  1. The thing with quickswitching is not about whether it takes skill or not. It's about a mechanic that completely bypasses the intended shortcomings of a sniper rifle. When players find ways and quirks for certain things in games it can be good and bad. In my opinion the hvr quickswitch falls in the latter category.
  2. While I agree that macro software is technically a third party tool, keep in mind that alot of the marksman players have used the weapons for hundreds or thousands of hours, allowing them to adjust the fire rate in fights in ways that can't be matched by any macro. You don't always want max fire rate.
  3. There were a few individuals who abused their SPCM status resulting in us losing access to bronze districts. Please don't lump all of us in the same boat, we just had some bad apples. As for the mentor idea. The Volunteer GM program is currently in the making and should hopefully help out alot. However having new players be taught primarily by GMs isn't an effective long term solution. Neither do I believe we need a major revamp on the tutorial. It could need some minor tweaks but the biggest priority is creating an environment where new players can learn and become willing to learn. With a better threat system and matchmaker, there should be districts where new players can thrive and learn themselves, which grants a much more natural and enjoyable learning curve. The Volunteer GMs/Normal GMs can answer any additional questions players might have.
  4. HS3 and CJ3 on a maniac? Try RS1, Mob Sling and EM3, that rocks (credit to PrincessLuna for telling me about that setup). Becomes a CQC Atac but better. On topic: 0 score means 0 rewards, no need to sugarcoat things. If threat isn't changed with a score of 0 then afk de-threating is impossible anyway.
  5. In general the only way to deal with good players is to improve yourself, however this game can be heavily abused when you play in a group. A stack of 4 that plays really nasty will abuse two main strategies: - Heavy cars: These things are incredibly imbalanced when used correctly. What you do is drive up to someone, preferably when he doesn't have cover and then make sure to jump out of your car on the opposite side, this will result in you having around 75% of your hitbox covered by your hunk of metal but you can still easily shoot over it. Unless you mess up really bad by aiming like a fruit or accidently getting out on the wrong side leaving you open, this will almost always result in a kill for you. Do it with more than one player in the car for extra effect. - The spawn system: The veterans know the general spawn locations on the map without even really thinking about it, it just comes from experience. This means that they can predict where you will spawn rather efficiently. Add onto that the fact that most people tend to spawn the closest to the objective, they can just use the heavy car strat I just mentioned to completely roll you over and over. I'm sure you've experienced a mission like that countless times. So what is the counter? There is no direct counter sadly, but there's a couple things you can do: - Prevent them from splitting you up: By making sure that all of your team spawns together and/or is in close proximity of each other, you can prevent them from just jumping one of you over and over. Admittedly this is rather hard in public matchmaking, but it allows you to ambush them and potentially stop their momentum. - Force them out of their comfortzone: Now this is what I generally find to be the most effective. Alot of these people need their cars as crutches and will often just sit in their cars if they can't rush you with it, until they find an opportunity to do it. This allows you to bait them into making a mistake. You can lure them out of position and then nuke the car with your friends or trick them into getting out and then kill them together. Or you could allow a teammate to ninja the point, it all depends on the situation really. Now there is more stuff, car spawns, radar towers, spotter, 3rd person camera, corner popping to name a few, but I don't wanna make this even longer. Overall you will have some really frustrating games where the enemy abuses all sort of stuff and if they're good players too, it becomes almost impossible to win unless you have a 4 stack too. The best tip I can give you is to just forget about the win. Winning in APB really only adds 600 score, which is nothing. So next time you get rolled by some sweatlords, just try to play for yourself instead.
  6. Looking forward towards the new infrastructure, especially server side. Ignoring the current meltdowns, the game has always felt a little off when it comes to server performance.
  7. I'd rather the applicants get approved based on competence and not popularity. If you can have both, that's great. As an ex-SPCM I can tell you that this new program has the advantage of less negative stigma in the air. It was hard to get taken seriously as an SPCM by anything other than newer players and in my experience the frustration was taken out on me and most likely other SPCMs, since we had a "connection" to G1. I was either spammed with troll questions to waste my time or just straight up harassed multiple times. The SPCMs I worked with were all very commited but I think over time this sort of stuff really demotivated us. However, this new program is coming from LO which has already done good for the community and keeps hope growing. With this new atmosphere surrounding the game I believe I can reach alot more players more effectively, which is why I applied.
