  1. You have to consistently score higher than the rest of the players in each mission. I think the threat system compares your threat to the other players threats as well. If you do good compared to lower threat players, your threat won't go up as much. If you do good against higher threat players, your threat will go up faster. Each threat level has a wide range of hidden values. Many years ago we used to have threat levels 1 to 10 for each threat. These values are still there but hidden. You can't tell how much of a threat difference there is between each player. You might have been Silver 8 and are now Silver 9 after that mission, but you can't see that change.
  2. It's the end users fault for everyone who has the invisible mission markers. I have never had it happen, so it must be their fault.
  3. I wouldn't refer to what windows 10 does as "run". More like walks with two canes with no legs, and is an alcoholic suffering from dementia. It can't remember any settings between updates. Always reverts stuff back to default. It wiped my user profile on multiple PCs. It's broken itself after an update. The stupid thing goes into sleep mode while in the middle of patching, breaking itself. I've imaged 1000s of PCs, and every time there's an update some of them fail at updating or simply break. All the same base image with minimal software differences. Same hardware. All the same group policy. I'd trust Windows ME over 10 for stability.
  4. I'll start! What's the point of having this test if you've disabled most features of the matchmaking system? This test can be done on a single workstation with 1 user. Load up multiple APB clients in virtual machines. The best results will be no different than when two gold groups keep getting each other over and over like they currently do on live.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give Nobara a try when the drive comes in. I forgot to mention my monitor. It's 1440 144hz. That can be a struggle for my GPU. In windows it's 30% worst case.
  6. Not without risking a ban. Technically you can run APB in a virtual machine. but it requires making the VM look like a physical machine to bypass EAC's VM detection. LO can allow virtual machines to be used, but that opens another security hole, not that there isn't a giant one already by not having server sided anti-cheat measures. I'm another Windows 7 user. Windows 7 was the last working OS from Microsoft. 8, 8.1, 10, all broke themselves during updates. Windows 11 looks like Mac but crashes like Windows ME.
  7. I'm a Linux noob. I just read the manual to get the OS up and running, X11. No, I haven't tried with the compositor turned off. I tried using Proton 8 (Steam's), GE-Proton 8-5, and GE-Proton 23. They all ran about the same, on the 525 Nvidia driver. GE-Proton 23 loaded on 535 Nvidia driver, but performance was still bad, if not worse. I overwrote the install with Windows 10 LTSC (year 2019 release) just to get APB working with the EAC update. I'll get another SSD and try it again. I'm not sure which distro to go with. Any suggestions? I have Mint in a virtual machine for testing, and I've used Ubuntu for work, but like I said very little experience overall. I like Kubuntu's layout, but the window icons were buggy. For example, Firefox would use the default min max close buttons, instead of the ones I set in the settings. I also didn't like having tons of default apps installed. On Windows, I get over 100fps average, usually over 150fps. Edge of the districts can get over 200fps if there's not a lot of players nearby. System Specs: CPU: Xeon W3680 Motherboard: Evga X58 SLI RAM: 12GB DDR3 2133Mhz (Can run 24GB 1866Mhz, if needed) GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Storage: - 480GB SSD Sata (OS) - 500GB SSD Sata (Scratch Disk) - 500GB SSD NVMe (Games)
  8. EDIT: Fixed the flickering by installing Nvidia driver version 525. Still have the fps stutters. The game randomly goes from 128 solid to 80fps or lower. It drops lower when moving the mouse, but I don't think the mouse movement is the cause. The fps drops when I move my mouse. Stays steady at 128fps if I don't provide any input. The screen constantly flickers. Other guides say to enable "Force Full Composition Pipeline" in Nvidia settings. This causes the audio and video to freeze when the game is in focus. Kubuntu 23.10 GE-Proton8-5 and Proton 8.0 (steam) Nvidia Driver 535.129.03
  9. For me in Asylum, it's the HUD that causes the fps drop. Turning off HUD makes it play way smoother, but obviously not playable since you can't tell who's a teammate and who's an enemy. Also, ironically when east was having the lag for everyone the last few days, I had perfect hitreg despite teleporting around.
  10. I liked the bounty feature when the final mission rewards were linked to your notoriety. Surviving with a bounty meant extra money and standing. G1 removed that feature, so it ended up being an annoyance with no rewards. Even then, I wouldn't have had an issue with it if enforcers and criminals levels increased at the same rate, and if it started at 3 or 4 star each mission instead of rolling over from previous missions.
  11. So, what parts of the roadmap have been started? Vehicle balance? Can't count the Epic Games integration since we have an old version of EAC.
  12. It's annoying when you get a lag spike and don't know if your key press registered. Sometimes the server itself gets confused and switches back to the previous weapon.
  13. They should ditch the current email system and have a separate database for Armas related unlocks. Add an option in the Armas store to resend items to a character.
  14. Car surfer should be removed. It allows players to use restricted weapons from a moving vehicle. There's balance reasons why you can't use an ALIG, DMR, and OSMAW out of the window of a vehicle. They even nerfed the hard damage on the N-ISSR-B because they realized it was too powerful when used leaning out of the window. I get the kill on the driver, and the driver gets a team kill. Does anything in this game work right?
  15. How about posting on your main account instead of an alt.
  16. And it's clearly a scam, tax evasion, or something borderline legal. The site only shows RTW content. They couldn't even use a screenshot or video from the last 10 years.
  17. Did you get banned and had to create another account? I won't say there aren't cheaters. There's some on Twitch that LO intentionally ignore, like the one who used to be named after a zombie survival game, or the one who's in game name is a spin off of Mr Beast's video intro. But, big but, the way threat is calculated causes players with a massive skill gap to be matched together frequently. Low to high gold is like brand new player to expert veteran. Mid bronze to mid silver is completely random. It comes down to what score bonuses the mission applies rather than skill. Green is harder to get than bronze, due to the anti dethreat mechanic that prevents threat from changing if your score is too low. There's also a massive difference in network performance between players, which can make some look like they're cheating. Some have perfect hitreg despite having 300ms living in Australia, while others with less than 20ms get no hitreg because their packets are being dropped somewhere inside LO's network. Generally I can 2 pump shotguns on EU with 90-300ms varying latency, but on US East it takes 3+ shots. On US West I'm better off trying to throw my car at them.
  18. I only found mediocre game development.
  19. I agree the current scout sucks, but I also think you're using it wrong. Bolt timer has been the same since release. The slight damage buff from 550 to 575 allows it to kill CA3 users if you miss your second shot but hit the third shot. It gives it a tiny bit more 2 shot range too.
  20. No no they're different. This time the CEO is a hipster instead of a horse.
  21. The N-HVR 243 had it's damage increased from 550 to 575, and linked the weapon switch delay to the bolt timer. Obir had it's range reduced from 60M to 55M, and also had the weapon switch delay linked to the bolt timer. The sprinting delay was done by G1. Not sure if that's relevant since that affected every slower rate of fire weapon. They're different class of weapons. Only reason the Obir is used more now is because Little Orbit nerfed the damage on the Obeya rifle. I can't tell if y'all are being sarcastic or not about Frosi. I hope it's sarcasm.
  22. Yes. Epinephrine turns you into Sonic on crack.
  23. That's the issue, you can't with short term data. However, it shouldn't be possible to move faster server sided. Character movement should be limited, but currently it's not.
