I'm honestly pretty happy to hear about this, I feel like ever since IR was changed and the Meta shifted away from it completely the game felt like it hard far less depth due to there only being 1 playable Red mod in the game. (HB and IR both came down to the same thing, an increase in TTK which is not suitable for most guns in APB so they both became very niche mods that only worked somewhat well on a hand full of guns.) I feel like reverting it will be good for the game overall, even if some guns aren't directly affected by the downside of IR. However, now that it will be reverted there are still guns that utilize IR that should be looked at, namely the RFP 'Fang'. I also really hope that from now on the first step is to look at overperforming weapons and not at a mod that they all have in common, it is pretty logical that IR is used on most of the Meta weapons as we've been in more of a ranged meta for years as most of the weapons that have quite a fair amount of range are also extremely versatile such as the N-tec as it has very little max bloom and fast bloom recovery, making it perform really well in close range even against some of the SMG's. The other example of a versatile range gun being the OBIR, it's extremely high health damage per burst (495/1000) allows it to be used in close range by bursting someone once, dealing 495 damage and then as soon as the burst is finished switching to your secondary which in most cases will be an FBW which will then only need 3 shots to finish said person off. The easy way to fix this would be to add a switching delay to the OBIR so you are blocked from switching to your secondary until you can fire another burst. Guns such as the HVR-762, Scout, STRIFE already have this mechanic built into them so it would be very easy to implement this. All in all, I'm happy about this development and I will definitely hop on again after the patch, although, I am honestly kind of afraid about the CSG Pr1 becoming too strong with the consistency changes to shotguns and the old IR.

I love my Pioneer so don't talk shit about my semi-detachable 4 bedroom house.

Marketing and selling Premium helps them fund the future development of the game. In my PoV you're just clearly overreacting, the Engine upgrade can only do so much and I rather have a hand full of devs working on it rather than the complete mess that we had many years ago when it came to updates because nothing was organized properly and things were pushed without being tested due to it. What they're doing is allowing passionate players that want to support the game in the long term to buy premium at a reduced price which is something other games such as World of Warcraft do aswell.

How are you gonna do me like that

Well, it's 80ms because people use no red modification on the N-tec now and even if it would be CJ 1 or 2 because 3 is currently bugged and makes it bloom far more than intended. I suppose 3.5 will allow this process to be much easier and should also come with a lot more optimization than what we currently have. I totally agree that the game needs to be made easier to understand for newer players, matchmaking plays a huge part in the unenjoyable learning curve of APB while a new Tutorial should be a big priority for them after 3.5 launches.

This didn't really make more guns viable but the complete opposite. The Meta shifted from three ranged guns to one because of the other two now getting outclassed by the Obeya. The Obeya and N-tec in CQC play the exact same way if you ignore that one is fully automatic and the other is semi-automatic. Before it wasn't as much of an issue because most people would use IR3 on the Obeya but now that people are using CJ2/3 it has become basically what the N-tec is with less killing potential when multiple targets are present. The Obeya's accuracy when tapping fast is still very accurate just like the N-tec was with IR3, you can somewhat decently hipfire it even with HS3 and on top of that it's jumping accuracy is insane so people can still "Jump and lean" with the gun. The OBIR was incredibly powerful and was used a lot amongst top tier players because it is arguably the best support weapon in the game, or at least was before the IR change which now forces the gun to be either played really defensively as you can not effectively take on targets by your own. Now if you take IR off it you can take on targets a little easier but lose a lot of your range which then makes you go, why should I use this if the Obeya kills me far faster and on top of that has about the same range? I definitely agree, we have different opinions on how guns and mods should perform with or without them. I've played APB long enough and went through many meta changes but as it stands right now there is a hand full of guns that are actually of use on the higher level of play because reducing the viability of IR made a lot of guns perform worse and then get overshadowed by another gun simply because they don't have the flexibility when it comes to mods as the gun that overshadows them - Obir / Obeya is a perfect example for this. I just think at this point it will be hard to completely change mods and how they work as it'll piss off a lot of players, especially the veterans. I want changes for sure, the meta has been dominated by ranged weapons for too long, however, I believe that they need a team of dedicated players to give them proper feedback on weapon changes before pushing things to live and then also have a team of more casual players that are also willing to give proper feedback. There should be a fair balance between balancing things around average players and also highly skilled players. There are things in the game that are "easier" to balance that weapons such as missions, namely 4-5 minute Scavenger missions or missions that require you to raid and deliver 2 heavy items in the same stage.

