Hey I remember you, asking for this on the old forum years ago! Sucks that they never got around to it. Maybe Little Orbit will help out this time instead of it just getting ignored again. The engine upgrade doesn't seem to be myth anymore considering there's some community members currently testing it, so maybe it can be implemented after the upgrade?

Nekrova Migration Update
BrandonBranderson replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Well I mean... They can run into more than one problem in the process. They aren't limited to only one obstacle for something this complex. Matt has made it pretty clear that they're doing everything they can. Are you really satisfied with playing with the same 20 people every day? Jericho almost feels dead sometimes with roughly 200+ players. I can't even imagine 20. Edit: Great to hear you got a response Matt. -
Always Evolving youtube videos
BrandonBranderson replied to Zaan's topic in Fan Sites & Communities & Promotions
Aah I remember seeing the Hard Knock Life one a while ago. Love it. Holy crap STS is still alive. Edit: Is that video a reupload? If not then I might be thinking of a different one. Still great either way. -
8/10 Its got a great mid 80s to early 90s sound to it.

Only reason it was discontinued was to make people buy a bunch of them when G1 was low on cash, so it would be nice if they brought it back. G1 claimed it was to make room for new things, but did anyone really believe that?

Road Blocking as a Form of Griefing?
BrandonBranderson replied to magik's topic in General Discussion Archive
Technically, sure it can be considered griefing. However in actual gameplay it doesn't present any problems. If anything it's adding to the random spontaneous fun that APB has always been great for and makes it feel like the city is actually populated by other players. Makes a great spot for Vegas stunts too. Stuff like this would happen all the time during APB's prime and I kinda miss it actually. The only time when I would say to report it is when they're blocking an important spot like a garage with only one entrance or a mission objective. I would love it though if they reverted the Kolva to its original form where it actually had a bit of acceleration and suspension, and a good tbone from a t-25 could knock it over. -
How about a little love for the Montane? A more square 70s styled kit would be really nice. Plus a 4x4 version of this truck would just make sense. It's kinda weird having a FWD pickup truck.

I can't think of a BMW that looks like the Moirai at all. The Ravan already is AWD by the way, it just has shitty acceleration and a pretty low top speed. The cars he posted have the same basic shape and size of the Ravan. These kits would fit the Ravan's body shape the most. And a Moirai wagon would just look weird as hell in my opinion. It would be a very long car, not to mention more top heavy than the current Moirai, making it more prone to tipping over. People have been asking for kits for lower tier cars for years, and sure they wouldn't sell nearly as well as kits for the high tier cars. Good luck getting any kind wagon to compete with pretty much the fastest car in the game. (I know it has a lower top speed than the normal Vegas, but the faster acceleration and easier handling does more than just make up for it.) They need to do a whole vehicle rebalance in this game. There's just too much of a gap between the couple of cars that are useful, and the rest of the cars. One thing you also need to keep in mind is that it's a 4 seater. You can't have a car that can hold 4 people be able to reliably keep up with a two seated muscle car. That would be one of the reasons the Coywolf's speed is so much lower than the Vegas 4x4 despite having similar acceleration.

Uh, no? They're pretty much the same size. The Ravan doesn't look as long in that picture because of the angle. The Morai is a sedan, not a wagon, and we don't need a wagon version of the Morai. The Morai should be made AWD again like it originally was because that would fix the issue with its reverse gear.

I could see these becoming really nice kits for the Balkan Ravan if they were to rebalance this car to make it good. The Ravan pretty much looks like a mid 2000's precursor to both of the cars you linked.

If I remember correctly, I think the video you're referring to was of Zombie hitting the camera with a skateboard. I think I remember them saying it was originally meant to be used as a short cutscene to help you get to know the characters better. I could be way off on that though, it's been forever since I've seen it.

The RedHill Institute thread

Awesome, thanks for keeping us updated on this. Cool to see that DD is on the move again too. The idea of an unknown virus is interesting. I hope I don't catch it, I'd hate to experience the irregular menstruation. -
Intended, the recoil just broke your arm.

I also live near a place in the US called Redhill, and it's also just joined as one word. So I really don't think that it's supposed to be RHIOT or RHIT. -
Agreed, old cars have always been my favorite and I'd love to see some old styled kits added. I suggested a new Fresno kit but it derailed quickly in the 4 replies it got with everyone saying it looked like a Vegas, but the idea was to give the Fresno a sportier look. Maybe a bottom tier hatchback like the Varzuga could get an early 80s AMC Gremlin looking kit or something. 100% on board for the classic stingray kit for the Growl though.

Yeah, you would think that with their goal of "Cleaning up San Paro" they would be a bit more widespread with their advertising (or propaganda, depending on how you think it's going to turn out) I could see this turning out to be a project of Luke Waskawi or something. -
One of these? That would be awesome. Maybe it won't sound like a vacuum cleaner this time. Seriously though, how is the Growl's idle sound so badass, but once you start moving you it sounds so bad? I'm gonna chalk it up to limited resources on G1's part and assume they didn't have the equipment or money to go out and record a real one on a dyno, so they just recycled the sounds of other cars. You would think they would at least include a mixture of the Vegas' engine sound in that.

Holy shit, this is pretty cool. I love how they went the extra mile and made a website for it. It's also nice to see those Growl billboards go. In some spots up to around 5 of them could be seen in a single screenshot. -
The gunplay in APB is great in my opinion. It's nice and solid which is something you don't see in modern games anymore. They all have the same heavy, clunky movement with ridiculous amounts of camera shake and you're dead the moment an enemy sees you. I don't want APB to become that. Time to react is necessary in APB considering how long it can take to get back to the objective with the rather large open districts compared to a modern fps where you just respawn instantly in small arena styled maps. The current hitboxes are the way they are for balance so everyone is the same size. Imagine having to shoot about a foot above a min height female's head to get a headshot. I will say that I hate Qwentle's curve mechanics being added to old guns though. They just made the M-1922 useless and a lot of other guns annoying and inconsistent to use. Of course the engine upgrade isn't going to be enough to save the game, but it serves as the foundation for the real game-saving changes to be made.

So what happen to the CEO TechMech?
BrandonBranderson replied to LAPDAlonso's topic in General Discussion Archive
Tiggs has since left. They said that she was there to train new staff for a certain period of time. I think it was a month. It would be nice to see all those other names come back too though. I'm pretty sure Omochabox is busy nowadays. She pops in to the Pheonix discord server from time to time. Can't remember what she said she was doing though. Edit: Isn't MonteCristo the one who broke the graphics and made the game it's sad ugly self that it is now? Or am I thinking of someone else? -
fix your POS servers / change the hosting
BrandonBranderson replied to cheater's topic in General Discussion Archive
They should really look into some better server hosting because ever since the Softlayer servers were introduced, they've been nothing but trouble. They have never hit the performance mark that old G1 claimed they would, even when they were new, and have only gotten worse over time. That being said I don't know for sure if they are still on the Softlayer servers, just an assumption because the awful server performance has carried over from G1 to LO's G1. Not trying to shit talk LO or anything, they just inherited a big problem. -
8/10 Definitely not what I was expecting, sounded really nice.
