like a moron (hate speech, masked hate speech, wordplay of racistical term, glorification of slavery, anything which can be linked to racism really...)? Get out of my internet.

I do not want to really even talk about N-HVR, but something needs to be done. I'm just kinda lost with it and wishing it wouldn't exist, but that's as much due to some silly mechanics (QS) in APB as it is about the gun itself. It's a fine sniper rifle if you use it only for sniping from a far, but it shouldn't be able to be used in CQC to the degree it is being used at the moment while still getting away with using it in such way. I mean QSing with it you can challenge ALL CQC WEAPONS in the game and get away with it?!?
-
It isn't really that much of an issue and mostly pretty harmless except when they block mission objectives. That however requires that they know what your target is and the person to blame is either a friend of someone in opposing team or live stream viewer of someone in the match. It's something having active GMs can really help with though. However you can easily make yourself a target for griefing if you go crazy on the district chat or start whispering to the griefers. If you don't give them any reaction they'll get bored very quickly and move on.

Some people think everything they personally can't replicate with 100% success rate is always cheatning and never just luck and/or skill. Given how much lag sometimes breaks things from clientside point of view, I don't put much credibility on video evidence unless it's goat level stuff. Better just stop wasting your time, let alone waste support's time at time like this with a lot of genuine tickets to handle about login issues like password reset mails going to defunct adresses, etc... Play the game, make love to /report as much as you like and move on.
