[Showcase] Musician Thread
BrandonBranderson replied to Cormacnoah's topic in Breakwater Galleria (Creations/Fan Art)
Here's one I started recently. Not finished yet as you can tell from the abrupt ending, but it's what I have so far. Planning on completely redoing the guitar of the last section because it ended up just sounding like noise. It also exported pretty quietly so you'll probably have to turn your volume up to hear it. It was meant to have a kinda "Boss Fight-ish" feel to it. Also going to dial back the guitar a bit since they were mixed waaay too loudly compared to everything else. -
Buying new slots for cars, instead of new cars.

Yes please! -
Nice looking Calabria, but it would have been nice if it was a car that would have been useful to any player, and not just a newbie. Something easy to drive, but has decent speed like the Cisco or something. Either way the design looks really nice. Also glad to see you guys doing partnerships and promotional stuff! Any chance of AlienFX coming back? I miss my flashies. (For anyone that doesn't know, the option for AlienFX is still there, but it was disabled due to BattleEye conflicts)

That's nothing like what my character's lips look like though and the mask's skin tone is more pale. Do you know for sure how old that picture is? It might have been something that was broken recently. It looks like a shrunk down duplicate of the mask's mouth to me, shrunk more vertically than horizontally.

Pretty much everything the ice bear above me said. And I'd like to clear up something before you get it burned into your brain that this game has a deep rooted infestation. Cheaters exist, yes. BUT with the way APB handles, you can do things on a normal basis that look like things only a cheater would do in any other game. For example, the 3rd person free look camera. Someone could have their back to you, then immediately snap to you when you get near them, that is most of the time due to the character giving no indication as to where the camera is really looking unless they are in Marksman mode (right mouse button), and they were already aiming at you before they fired. Same goes for peeking around corners. You can look around corners easily without exposing yourself at all because of the offset of the camera. That being said, cheaters are still here, but they were a much MUCH bigger problem before BattleEye was implemented a few months ago. Also this community is very paranoid when it comes to cheaters. But like Polar said, there are plenty of us that would be happy to answer any questions you have about the game. There's no dumb questions when it comes to this game because... Well... APB is weird in a lot of ways compared to other games. Some guns have weird shooting mechanics, while others are completely standard, some vehicles have strange quirks or abilities. Others are just boring as hell to drive. (I'm classifying the Vegas's ability to make a stunt ramp out of any vehicle smaller than a dump truck as an ability, while a strange quirk would be the Growl's steering/speed mechanics or how the Morai just does not have a functioning reverse gear. Or even just weird bugs like how the Jericho and Bishada will almost always flip over if you give one of their rear wheels a little rub.) Anyway, I hope you get the hang of APB soon! One of the game's biggest problems is new player retention rate because of how difficult it is for a newbie to get started. Beat the shit out of that learning curve.

He doesn't have any authority though, he just tests upcoming content because he can give constructive criticism. The 3rd line is just the pot calling the kettle black. Like 90% of the time I have no freakin' idea what the hell you're talking about. Have you taken any significant hits to the head in the past couple of months? Have you checked for a gas leak?

[NEW][QUEQUE SYSTEM] important suggestion [DISTRICT]
BrandonBranderson replied to I3ETA's topic in Game
He did say that they're working on this. The Engine Upgrade needs to happen for this to be possible if I remember correctly. -
I'm 100% in favor of a looping pig squeal.

This would be really nice. /danceballet with a continuous looping spin please.

Always loved that video for some reason. Could be neat, It might negatively impact certain missions though. Mainly the one where you have to play keep-away with the armored van as a final stage. While you're at it, since the old armored van model was recycled and eventually became the ambulance, how about letting you hang out of that one too?

Did you read anything or just look at the pictures? I don't blame you if you didn't read it, that's a lot of text just for a kit suggestion. The car looks more like a Vegas from the side sure, but it's under the same classification as the Fresno. It's a big heavy wide luxury car with very soft suspension, also known as a Floater. It's by no means a performance focused muscle car like the Vegas. Could we please keep this thread limited to Fresno suggestions? Sure the T-25 needs kits too, but please start another thread for that. My reason for suggesting the Toro is that it doesn't look all that much like the Fresno while still being in the same classification, to add variety to what the Fresno can look like other than just the paint job and a supercharger. I want it to be possible for the Fresno to look a little sporty, which the roof of the Toro would definitely help with. The Toro does look more like a Vegas from the side, but I suggested changes to the Toro's body shape below the pictures like extending the trunk to match the Fresno's proportions and moving the rear axle back so the wheel base matches up. It's already wide enough.

I know I know, engine upgrade is more important bla bla bla. This suggestion is for a new kit to be made at some point, not to take priority over the engine upgrade, so please none of this "Engine upgrade is more important" "I'd rather see them finish the engine upgrade" that I see in every suggestion thread. The Fresno is a little limited when it comes to customization for as good of a car as it is. I would love to see some more kits for it eventually. Maybe take some inspiration from some other floaters of the time, preferably ones that look quite a bit different from the Fresno, but keep the same width and length to add variety. The Fastline kit is nice n' all and I love it, but the one thing I never really liked about it is that it doesn't really transform the Fresno like kits for other cars do. For example, the Jericho which is based on a Mustang has the Phantom kit that makes it look like a Camaro. The Vegas has the Rhino kit that makes it look like a 71' Barracuda, or the Firehawk kit that makes it look more like a modern Challenger. Each of those kits making the vehicle look like a totally different car. So for the Fresno, maybe something based on an Oldsmobile Toronado, or another car from the era that doesn't look exactly like the Fresno. Toronado: I realize it isn't quite long enough as-is, but if the trunk were extended and the rear axle was moved more toward the rear I think it could fit the Fresno's dimensions. It's hard to tell from the pictures but there's a small fin on each side of the trunk to give it a less sloped appearance. The main features I would want from the Toro to be incorporated into a Fresno kit would be the front end, and the roof to give it a more sporty look. The picture I chose of the front really isn't the best one I could have gotten since the front valence panel/bumper is missing, but it doesn't really look too different with it attached anyway. Tbh I didn't even know this car existed until about a month ago and I just thought it looked really unique and figured I'd suggest it as a possible kit since the Fresno needs some love. If anyone else has suggestions for Fresno kits I'd love to hear them.

