The hell did you do to the bounty system
Flaws replied to TheHidden-Tember's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
Being skilled doesn't mean that you should deal with a sudden massive disadvantage because you are better than your opp. Not even blatant cheaters last long with a bounty on their head and that says a lot. They should not be getting it at all to begin with, it has nothing to do with the matchmaking. If good players had the option to never face randoms and lesser players, almost all of them would take it 10/10 times because it is incredibly boring to play against a team that stands no chance. We are talking about the game at a high level, where two actual good teams compete against each other and suddenly one of them gets a random massive disadvantage for no logical reason other than terrible game design from 10 years ago. At high level, every little mistake can make you lose the entire mission and being bounty is absolutely terrible for competitive play. -

I figured that you'd be one of those people who are going to get offended from an objective negative statement and I even said no offense twice. I explained it as it is, not as you'd like to hear it because that's where the truth is. You fail to understand why high skilled players have a problem with the bounty system so following basic logic it tells me that you are not a part of those players. Edit to your edit: It's not "life" and it shouldn't be. It's a game and it's a game that is competitive at it's heart. The bounty system takes a massive portion of that competitiveness away and kills the drive for a lot of good players. It's not something that good players should have to deal with when they are indeed doing good in their games. -

No offense but you clearly don't understand how this game works at a high level if you genuinely believe any of that (but you are silver threat so it's to be expected, again I don't mean to offend but it's facts). You even said it yourself that it "makes things more tense and balances it when you are getting stomped" yet you now claim that it's not a punishment and a "bonus stage" lol. It is a massive punishment because it literally exposes you on the map for all players on the enemy team, it lets others who have nothing to do with your mission damage you which will no doubt interfere with your actual mission. Being bounty mid-mission directly compromises your entire mission if you are holding a spot, if you are doing an objective and so on, which is very often the difference between win and loss. If you think that this isn't a punishment then that simply means that you don't even pay attention to most things that matter in the game when you play it. The radar, positioning, any kind of tactics at all that require team coordination and so on and all these things are compromised the moment you become bounty. -

I'm pretty that sure we already covered this in multiple threads. Being good should not be punishable in any PvP game, period. What is it that is still so unclear of why this is the way it should be? -

The matchmaking will be improved significantly once the engine upgrade comes out as all world servers will be merged and phasing will be introduced which means that MM will pick from the entire pool of active players instead of just one district. Even with the current population, that will be a significant improvement for everyone and as it is the main reason new players can't enjoy the game, that will give them a chance to enjoy it more. The bounty system will not, especially if they want to take it seriously. If anything it will deter them if it comes back. -

I already said that the game is incredibly RNG-ridden which is what gets in the way of it being truly competitive but that doesn't change the fact that it was made with it being competitive in mind. Let's not forget that even final stages aren't fair a lot of the time such as VIP or some bomb missions. Even deathmatch needs a rework because giving everyone wallhack and being able to run is not competitive in any capacity. But then combat and other mechanics such as not being able to kill players in cars, having up to 100m range, no headshots and so on are clearly features that were put in with something in mind. Also, like Lign said, if it's PvP then it's competitive. Whether you play it to compete or not does not decide what it is supposed to be for everyone else. That's not how it works in other games with a competitive nature and it shouldn't in this either if it wants to have any future beyond 2020. It's a competitive wannabe game that has so many RNG mechanics (such as the bounty system) that deter most competitive players so they go play something like CS:GO where skill actually matters. APB is one of the very few games I can think of where people who are leagues underneath you can win due to RNG or broken loadouts or running but then once you put some arranged match rules in, suddenly the game becomes times more enjoyable and skill based. The matchmaking system has nothing to do with the bounty system or any of the RNG, it's just more things that need fixing so the game can become semi-playable as what it was meant to be. Games like CS:GO and R6S have proper matchmaking and they don't punish you for being good and they attract new players on the daily. -

