Halloween events start the morning of Oct 30 Pacific time
Hexerin replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
I'm actually genuinely surprised that Gamersfirst/Reloaded never tossed three slot OSMAW and OPGL on ARMAS. The fact that you can get Volcano and the EOLs negates any validity to argue against OSMAW/OPGL being on there, and you can be sure that they'd sell like hotcakes to veterans and newbies alike. I know I'd buy both, it'd be nice to always have them available without having to spend APB$ on them every week to maintain their leases. As for CCG... as much as I'd love them to add the LTL weapons to ARMAS (especially if they added three slot options), I honestly don't think they should do anything with LTL until they're ready to buckle down and completely overhaul the entire system. It isn't viable except against players that are of vastly inferior skill, and it feels terrible for the criminals when they get downed by it. -

Matt, you have a bad habit of not pinning important threads like this. I had to go digging through your post history to find this, and I was only aware of it because I saw you mention you posted it in another thread entirely. -
Gamersfirst/Reloaded at one point had a modeling dev. The dev added multiple new weapon-related animations, as they were adding weapons that needed new animations for our characters to use them correctly. Unfortunately, the dev was let go and future weapons were forced to use inferior options. Probably the perfect example of this is the PDW-57, which uses the bullpup underside reload animation despite the gun's magazine being on the top.

No sales until the ARMAS overhaul, this was already stated by @MattScott

A way to balance Stun/Arrest (It is op, accept it)
Hexerin replied to Julien's topic in General Discussion Archive
"Less than lethal is OP." There goes any credibility your post would have otherwise had. -
@MattScott You really need to stop listening to players when it comes to game balance, especially items that are part of the existing meta. The complaints you're getting about Improved Rifling are coming from people who have a biased and vested interest in seeing it remain in a place of having no real downside, because that caters to what they know and the meta as it's been stagnated for all these years. The reason you got all these complaints about the change is not because the change is bad (although honestly, 18% is probably a tad high for the firerate reduction), but because these people can no longer just slap the mod in a gun like the NTEC and use it in every situation with no downsides. In other words, they're panicking because they no longer have their "one size fits all" solution.

Due to the way the game is designed, it is not possible. The engine upgrade will not change this, either. It simply will never be an option in this game, get over it and move on.
-
Yes and yes, but I also don't take the game seriously anymore (haven't since a long time before I left during Gamersfirst/Reloaded days). As I've told you, repeatedly. Playing against me is barely a challenge due to this, and it brings me endless amusement how inflated people's egos get when they win against me.
-
There's a difference between playing against someone who's a little better than you are (which encourages personal skill growth) and being shitstomped by people with thousands of hours under their belt (which accomplishes nothing for anyone involved, except maybe the one doing the stomping if they're an asshat).

The fact that you're so fervently defending dethreating makes it abundantly clear that you're part of the problem. Either you're a dethreater yourself, or one your buddies is.

New Downside Suggestion For Improved Rifling
Hexerin replied to Weeb TheEpicGuyV2's topic in General Discussion Archive
Instead of looking at stats on a piece of paper and assuming that you understand how it works, go actually test it ingame. The effect is night and day. -
It's beyond easy to tell the difference between an unskilled player and a dethreater, that isn't a valid argument/excuse.
-
Accepting reports, and then actually taking action on them, would be a very effective method to stop dethreating if Little Orbit had the integrity to actually go through with it (it's an exceptionally rare trait nowadays, so it's unsurprising). It wouldn't stop everyone, but then actioning people for aimbotting or wallhacking would never stop everyone from cheating in those ways either. There's always those "people" that are so far gone that nothing can get through to them... and unfortunately that's simply because there's no real world repercussions for their actions.

As @ky4 stated, the upgrade to UE3.5 and matchmaking/threat changes will draw many players back. Especially if @MattScott pushes an advertisement campaign about it.

Sky too bright & shadows too dark.
Hexerin replied to MartisLTU's topic in General Discussion Archive
I've seen the screenshots/video of the PC version, and know the capabilities of UE. With a proper dev team and non-damaged leadership directing it, we won't see the shitshow that is the console releases on PC. -
Sky too bright & shadows too dark.
Hexerin replied to MartisLTU's topic in General Discussion Archive
All lighting issues in this game are a byproduct of it being on a beta version of UE3. There's nothing to fix on the player's end, it'll be resolved with the upgrade to UE3.5. -
Even if you hide threat level and remove district instance choice, it's still possible (and easy) to dethreat because it's an automated system.

Good drivers will always have their car prepped for this, especially with how easy it is to do once you're comfortable with your car's handling. It's not always an option, but in those cases it likely wouldn't have been worthwhile to set up anyways (example being dropping out to kill someone in the open street).

How about no. This isn't a Korean grindfest MMO, we don't need that tacky garbage here.
-
Still find it interesting that they went out to a gun range with recording equipment to record actual legitimate audio for all the guns that were in the game back then. It's a real shame that Gamersfirst/Reloaded changed all the audio to the generic synthesized stuff we have now...

What, were you expecting fairness in a contest? But no seriously, he points out a pretty glaring issue with this contest. Free players can't hope to hold even the slightest chance in this, and they're the ones that the rewards would actually matter for.

A (not so) serious problem with gas stations
Hexerin replied to IROCkiller's topic in General Discussion Archive
It's the resultant effect of economics in San Paro. When every random schmuck is making tens of thousands every day, the baseline cost of everything will rise. -
Could / Should the Retail Box be RE-introduced?
Hexerin replied to Nitronik's topic in General Discussion Archive
I'd be perfectly content if they simply added the ACT44 and Cisco to ARMAS, like was done for the primary weapons. For those curious about the ACT44: https://db.apbvault.net/items/Weapon_Pistol_ACT44-LS_PR1_RT -
Dude is so desperate to keep his slight P2W advantage, it's kinda pathetically sad.
