  1. It was way easier before to level up and make some $ when there were threat-based districts available. I personally know two people who got to R255 only by mugging and ram-raiding. Along with about 15 millions on average per month, that was a safe (yet tedious) and prosperous way to rank up.
  2. It is an unenviable position for Matt, to be frank. Posting something like "Hey, nothing major has been going on, bear with us. Thanks, bye." would result in a portion of the community saying "Yeah, thanks for nothing, why do you even bother posting something like this?" If he actually posts something regarding their progress, a portion of the community would, rightfully or not, discuss how slowly it goes, saying "They can't even get Social up and running!" and give their rather pessimistic predictions. On the other hand, if he chooses not to post anything, someone always makes a thread like this one. This is just an observation.
  3. As I have always been approachable and receptive, I do not know how you came up with the conclusion I am an intolerant person who is going to categorically reject someone's opinion. After reading the claim that there's a noticeable increase of blatant cheaters, I can just thank you for your time responding to my post, we clearly perceive things in different ways. It leads to irreconcilable difference, but at least we can both respect the other's point of view. I have stated previously there are some negative aspects of the segregation removal, but I can't escape the feeling Jericho feels more populated than before when there were "one active bronze district" (usually 25/25 or so), "and commonly a partially active silver district" (and sometimes no silver districts at all).
  4. Given the subject of the thread is Jericho's population, and taking into account it was a ghost town before the segregation change, I'd argue there was/is a significant difference between NA and EU servers.
  5. Since the threat removal took place, it happens on regular basis there's no free spot left in the action district on Jericho, that was an unimaginable thing before the said change. I understand two threat-based districts, bronze and silver, merged into one, but it feels more crowded and lively than before. Certainly, some negative aspects ensued, but overall it is a good change.
  6. Any history is commonly divided into periods, with shifts that signal the end of one period and the beginning of the next, that's not something related exclusively to Japan. While I understand the comparison you tried to make, I do not think the popularity of weapons caused those shifts. APB's, let's use this silly backronym - META has been the same for quite some time. People quit for various reasons, arguably the major factors are the lack of content in the already aged game, poor optimization and server performance and harsh community.
  7. It doesn't make much sense when I say I do not mind cheaters, because I should, I suppose we grew accustomed to facing them from time to time. However, I still find it fascinating that there are some (personally I know one) individuals cheating in an overt way for months, if not for years, and despite GMs being aware of it nothing is being done, no action to be taken. I am fairly certain the person in question has been reported for hundreds of times. It's almost incomprehensible that some people are still around.
  8. Actually, there was a discussion on this topic before here.
  9. I was playing APB for quite some time on a duo core laptop with an integrated graphic card (I believe it had 1GB of video memory) and 4GB of random access memory. With the right (potato) settings and Advanced Launcher, I had around 35-50 frames per second, although that value was oscillating, depending on what is going on the screen and areas I am in. I am clearly not a savvy (I can't even tell with great certainty what kind of computer I have now and what are its technical specifications), but from personal experience I know you can play the game on a low-end PC, however you can't expect much, certainly can't expect to thoroughly enjoy the gameplay. You will have to cope with the random freezes, stutters and occasional crashes if you want to play this game on an old machine, due its poor optimization. Personally, despite having a beast desktop computer, I still prefer playing on my laptop, I simply do not feel any difference between 60 and 144 frames per second.
  10. Perhaps this is just a fragment of a code, however looks more like a random set of 1's and 0's, I believe it's not some sort of a secret message or inside joke (sadly), just a graphic element incorporated into the jacket design, signifying Byron's role in Blood Roses. He's someone in charge of gathering and providing intel for the gang, one could say he's a computer whiz or a hacker.
  11. Finding all of the red pumpkins in both districts shouldn't take more than an hour, perhaps an hour and a half. Conveniently, they often share their location with some of the purple pumpkins, so you can get a fair share of those along the way, too. Apparently there are even some video guides online where to find the red pumpkins, given their location is always the same for all the players, in case you get stuck finding some of them. You can find both Financial and Waterfront maps here, disable all of the chat options except the system chat so you can easily track where next you should go. I'd highly recommend using a long range weapons, a sniper or rifle of your choice. Good luck~!
  12. Same goes for us who have GeForce 8800GT 512MB, since that's the recommended video card for the game and doesn't perform quite well.
  13. You should try updating your game client, that will most likely solve the issue.
  14. Speaking of the Pumpkin Hunting event, finding all of the orange pumpkins rewards us with various titles, but there's no mention what finding all of the purple and red ones grants us. Do the rewards differ this year from the previous ones?
  15. I am well aware of that. I was specifically referring to the new players when I said "someone who's relatively or completely new to the game".
  16. This is simply not in accordance with the facts. You can always find someone who's relatively or completely new to the game. Now, the question do they stay in San Paro and for how long is entirely a different matter.
  17. Nights in San Paro look more like late evenings to me, perhaps that's due my graphic settings. Anyway, I do not think it's possible to control the day/night cycle on our side, but I am clearly not a savvy, perhaps someone will come up with a constructive suggestion.
  18. I could be wrong, but altogether the population numbers are the same as before the segregation removal, if not even slightly increased. I don't think anything, population wise, will change soon.
  19. I would argue the removal of the (in)famous threat segregation had an imperceptible impact on the game population, more or less, the population numbers revolve around the same values as before the change. On average, there are about 100 players on Jericho (and goes up to 150 at best) and 400 players on Citadel (up to 450 at times). APB Watcher tends to give more accurate data, considering the fact many players do not use Steam. Normally, checking out the first few pinned topics and latest blog posts, along with the user made threads keeps you abreast of the game status. Additionally, despite being a small game, APB has a loyal streamer base, one can always check Twitch and see for themselves what the current situation is like, without even logging in.
  20. Pretty much so, some things never change, just like the implacable APB community.
  21. I must admit that, until today, I was convinced schadenfreude is a German word with no one-word English equivalent, but I was wrong, the English word for schadenfreude is epicaricacy. We learn something new every day.