Another one of these threads complaining about the now improved state of the bounty system. The bounty system is absolutely ATROCIOUS at it's core and that's an understatement. The LEAST they could do is what they did with the latest update to it and it is a very welcome and commendable change. APB is competitive at it's core, whether people like it or not and that should be obvious considering it's gameplay focus. The way everything is structured, the missions, the combat and so on is incredibly obviously competitive oriented but they added a few features that got in the way of that and the bounty system is one of those. GTA is where it's at if you want a casual and "fun"-oriented experience, if you can even call something so distasterous as the bounty system fun in any capacity. It was just there to punish you for being actually good at the game and nothing else, it added nothing of value to the actual game and only took away from the already RNG-ridden disaster this game currently is. There are so many other things that need to get removed or changed that casuals think are just fine to be in a game that clearly tried to be competitive since it's creation. -
Yes, because that + the new anti-cheat and players getting unbanned and all the engine upgrade promises generated tons of hype but it's been over a year since then so that hype train has died down and players went back to other stuff, waiting for the promised engine in APB to come (the ones who haven't completely quit the game entirely). Even if you have no problems with the game, it has simply become boring and stale unless you seek to become a top player which isn't that popular in a game that's full of RNG and other issues that get in the way of that.

If you read what I wrote about it already you would know that just because you don't get a direct advantage over other players it doesn't make it pointless. Localization files are changed to make the text and UI/HUD of the game look better and more aesthetically pleasing. Removing the need of holding down Shift to sprint isn't a significant change either, neither are things like removing ambient sounds. It's all quality of life changes, they are not advantages. As such, Little Orbit has acknowledged that some of those things need to make it into the official game after the engine upgrade and they've allowed for them to be used until then which is very commendable on their part. If LO was another corporate company that's completely disconnected from it's players, this game would have half the amount of players you claim it has during peak times. The reason there are so few players is because everyone is waiting for the engine upgrade and they are simply bored of the game. New players don't populate the game as the game lacks matchmaking, especially right now as we have no threat segregation and new players get stomped 10x times as much as before in the bronze districts. It has zip zero nada nothing to do with configs lol. Yeah, it doesn't but the things that you can do with those other text files is insignificant anyway so I see no reason for this entire forum thread to exist or for players to be complaining about it, making such big false claims that it is somehow responsible for the low player count. That is ridiculous, absolute lunacy.

I see that you have not even bothered to read my previous posts where I clearly explained exactly what configs are able to give you in APB in general. None of the configs for APB give you any real advantage except for particle removals (which are considered cheating). I will say it again, playing the game vanilla is some self-righteous way of thinking that makes you feel special. It makes you feel like you play fair and others don't which is not the case at all. Not even custom crosshairs give you anything else than a better feeling for where the center of the screen is. Those crosshairs don't come with integrated aimbot in them. You still have to be able to aim for it to be of any relevance. I've played this game since 2010 without signifcant breaks and I can tell you a lot more about APB than you can possibly imagine despite you being here for about as long?

Removed deleted content - Flight In other games maybe, in APB it makes almost no difference. And if it makes you feel better, most of these things will likely be encrypted after 3.5 and they will be added as official features in the game.

Real cheats don't modify game files in 99% of cases. The fact that players are able to inject cheats into the APB executable, being able to bypass EAC or they just run external cheats that don't even require injections such as silent aim and color based triggerbots is the real issue, always has been. Editing text files in the APB folder doesn't give you aimbot or wallhack, it can't. Editing files is against the "Official" ToS but they've allowed for most of them at least until 3.5 comes out. Everyone is free to use what's at their disposal as long as it is not bannable (real cheats are bannable as we know) and people who get all self-righteous about playing the game fully vanilla are just being stubborn and they want to feel special somehow. There is nothing special or righteous about playing APB vanilla. Edit to your edit: It's not pointless to make the UI look much nicer and more aesthetically pleasing through editing localization or removing the need to hold down shift to sprint. Just because it doesn't give you a direct advantage over other players it doesn't make it pointless If it gives you an actual advantage then that's cheating. Those are vastly different things.

