Game is not balanced (Pro enforcer)
koenyboy500 replied to Musul Man's topic in General Discussion Archive
We need some DEVS here to clean this mess up *meanwhile the devs: 'Grab some popcorn Scotty! You GOT to see this!!!"* heh, but joking aside. I feel like LTL is a very important, yet sensitive, feature in APB Reloaded. Some people hate it and some love it, I'd score it 50/50: bad mechanic (for crims), but defenitely part of APB. I do like the idea a lot that crims can get some kind of weapon mechanic too (idk, perhaps some kind of "execute" move like you can see in the beginning of the BeAllYouCantBe trailer and gain more cash like cops? It would fit for a group of criminals like the G-kings and Blood Roses. Heck, it could even have its own role and daily activities. But let's be honest here, the game is mostly based on the criminals. The criminal faction is what makes the game. Who goes to the steamstore and look at GTA and be like "oh wow I can roleplay a cop there!"? NO ONE. Everyone wants to be a baddie and that is why the game is even played. It's like cops are just some kind of byproduct. Here are some reasons why I think that: 1) you can drop off loot as a criminal and your notoriety will be set to 0, symbolising: You dropped off and are now under the radar (which means, less money, but cops cannot witness you. You can still bribe contacts tough). NOW, when an enforcer drops off loot taken from a criminal, his/her prestige will go to 2. AND LET ME TELL YA THIS, YOU WON'T BE AS LOW AS PRESTIGE 2 AT THAT TIME. This means you actually get penalised/demoted for doing cop stuff. It's cool it doesnt go to 0, but the creators of the system clearly did not care for the enforcers here. (and your non-opposed-mission random teammates you play with that get dragged into your witness WILL NOT thank you for dropping of some cash) 2) Now, this might just be me, although I doubt that I am the only one noticing this. Criminals get the defend-side MUCH MORE than enforcers. Speaking in gameplay here, defending is much more easier than attacking (heck, people even acknowledge that on RainbowSixSiege) resulting in criminals being somewhat (I should be careful of my words here)... "easier" to play. 3) While we are totally used to it, can I just point out to everyone again that an enforcer cannot do ANYTHING to ramraider criminals who raid at 0-1 notoriety (mugging CAN be stopped by killing the citizen... Very cop like). When a criminal is at 0 or 1 notoriety, the cash multiplier is 0.## times. This means that the criminal can stock up goods at low notoriety (to avoid the "you are carrying 2500$ worth so you are witnessable) and simply kill a row of citizens to rack up their notoriety up to like 1.2(?) and then deliver the goods... SURE, it is smart thinking and I feel like this should indeed be in the game, but once again an enforcer just stands by and watches... Counter-argues: 1) Cops get LTL. Defenitely a good arguement to say crims are left in the dust here, but LTL REALLY is a lot more difficult than what it seems to be at first glance (I agree, the Stabba ccg CAN be powerful as it is somewhat the same as a star with HuntingSight 1-2. But arresting is a lot more trickier and when I ask the community if a Star HS 2 could beat an NTEC, I am only gonna hear ONE answer. (people do underrate the STAR though! ^^ 2) Cops have better vehicles. In my entire gameplay career of 1300 hours I cannot really see why people say this (I haven't looked/compared this cause I simply do not care about vehicle stats. But if a ton of people are pointing this out it is propably true) (though I doubt that a minor stat-boost to a vehicle is a real playmaker in the game) I am certain I missed some spots here, but the differences between cops and crims are mostly minor. If it wasn't, I would see people complain about [insert faction here] in the district chat all the time. What do you guys/girls think? Did I miss something here that you think should be pointed out? (Please answer maturely) -

If LTL gets removed, I won't even ever return to APB R ever again. (and that from someone who has over 1300 hours into apb) -

Oh it certainly was fun! Don't get the wrong idea, I was shocked and filled with joy when I saw that "the butcher event has spawned in the district!". But I just wasn't ready for such an event yet. I needed those missions to be completed at that time and having an "unannounced" event popping up like that CAN hurt a player in some ways. OKAY, it's not THAT bad, I know. But my main point here was not that the butcher event is bad (though I wouldn't be suprised if others have complained about the event in the past), but that a "GM" can pop up and do things like this (again, this was not so bad, he/she justs spawned an event and turned invisible to spectate us). I'm just being sceptical about the powers that are handed out. READ ME> Lixil gave permission for "the GM" to spawn the event, lots of people in the district were asking for it, no harm was done to anyone and most importantly: Yes, I do have a potato pc. Lixil said that responding to this problem should be avoided. I am not typing this to get some kind of last laugh or anything. I simply wanted to explain this ( and I have no idea how forums or personal messaging works here... Nevertheless, I won't reply to this matter any more. (Sorry Lixil and Cookiepuss! >.< perhaps move this to someplace else?) -

I forgot the name of who it was, I'm not even sure they broke the rules either (what rules?), lots of people were asking for the event and so it was given. Hard to say if that is breaking the rules. I was quite sceptical of what he was doing though. -

Ssshhh, don't tell anyone. But it was actually REALLY fun ^^ I am certain some events can be created by "the glorious higherpowers", but until then, I guess we just have to stay put. Maybe some "events" from that armas-like page too? (DANG I should have played more christmas events... A PERMANENT RAPTOR??? OP OP ^^ -

I have already seen a "bad GM" about two weeks ago. This person kept spawning the "butcher" grenadelauncher event in Waterfront. Sure, the people in the district DID ask for this event to be spawned (after everyone saw a brand new GM and started speculating their powers), but I was simply playing missions like normal and eventually had to leave since: 1) the server was a ghost town, except for where "the butcher" was. 2) getting a new mission to play in was almost impossible and 3) when you drove along the event, your pc would almost certainly freeze... -
You don"t know? There is a "unthoughtful post storm" out here! Get inside! The area should be clear in 2/3 days. Then the post storm should have passed. No seriously, the condition of these forums are getting worse... For now.