  8. Alright, so I can see the same problem that Kemp and I faced last time. People are upset because they can't use their normal loadouts. I just wanna make clear that the original ruleset we've made some time ago wasn't just us banning everything we dislike. It took hours of discussing every possible weapon and gear combination as well as consulting a vast amount of players to make these restrictions. You don't have to agree with the result, but don't come here to post useless garbage please. APB has a alot of imbalanced things, not just weapons may I add. However not everything is banned, the OSCAR as a weapon example. If LO delivers on that competitive mode they've talked about, I'm sure there will be changes made. However, until that happens the community has to ban things themselves. We thought this ruleset is fair and not too restricting and SKay has re-used/tweaked it to give competitive APB another shot , if you do not agree you don't have to play, if you want different rules, feel free to make your own tournament.
  9. A bit of a stretch sure, but I don't think that should be the focus of the discussion.
  10. The past doesn't excuse the present though. What we have right now is unacceptable performance for an online game. I very much appreciate the work LO has done sofar, but on server issues we've been mostly left in the dark.
  11. Constant warping and periodic freezes where no one can do anything is not borderline unplayable to you? Interesting.
  12. Hello, could we have an update from the last forum post about fixing the lag? I don't know much about Citadel but Jericho has been in a state of constant lag for about 3 weeks. Right now we're at a point where it's starting to become borderline unplayable. Kind Regards, Vanille
  13. In the voip settings you can untick "join channel if available" for teamcheat, that should do the trick
  14. Scroll wheel shooting might seem OP until you consider scenarios where a max ROF isn't what you want. Trying to shoot slower with the wheel is really incosistent and will cost you some kills.
  15. Battle eye blocks alienware files and will not let you launch the game. See here: https://puu.sh/ABsaF/3c193f98ab.png These can be on your PC because of the Alienware Command center or other software. Solution: Step 1: Uninstall the program/software that uses Alienware, Alienlabs or AlienFX. For me it was my roccat kone xtd mouse software. Step 2: Delete the Alienware,AlienFX and Alienlabs .core folders associated with the program, it should be in: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL Battle Eye will show you the path to the blocked files too, so go there if they're not where mine were.(ändrad) That will allow you to boot into the game again.
  16. I have the exact same issue, same blocked files too there are people playing the game right now
  17. Hello, I currently have an issue where the game refuses to start after the little BattleEye launcher window. Reopening the launcher always makes the install battle eye window re-appear. Reinstalling the game allows me to get in, but when I join a district I get kicked for having an outdated version of Battle Eye. After that kick, when I reopen the launcher the game won't start again. Repairing does nothing either.
  18. Guys, there can't be any cheaters if no one can access the game. Just think.
  19. ALIG for sure, it's not underrated for vehicle killing but it also slaugthers players. I think it keeps its min ttk up to 75m. You can 5 shot people rather easily if you get used to the spread/recoil.
  20. Trainee characters are locked to Fight Club and Open Conflict districts. They do not affect the threat of other players in any way. Actual de-threaters are the real problem.
  21. As stated before, I highly suggest not having the games go live until the Battle Eye patch is out. It would suck to have cheaters win the tourney (not saying BE will make that impossible) and it'd be even worse if you give away stuff (out of your own pocket afaik) to people who might get slammed by BattleEye. Otherwise I'm glad the ruleset we've made might be useful after that last flop. I will support you in any way, feel free to ask. I don't know how much time I'll have though since I have to move by the end of the month and I haven't found a new place yet.
  22. I had installed the "fix" a week ago for the first time since 2012, I didn't notice any difference. Now with the BE announcement I play on a fresh install for safety and I still don't notice anything missing. I'm fairly certain it does nothing.
  23. Looking forward to the new volunteer programs. I'll definitely try my chance again, considering SPCM was sort of lackluster.