LOL please. Can you people stop with making sh*t up? Have you ever even tried or considered what any of those configs even give you? There is no config in this game that gives you unfair advantage except for the particle removals and that's not even half of the things you can get. Is it an unfair advantage if my kill feed is different colors or if my kill message says "clapped bro" in pink instead of "Enemy Killed" in ugly orange? Or is it always sprint which just saves me holding down shift but still yields the exactly same result in gameplay? Or maybe ambient sound removal. Yeah, that really makes me win more.... Even if you wanna try and argue that crosshairs are a "cheat", they really aren't because they give you no actual advantage. If you can't aim, you won't be able to hit any more shots crosshair or not. For the love of god, stop.

Another day, another thread by people who talk about stuff they know nothing about. Next.

It doesn't need to become esports to be an enjoyable experience. And having the bounty system as it was prior to the change is not enjoyable in any way. And it's not a dumb decision, it's a logical decision because APB is competitive at it's core but it needs many changes. The bounty system was only scratching the surface.

This was one of the best moves LO has done since they bought APB. But of course it's people who "need help when getting stomped" that hate it. It's to make the game more competitive and this is exactly where APB should be heading towards. If you want a casual experience (which the bounty system is all about), try GTA Online No longer do we need to have our missions affected or even lost due to getting bounty at a crucial time in a mission and getting hunted down by randoms. I sincerely hope that LO quit listening to the forum people as much as they have so far.

No. Definitively not. AT LEAST not until A proper matchmaking is introduced with phasing introduced. Missions get reworked and final stages such as VIP, Bomb and Truck Hold get rebalanced or removed entirely. And honestly even then the option should remain in the game all the same. Keeping high golds in a team with silvers and bronzes won't make them win any more against full premades with comms than they already do exactly due to the fact that those a) are new players and b) have no comms with said high golds to begin with. Also, having high golds in your team increases your chance of getting high golds as opp drastically so it's a lose lose for everyone if they stay in those missions. Besides, there are many other reasons why one might want to abandon a mission. For example, you shouldn't ever be forced to play in a team with someone you don't want to. Griefers? Trolls? Toxic players? It's one of the very few things that make this game semi-tolerable to play. Bad idea, bad idea overall.

I don't think that we need more threads questioning LO about the EU at this point. I am on the basis of "it comes when it comes" and I think that that's the healthiest mindset on the topic.

One of the many possible causes for that error is having literally no free space on the drive where APB is installed.

Good news, however a bit of fair criticism: Please make sure that everything is properly planned out and ready to go before you do anything crazy in the future to avoid unacceptable incidents like this one. Sure, we can play 24/7 but at what cost? Everything else is horrible without threat segragation. The matchmaking is horrific and new players are quitting the game faster than ever due to getting completely destroyed by veterans and they have nowhere else to go and no choice but to keep fighting 10-year veterans over and over. The veterans on the other hand are sick and tired of playing against teams of trainees and bronzes all day long and they have nowhere to escape that either so they are likely to quit too (because contrary to popular opinion, good players actually do hate playing against new players and there is no fun in stomping them). We absolutely need threat segragation back up at least until phasing is introduced. The way it was after the incident and until now is the worst APB's matchmaking has ever been. -

I personally hate events too but 12 deaths was one of the very few things I enjoyed during holiday APB. Snowballs isn't that bad as it can be satisfying to get kills but 12 deaths is more fun (save for the volcano stage). -
It's not a droprate. Loyalty rewards are purely based on how much G1C you spend which is the real money currency in APB. When you spend X amount, you get certain weapons and every X amount G1C you get boxes and 15-day premium codes as well (which are bound to your account). The drop rate of the things that drop from those boxes is a different thing altogether though.
