The lack of PvP was also one of the reasons FE got empty....

 

The games interest came from the mix of PvP and PvE, both had their upsides and if you never got to grips with PvP you missed out on a big part of the game, especially with how PvP used to synch with the whole faction idea and bonus'.  Also the PvP areas are a small % of total map areas and quite well marked on the map, easy to avoid if you want to, and contain nothing that cant be obtained in some form or amount elsewhere (used to make a fortune from Hollister merchant back in the day tho!).

 

PvP was also integral in the basic economy idea, crafters make and PvPrs supply the mats found in the PvP zone through trade.

You mean rest of empty map areas with basic material nodes, right? 

All you need is one map exclusive to pvp faction vs faction, ditch DT currency (so you could buy mats at the auction house from pve players), using same currency as everyone else)), have pvp exclusive rank system, have gear with pvp exclusive stats, which can be bought for gold ( "pvp ranked", so non pvp players won't be able to buy unless they rank-up in pvp), have exclusive pvp reward system which will not effect pve in any way, all materials which needed for pve should be obtainable in pve and not behind pvp

All the stuff you need for PvE is available without going into PvP zones, either solo or with pairs/small teams who know what they are doing and a few heals on each other there is no mission or boss you cant do in FE with standard crafted equipment and the right combination of food/drink/science/trinket/faction buffs, the high end equipment that is only got in Dome or with DT is just needed for Dome or PvP.  Other than GORE, Dome and Outpost the PvE has remained the same since well before coresuits or GT suits were even ingame and volatile weapons were top tier.

There is no need for pvp areas to hold pve mats and pvp areas in general, all you need is one map for faction vs faction pvp, similar to eso, then both pve players and pvp players could share same server.

Not true after the random node spawn change. Plenty of mid-high tier crafting recipes required rare materials that are practically impossible to find outside pvp zones due to their randomized & very low spawn chance. You can go in pvp zones and get them in half an hour at fixed locations since the node change didn't affect the pvp zones (or use those boring time-consuming non-reusable harvesters) or spend a month looking for the same amount outside pvp zones relying on random luck to run into these rare material nodes. The massive overworld is littered with way too many basic nodes, making hunting down semi-rare and rare mats a nightmare. This game's enormous land area (which attracts many new players) is wasted, no reason to travel and explore it since you know you're going to find basic copper, iron, vegetable and wood everywhere. No variation.

 

What I had to resort to as an explorer/crafter/quest player was waking up during ungodly odd hours, like 4am, and enter pvp zones to get the mats I needed since I knew these zones would be practically empty on a global scale, since people are either asleep or about to go to bed. If there was a different fun efficient way for me to get these mats myself, I would have.  But there wasn't.

 

I had 4 different toons, each in different PVE clans. Combined, all these clans were ~200 players.  Considering the small niche size of FE's playerbase, that is a significant amount of people. All those PVE players left permanently in the month that GORE came out, The gap they left behind was VERY noticeable by all.  So much that some pvp tryhards who would regularly ridicule them that "pve ain't worth it" suddenly changed their tune that PVE needed to be fixed to get these players back. G1 made it clear they didn't give a damn about them since PVE was left to rot with its terrible reward system and no proper update and bugs and issues that have been around waaaay too long have never been addressed. 

 

Also, I made a 5th toon to prove that never going in pvp zones will result in that toon being underleveled at the end of Kaibab forest.

If you do EVERY quest per zone (including the oddly placed PVE quests in pvp zones, go figure) before moving to the next zones, you will finish Kaibab forest with well over the required level to do quests in Deadfall.  If you skip all pvp zones, you will be underlevelled and can't do quests in Deadfall, so you're forced to waste away at Defense towns for hours to level up instead.  Fuuuuun /s.

 

tl;dr  FE got empty because it didn't feel rewarding for the time the player was expected to invest in it after all the unwanted nerfs and neglect. People simply tolerated all this hoping it was going to be fixed one day.....  until their patience finally ran out after the GORE debacle. 

 

Cripes, I remember there was a time it was "positive" on Steam years ago.  Today it is now "mostly negative".   FALLEN Earth... what an understatement. 😖

This is sad news indeed, although I've barely moved from the comfy /sleep spot on the roof of my truck in Embry since being stricken with the green curse by mommy Crood way back when. It's been fun logging in to field the odd demand for answers from the wiki by those who refuse to look for themselves, instead of playing.

 

Thanks for all the time and effort to revive the old girl @MattScott, there are many of us who will miss her, until she rises again from the ashes of the nearest LifeNet pod to run amok in the wasteland we've called home.

 

Good luck with the rebuild and please do get in touch if you need someone who knows too much. Six...

They have roughly ONE person working on Fallen Earth, and that was before they announced the shutdown of the server. Chances are you will never see Fallen Earth again

Doesnt really need a source, LO only have 4 games now, with their original 3 (just 3, so staff will be minimal) being nothing like FE or APB (so little inhouse skill to draw on), and seeing as how APB has (as always) taken priority they wont have any staff or cash to spare until APB makes money, APB wont cause it never has, and the whole project will be shelved.