I believe the new version is good, and people only need to get used to that the mod being a tradeoff rather than a straight upgrade. Max bloom was completely insignificant for every weapon except the ones that you'd be going fully automatic with on range. Mid to long range in APB was always about versatility and as it stands right now weapons that relied on IR3 are average at best now. The N-tec while still an insanely good weapon is getting outclassed on range now due to the meta shifting to CJ2/3 Obeya when it comes to range, making the Obeya while argueably a little worse in CQC the flat out better gun for pretty much every situation as it does everything the N-tec did before the IR change. IR on Live is currently a dead mod, you barely ever see it being used anymore, making it a second Heavy Barrel which means that its only useful on less than a hand full of guns, leaving Cooling Jacket as the only viable Red mod in the game. I agree that on some weapons it didn't have a downside because they typically weren't being bloomed out a whole lot or not at all. However, I am personally never saw IR as a broken modification, even if some guns weren't affected by its downside, it's always been like this for almost a decade at this point and I've rarely ever saw people complain about it. The change they did to it now where IR3 gives 15% increase in range +3 meters on top of that only makes the mod even more confusing, go and ask a random max rank gold that you've never seen before and ask him what the effective range of the OBIR is, he will not be able to tell you because it isn't explained in the game properly. All in all, rebalancing the mod because its downside was not affecting all guns left many other guns crippled and changed the meta in a very stale way because the way it is right now the past 3 ranged meta weapons were cut down to one, going from N-tec, OBIR, Obeya CR-762 to just the Obeya CR-762. While the other two guns are still somewhat effective they are far less versatile which makes them not really all that viable in the Meta anymore. Meta changes are good, however, changing a modification has a massive impact compared to changing the values of a single gun. Basically all guns that have IR3 as a preslotted modification such as the ATAC Patroller, Obir Vladivostok, CSG PR1/2 are all effectively useless now, the trade off that IR3 provides is simply not worth it as any increase in TTK in APB is undesirable.

I ask myself this quite a lot because something definitely needs to be done since the mod is completely dead since the change. Funnily enough everytime I think about a new downside it just ends up with the same thing which is me realizing how increasing max bloom is the downside that just makes the most sense, especially because some of the preset guns were built with IR in mind such as the Atac Patroller. I'd really like them to go back to what it originally did and work on that downside, making it so it increases Bloom far more would be an option, alternatively, if they wanted to go back to their original reasoning for changing it they could make it so the current rate of fire decrease is there but ONLY for burst rifles. Having two different downsides depending on the weapon type wouldn't be something new as the same logic is already applied for Cooling Jacket on Shotguns.

If you're using old localizations files such as those used to have the last stage for missions displayed in the mission names then there is a very high chance that the file with the mod name and description is also one from before the IR change which means that the description will not line up with what the mod actually does.

Funnily enough this has been a thing since forever and I believe it basically works on every wall thin enough to push a very slight part of your hitbox through it. Clip of the same bug from over a year ago.