If you don't provide the source then you have no credibility. Matt never promised an update by the end of 2018. Multiple people have been telling you that for over a week, so maybe you should listen. The PC engine upgrade needs to happen first so they can get the two versions unified and they'll be able to work on them both simultaneously. Once that happens you guys will get all of the same features the PC version has like the music editor, themes, day/night cycle, etc. Don't you want that? Or do you just want more half assed updates like the ones you got from G1 since that clearly unfinished pile was released on consoles?

Will APB ever be what RTW intended it to be?
BrandonBranderson replied to myrothas's topic in General Discussion Archive
The Enforcer social district was never finished. I think it was Matt that said he found the files for the ESD and that it wasn't really salvageable. While ripping models from a RTW beta copy of the game for a VRChat map I'm putting together I found some of the assets from the ESD. Nothing really significant, mostly just a network of wires that would be on the telephone lines and running along the ground all as a single model, little pieces of a garage, mainly just the ceiling, a big@$$ satellite dish, some DJ equipment that was also used in Asylum, a dance floor, and a bar that looked more like it belonged in a cafeteria. So at least as far as what's in the RTW 0.6 Beta's files go, there's barely anything that exists of the ESD that would point to what it would really look like. I'm sure there's some assets I wasn't able to open like map geometry and stuff that Matt would have access to, but that's really all I could find in terms of props for the ESD. There's some old pictures that have circulated around of a street with a giant satellite dish matching the one I found, and a picture that looks like a checkpoint on a bridge, that are said to be of either ESD or Midtown. Judging by the satellite and that the map looks like an HQ, I'm assuming its ESD. Either way it's still a very cool looking district and I'd love to see what all truly exists of it in an editor. -
I don't think its possible to be as bad as GamersFirst considering they left us on PC without a real update for years (not including events) with absolute silence and they rushed out your console version in an extremely unfinished state. Are you aware of LO's roadmap? First of all they didn't promise the update by the end of the year, Matt said he wanted it to be done by then, but then events and stuff got in the way. Secondly, the PC version needs to be updated to the same codebase as the console version if they're going to make any real meaningful changes to either platform. The PC version being updated means that you guys will be getting the features we already have on PC. You'll be getting the music editor and I'm pretty sure you'll finally have a day/night cycle too. The PC version needs to be fixed first so then they won't have to develop two separate versions of the game. I get where you're coming from though, the console version is in dire need of some fixes and performance tuning, and LO hasn't delivered on your platform yet, but they have been like god's gift on PC after what G1 put us through. I urge you to check out their "State of the game 2018" post. It highlights what they've done over the past 7 months and what their current plans for Q1 2019 are. Oh jesus I was way off then lol. A lot of those guns hadn't even crossed my mind. I think in my head the STAC 10 was just being grouped with the Joker SR15 since it is just a reskin, and I nearly forgot the SBSR guns existed.

Will APB ever be what RTW intended it to be?
BrandonBranderson replied to myrothas's topic in General Discussion Archive
From the old version of Social: There used to be a theater in Social before it was replaced with the Joker store. It wasn't functional yet, but if I remember correctly I think I read in a document from a former RTW dev that the idea was pitched to have player made videos running in there. Remember that this was all in a time before the only APB videos being made were kill montages over laced with filters and "Why APB Failed" videos, and when there was a video recorder built into the game itself. -
There's really only a few guns in game from the manufacturer 'Somatic'. The STAR and the S-AS PDW are the only two. They have some equipment too, but that's about all there is from Somatic. I just like the really sleek, somewhat futuristic look of them and would love to see more guns from that manufacturer in the future. The brand was much more prominent in Crackdown, serving as the agency's main weapon manufacturer.

State of the Game: APB 2018
BrandonBranderson replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Sounds like you're working off of some really old information there. It was originally going to be an APB remake, but quite a while ago it was decided that it's going to be its own game. Matt and Lixil have since talked to the team directly on Discord and they are on good terms with each other. I think they mainly wanted to make sure they weren't using any stolen assets anymore and everything was good after that was confirmed and a friendly conversation about the future of both games followed. -
That would be pretty sweet actually. But at first I took the title as Primary Weapon: Backpack, as in the backpack is a primary weapon.

He told you why. You just ignored it and said "Yes ...and?". He said that LO themselves said balance is a priority after 3.5. 4.0 is a long ways away. Like a really long ways away. They are rewriting the entire game for 4.0. The misinformation you gave is the idea that changing anything about vehicles would cause a whole mess of bugs, and that it can only be done successfully with 4.0, which isn't true. They might even be able change them just fine now without running into too many issues, though there is always the possibility of something breaking. We just don't know. Saying we just don't know is better than saying something that might not be true.