Where do I even FIND the Q&A? Jeez, finding specific things you seek here is difficult. I cant find the Q&A. I couldn't find the GM application thread (I did, just about 3 hours ago) and when I ask for directions, everyone loses their minds. also, I notice that the threads are still tolerable, but are decreasing in formality... And rather rapid.

Anti-cheat / APB Update Status
koenyboy500 replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
I totally agree with you and I think it should be.... "modified" or implemented in some kind of mini-tutorial district where it can teach these tricks (propably not cause that would be a tough amount of work). But even tough these "mechanics" are, as you rightfully say, player-based and non-intended. They do give APB the reason why APB is APB, and I return to this game for many reasons alongside the "mechanics" (altough I'm not sure how the community would react to modifications to these). -
Let me just step right in the spotlights then.

Anti-cheat / APB Update Status

Yea. Seems like there are specific places where this can happen. I always notice it happening to garage-doors. But tons of places are just so poorly optimised you can sometimes "see through them" (for their name). Like it isn't 100% solid or something... But there is so much more tough, one worse than the other and some more acceptable (I have been considering to call these as "mechanics" in order to live (and die) by the rules of APB Reloaded). For example: Ninja-door-kicking (Moving aside a closed door, jumping and kicking the door open midair so you do not land in the open doorway). Door nades (simply placing a wellplaced grenade under, or to the exact sides of the door. It will go through if aimed propper). Corner poping (one of the more acceptable ones, but I am certain that crouching behind cover, only to pop up, shoot IMMIDIATLY with a sniper and crouch down again makes a player deadly and invulnarable). Car entering (don't know if there is a name for it. But if there is no space to perform the animation to enter the car door, it will teleport you inside instantly). WASDancing with scouts (this used to be a thing much more common before, you could simply dance around and jump. Then aim at the target, with good awareness of where you crosshair would be, and shoot very fast and accurately). HoldOntoItems (when the mission is i.e. capture and hold the truck. You can capture the truck and destroy it in order to make it respawn someplace else, but the last team who captured it will still accumulate points). Daring deeds (specific mission for enforcers where there is a raid with the targets E,F,G,H where only E and F are needed. This is getting more acknowledged in the community). DeadlyPhonebooths (ramming a phonebooth can make your car explode instantly, especially Dolton Fresno's). And propably much more. But to survive in APB Reloaded is to know these rules. No doubt in my mind that everyone here knows these things and uses them to their advantage. I just pointed out the wierd things of APB R, but by now these rules are also the things that define APB R for what it is now. And I wouldn't want to see (most of) these things deleted. -
Might be my potato of a pc. But everytime I run APB Reloaded and get the launcher it 1) Installs Battle-eye again indeed. And 2) It tries to install DirectX every single time. I don't know if this is supposed to happen (because I highly doubt I, as a gamer, do not already have DirectX installed), but then again I got no clue on how DirectX works :P So it might just be me, but I just felt like posting it. I don't find it annoying or anything, but I just wanted to give a heads-up.

EXACTLY! That is what I am aiming for! ^^

Read and understood. I shall be patient and will look into this matter whenever the oppertunity reveals itself. As for now I can return to my helper-duties ^^

Allright allright allright. Let's just ease it down for a little. Look, I just want to help the game make better. You people make some very hard facts against me that I absolutely cannot deny. I am being told: get out there and do something without a title. This ofcourse, is very true. (Obviously) But GM's are there for a reason right? Why would a GM else exist? And why can Jimmy be a GM and Albert not? I really do not see why there is so much opposition against someone who is trying to do his best for the game itself (through the benefit of being a recognised helper). All I was asking for in a nutshell was: What is a GM (thank you for clarifying that) for APB R specifically and where would I be needed to make our tomorrow better. But asking is kinda getting out of hand so I am resting my case.

How the balloons am I even supposed to know what a GM is? I just want to help the game as best as I can. I was giving an example. No need to crack open another ones idea. Edit: sorry to put it so bluntly. I just read a topic about the ESRB ratings...

I was wandering this as well. I am currently seeing a lot of talk about this "GM" and "How to become a GM" topics. No one is really giving directions nor requirements for this. I have played APB R for 1200 hours now (which is my most played steam game from over 130 games) and I know the game in and out. I would absolutely love to give new players the directions and learning them the ropes of the game. After all, we all know that APB is a harsh enviroment for those who do not know how to, for example, disable the auto-ready system (remember that was enabled for you in the beginning too? ^^) Edit: I am not familiar with forum posting of any kind. So please forgive me if I am doing something wrong or anything ^,^
