  1. I doubt there's anything official behind it at all, too. I don't have a clear memory of it either. I do remember this has been discussed and speculated though, so hearing something official on this would be great. Still, my bad.
  2. While the initial intention was for the game to be APB but on UE4, it first got pushed back to be more like a successor to APB, hence APB2. Like a new game in the same series.
  3. APB 2.1 on 3.5 is the game client version. It's not a brand new IP. APB2 which isn't nearly far enough to be worth of any speculation anyways would be a brand new IP in the series... if it ever manages to reach that status. I don't believe in an APB 2 on UE4 until I see it. LO isn't Reloaded, but I still haven't forgotten APB Vendetta. Only LO can really clear up whether we'll ever see an "APB2" on UE4 or not, so let's not fall back to groundless speculating like we did back in Reloaded. The outlook for it doesn't seem very positive, so I'm not going to hold my breath until LO says black on white it's going to happen. Whether APB2.1 runs on deprecated tech or not is something we'll have to see or hear from the devs. An old engine isn't per say a bad Engine.
  4. Loyalty rewards. The rates on the gold boxes seem a lot higher than the normal boxes, too.
  5. I don't know how long it exactly took for LO to prepare that whole takeover, but before LO stepped in Reloaded was silent on every front for about 2 years straight. The policy of, from how I experienced it at least, to keep things silent and leave everything to the community to speculate about wasn't a great policy. I think Ketog is more talking about future plans. The moment we heard about Riot to bring up his example was when it was already being worked on. The Engine Upgrade and Customer Support tracking are good. A very necessary change in policy from what Reloaded has been keeping prior to LO times, and you see it back in your posts' reactions. We're grateful for it, but that alone wouldn't be enough to save this game. Lixil was a decent GM. I wish we heard more from her, but I can't say she was bad. Sakebee has been alright too, but to me it still looks like you're the main spokesperson here. Maybe it's because what you post is so critical and important to this game and its players, while events we're hearing from from Sakebee are more to keep us busy until the cards come down. Despite the effort I still think there's too much of a wall between developer and community. There's a CM posting events and a CEO tracking UE3.5 and CS progress... but what's beyond that? Other than sometimes GMs answering questions in Social or hanging out at a car club, there's no real interaction going on with the community, unless it's a constructive and someone critical post like Ketog's. At the same time, I feel like this lack of interaction is a two headed monster. It can't say the effect of keeping the playerbase at an arm's length while keeping them up to date with important information has worked out positively sofar. By that same token, that makes a GM showing themselves or even more than that, Sakebee log into the game even to randomly say hi such a big deal, which in turn makes dealing with that like a minefield. I think a possible solution that's somewhat unorthodox but quite underused or half-assed in games like this is to bring players into this. Not just streamers or SPCT, but less known people, too. Reloaded had a couple initiatives such as SPCM but they never did anything with those ideas. They just remained ideas for the most part. You showing your identity up front has done nothing but good to this playerbase. It showed us there was finally someone who truly had the best intentions and a will to carry them out. I get that the Engine Upgrade is priority number 1 right now, and from the last couple posts it looks like the end of the tunnel is nearby for that. However... I've posted it a couple times before, but I'm curious what LO plans to do with this game, its setting, its theme. I'm not just talking about matchmaking, phasing or anything. I wish this game could be more immersive instead of competitive if anything. I honestly would prefer if you wouldn't make the characters be brighter than the rest of the world, for example. It would make the game feel ugly and it would feel like the characters just look out of place. Now that the Engine Upgrade is nearby though, it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to propose some ideas for what comes after. Beyond Lucas van Rooijen and Lynette Casey I mean. Just thinking of this game's setting I can think of thousands of things that could be interesting, and if done right would make this game so much more than it is now. I'm looking forward to what you have envisioned for this game though. If there's one game that has things like future planning and communicating such done right it has to be Phantasy Star. Every month they do a 2 hour long stream in which they announce all the new stuff to come to the game. From the core of the gameplay, to the cosmetics, to QoL improvements, to literally everything else related to the game outside of the game's client. Definitely makes me wish this game had something like that, but before APB can get to such a point it would need a pipeline to create new content worth announcing. And more players, ofcourse.
  6. Had I read this post before I would've said something different in my previous post. It takes an exceptionally strong stance and a long term vision of a couple years ahead to make such changes, although they are a necessity in this game and have been for a couple years. So yeah. I'll second you on that big RIP. Combat improvements as you rank up in a competitive shooter would make sense if the shooter leans more to the MMO concept, eg. Locking certain types of combat in certain instances, or for more immersion, even regions/maps. I always thought it's smart that as a newbie you're thrown with the sharks. The 2 maps we have now for missions are getting boring too. APB would've been great had it leaned more on the MMO side. You'd need quite a lot more maps though, if you want a nice and immersive MMO.