 

I also think FE scared them, judging by the difficulties they had just moving the server they realised just how old, how specialist and how patched the whole thing is, in IT terms its prob so badly out of date its like giving someone fresh from college who can word process a mechanical typewriter and asking for a finished book by end of the day.

 

Having said all that, i would love to be wrong, hope dies last.

So in other words....assumptions.

Ok that's fine too.

But people need to understand that assumptions even if they come true does not equal truth.

 

After all its possible that anything planned can still fail.

Life changes whether we want it to or not.

As for hope dying last. nah hope doesn't die last we do.

We give up at times when its time for us to give up , we stand up when its time to stand.

We laugh , we cry , we breathe

We exist because We Are.

 

Fallen Earth needs a new engine.

As long as there is funding to upgrade , its not over.

And even then its possible for either Little Orbit to , or someone else to pick it up and make Fallen Earth 2 : Outlands

Dreaming is free and free, but I will explain why I think there will be no other fallen earth, or not at least as it is now (hopefully if they comply with what they have said) Redoing a game with a new code is very difficult and although the game changes drastically, it is not even as if the "this community" has played, so you may not like it, count on that.

There are clear examples of companies like blizzard or bethesda that have not made the leap since it is not convenient. Bethesda has not done the remastering of the fallout 2 or the original fallout (these being the best stories) since the game was engaged in a different graphic engine that if you do 3D loses all its essence. Another example is the devil 2 lod or the original, with good argument, and although they will never make a remaster ....... yes, Actually the devil 2 is an active game and its servers are not the best anymore that have lag very occasionally, but does not lose population, since what is always valued in a game is its playability. Therefore, I repeat myself in the same thing, the essence of the fallen earth is in what it has now, with its failures, with its bugs, with its poor anticheat protection and with its community.

My feeling is that the company "Litle Orbit" has thrown in the towel, giving no options for the game to be what it is in its essence, a unique game.

Now in a few days the servers will shut down and I see people thanking the company for turning off a game that has been their life for many years, something sarcastic.

It is as if you are robbed at home and you thank thieves for robbing you.

 

In conclusion, the game could have done something during all these months that LO has had, and proof is that nothing has advanced. The reset has always been necessary as I said not to reach this point of no return and that the company had the money that made the game appreciable. I feel sorry for some who have been so many years and have been involved in the game beyond the game. I have already moved years ago

Well I have to disagree with this as I never went into PVP zones on first toon due to having no clue on how to PVP, but I did lvl well without defense towns. Never actually went to one until I was in Deadfall. Doing all the quests and crafting all the time got me to 55 without ever stepping into the PVP zones or spending hours in a defense town. Nor did I have commanders. I didn't even go into Dome to lvl until my 2nd toon was lvl50.

 

I think people just tried to rush to 55 without truly exploring all FE had to offer the PVE player.

 

The PVE rewards do suck though. Wish it had been addressed years ago...

I feel so sad and empty right now. I haven't played in like 8 months due to IRL issues, but then I come back to this? I do understand LO's reasoning, for sure. If I were in their place I'd do the same thing. Running an empty MMO is not free or cheap. I can only place a lot of faith and hope that the next "version" will actually happen, AND be done correctly.

 

I've been playing this game since the first F2P weekend on Steam. The only reason I ever even knew about this game 10 years ago was from seeing the DVD (CD?) box version on a shelf at Best Buy, back when you would normally buy games physically. I still remember the store and box. I didn't buy it. Then when it became free to play in 2012 I think, I grabbed it immediately and never looked back. It wasn't the only game or MMO I played, but it really meant something to me.

 

Part of the reason it resonated with me so much was because I live in the area the game is supposed to take place. The Grand Canyon is only a few hours away from me, and I've been all over that area in my life. I've been to Kingman (Old Kingman lol) many times.

 

I've been a part of several discontinued MMO games over the years, like Star Wars Galaxies, Wildstar, and Firefall. But this one hurts the most. I have several thousands of hours in it, and even played with many family members a LOT, including several years with my wife.

 

I implore you, Little Orbit, please do not give up on this game. Please continue with your vision of the future for Fallen Earth. Thank you.

It's the crafting and unlocking all the recipes that got you the experience needed to level up to 55.  The toon I tried this on was my 5th, I already had 2 main crafter toons with all recipes learned, I used them to mail crafted stuff to my other toons. If you invest little to no time in crafting on a toon, you will get stuck being under-leveled. It has happened to other players in the past; I remember some threads about it from other players when the forums was more active. It happens when new player joins large clans that support them, so they won't need to invest much into crafting which is understandable.

 

FE being a standard MMORPG game, questing by its own merit should have been enough to award us with plenty of experience (and rewards), since questing is the backbone of all MMORPGs. FE has interesting lore behind its quests (not counting the terribly rushed Outpost), but G1 neglected all the terrible payoff despite promising three times over the years in their dev blog "we'll look into it"

 

I once helped a new player go through the Flagstaff University quest, the hardest area of sector 2. He died a lot. When we got the pathetic end reward, he RAGED hard, his anger was palpable through my monitor 😮  Obviously I never saw him log in again after that.