It's not being asked to ban every cheater. It's a free to play game afterall, however, it is somewhat hilarious and yet sad to see certain max ranks that had their 20 accounts unbanned in the unban wave Speedhacking their patootie off ever since the release of BE without being punished even once. If something as blatant as a speedhacking shawcopter doesn't get banned in multiple months of said person playing daily then there is something wrong with BE. Cheating is once more getting out of control as BE seems even more useless than FairFight in its last iteration before it was removed. Support takes too long to handle cheating cases within a reasonable amount of time and it is also rumored that permanent bans are only handed out if BE deems you a cheater, if support deems you a cheater thanks to evidence but BE is not then your account is suspended for 30 days. All in all, the playerbase is rapidly declining for a good reason. GM's are useless, I am fairly certain they don't even have the power to ban players which basically just makes them what SPCM's used to be just with a fancier ingame tag.
-
I fully understand that you are a small team of people that are working on resolving support cases, however, I'd argue that it would probably be smart to have a smaller team handling cases that need far quick attention such as compromised accounts or cheating reports. A lot of people really are not happy with the way BattlEye works as it seemed to have very little impact on cheaters now that they're returning and there is people literally speedhacking since its implementation that have yet to get banned. All in all BE isn't doing a great job and waiting 30~90 days for a support ticket regarding said person doesn't really sound like a valid solution to the issue.

In regards to the post above me (Can't quote for whatever reason) This has been an issue ever since Radar Tower was introduced into the game. Basically, if you die within its radius you will show up on the radar for a split second after you spawned. Also to note is that you can also see the radar tower icon on your spawn screen if they happen to spawn before you do, everyone in your team can see this.

I'm afraid that beacon would only really work out without the "New" Spawning system. I'm pretty sure everyone that played the Christmas event on Beacon can without a doubt say that spawns were incredibly broken even outside the FFA mode.

2FA (Two Factor Authentication) and it's current status
Frosi replied to Lucidy's topic in General Discussion Archive
I really want this myself. I use 2FA for pretty much every service I use and would love for this to be a thing in APB. -
I hope the team realizes that no one will show up if it's held on OTW rather than Live.

Honestly surprised how the Engine upgrade was supposedly 90% done with all this stuff left to do. I'm happy about the news although I really hope the Engine upgrade is and stays the main focus for the team even if unexpected issues such as lately with Vivox appear.
-
Not sure how credible the stuff on there really is, sure it's datamined stuff but these characters look like they were very early in development and honestly don't exactly look all that impressive compared to the other "Boss Contacts" we've seen.
-
In yesterdays Blogpost they confirmed two new contacts, presumably one for Enforcer and one for Criminal so yes there will be new contacts eventually.

Dr. Borious's Snake Oil. The Fast and the Incarcerated. The Hidden Menace Creme De La Crime Antisocial Networking Bad Investment Bang for your Buck Caught Napping When it comes to endstages I'd say 2v2 VIP, 2v2 or even 3v3 3 Point hold and pretty much all of the Scavenger missions because they are all 4 to 5 minutes long which rarely provides a situation in which a comeback is possible.

Will we get some news on this any time soon?
Frosi replied to Keshi's topic in General Discussion Archive
oh Twitter? O.o sadly i dont use it but thx for the headsup -
August 9th is when they changed shotguns and they are still in an incredibly broken state to the point where the game is incredibly unenjoyable but they instead focused on making CJ work on burst rifles rather than fixing what is currently on the live servers. It is sad to say but balance and server wise the game is in a worse state than what it was before LO took over. I understand that they are learning and I seriously thank them for their efforts but I feel like their priorities are all over the place and the fact that shotguns haven't been nerfed even tho it was blatantly obvious that they are broken from patch day on is simply insane. I really want them to make a blog post and explain what is currently going on since at this point I don't think there is a way to tell anymore.

Please note that Cooldowns should probably be changed in the way of non-premium players having the same cooldown as premium players have right now. The other way around could be interesting but I'm not quite sure how it would play out to have insanely long cooldowns for all mods.
-
The standing bonus should also be added to the cash bonus once you're max rating, since you can no longer make use of it. You make more than enough money with premium, no need to increase that even more, not to mention that the prices for everything would skyrocket to compensate for the increase in rewards which will leave new players that aren't 255 yet even further behind everyone else.