  7. If we start accepting that vital parts of this game will never see the light it deserves to get we might as well start shutting down the servers.
  8. "but... but... then i can't report players for dethreating !!!! :C" LO should just do what LO sees fit. Following this forum is going to be keep APB from becoming a modern shooter that goes with the times and ends up being a thriving installment in the shooter genre.
  9. I wonder if anyone has ever tried to combine these 2 so players hear the split second WOOP WOOP and expect to die. I imagine their sheer surprise of being still alive after that leaves them vulnerable for long enough.
  10. I hope this time's in a few months really means in a few months. Looking at the EU progress thread I pray the devs don't bump into another bug that breaks a whole month of progress. After the EU is out, I hope LO is going to be thorough in their execution of changing player and threat distribution and do more than just the addition of phasing.
  11. We've been saying "in a few months" for over a year now. It's getting old. Even Citadel doesn't reach 4 digits of world /pop anymore.
  12. The Netherlands is going to take a similar approach to the UK. They intend to strategically infect certain parts of the population, bit by bit that can handle the virus while developing a vaccine/cure. I wonder how things are going to turn out, since I feel like the entire EU's response to this virus outbreak has been nothing but incompetent. Locking down The Netherlands can be done 3 weeks tops, any longer and certain sectors will collapse. Still, at the same time they locked down the country here for those 3 weeks. I kinda want a Scenario 2. This Corona virus and how everyone reacts to it would be a good wake-up call to start doing things differently in the economy. Change things up, so our economy and way of life in the west are more sustainable long-term.
  13. The Strife has plenty of mechanics in place to prevent it from being used in some lame cheesy combination Relies on an X amount of pellets to land to be fully effective Decently long draw animation Decently long refire delay Bolt timer to prevent you from reverse-quickswitching I guess the only option really to play lame with it is by using percs. Meanwhile the PIG doesn't have these limitations, and the few it does have are only to a limited extent. The Strife is much fairer balanced than a PIG. Also, since the Strife is a primary you at least have some level of expectation that they might Strife perc. Any lame combo with a PIG though? No idea of knowing until you actually face it - secondaries aren't displayed on the scoreboard. Anything with more damage (either soft or stamina) than the HVR is questionable, but at least the Strife has enough downsides. Most people that own the gun find the gun just clunky for a shotgun and would rather just JG or CSG. Stabba though? High chance the secondary is a PIG. Whether you find those downsides are true or not on a technical point of view doesn't really matter here. Strife users are far less obnoxious than PIGs. At least, on EU. If NA is different then that's another reason to avoid that server like the plague.
  14. Someone making sense? On this forum? No way! Because people still tie the flag to the iconic car. The media hype hasn't broken that bond the way Nazi Germany broke the bond between the swastika and several religions using the symbol.
  15. It's a bit sad how everyone points towards percs or anything except the PIG while forgetting a single hit does 95% stamina damage. The limited range doesn't really justify this. PIG perc is one example, but people here forget that CSG + Pig used to be an decent combo as well, mainly because people wouldn't know a CSG user would use a PIG as secondary - they have no idea of seeing this until they face it. The Stabba PIG is probably one of the lowest effort weapons the game has really. You can't go ham fighting 3-4 man in a row with it in a short period of time, but in 1v1s or 2v2s it's really a nobrainer. People want the HVR's damage lowered, because the HVR's damage is a serious balancing issue (1 shot of most other weapons after it and you're dead, so you're out for 10-16 seconds)? If you get hit by a PIG you barely even stub your toe and you're out for an even longer time. It's a justifiable comparison, too, despite their difference in intended use, due to the issue these 2 weapons share.
  16. If their only use is to restock grenades for an infinite barrage of them, then those ammo boxes were flawed from the start.
  17. They could also add debundled clothing items and some interesting rare/nearly extinct items to them.
  18. That means the patch notes are wrong though, then. Then again, these JMBs are not really making this patch really compelling or exciting. So it's only a tiny mistake!
  19. The NTEC is perfect, probably one of my favorite guns in shooting games ever. It's the other weapons that just suck.
  20. If even support refuses to give back your account, you could always try to talk it out with MattScott. I'm not going to judge like half this thread. I don't know what happened.
  21. If that screenshot is representative of the game in 3.5 as we're going to get it I might just need Reshade to do the exact opposite of what I'm using it now for. To decrease contrast, instead of increase it.
