Alright then, maybe try switching to Cycles and see if you get a better result from that. I've never actually rendered anything in blender, so I don't know what kind of extra work that would make for you if any, I've always just used Daz Studio with the Nvidia Iray engine and I get results like this:

Tbh, and don't take this as an insult QoL, I think it's the use of really low res textures combined with Daz Syndrome. Daz syndrome is just my word for the use of uncanny looking character models with really off facial expressions, and weird materials, like the base ones found in Daz Studio. This can come down to the characters looking like plastic and just over all... creepy... The rendering engine you're using can also have a big impact. Here's an example of that. The left image is Nvidia Iray, and the right is Daz's old 3Delight engine. That character does just look weird in general, but it looks way worse in 3delight. I don't know what render engine you're using QoL, but maybe try switching to one of the newer ones that Blender offers?

Was running great for me last night. I was playing at about 2:00-4:00 AM EST. No lag or teleporting at all.

I think for those you need a tactical belt of some type. Hover your mouse over the symbol that says it can't be equipped and it should give you examples of clothing needed to equip them.

I would assume the thing that happened last month had something to do with the long wait time. Someone hacked the support portal that they use and flooded all of its clients with fake support tickets, I think Matt said there was something like 68,000 fake tickets that they have to go through now? He said they can't just mass delete them either unfortunately.
-
Oh okay, that makes a lot more sense. A Hummer wouldn't need to be massive, I'd say probably just slightly wider, and a little shorter than a Pioneer. If it is something like that It's gotta be based on an H1 though, none of that tiny H3 shit. It could probably have the torque and ramming power of the Pioneer too, which would make npcs turning into you not that big of a deal.

1-19-6 - Quick Changes for Live this week
BrandonBranderson replied to Beastie's topic in General Discussion Archive
exactly, nothing there to fix the infinite loading kicks by BE, just more plans to alter specs on guns. {I do like what they are doing} but the bogging servers since the patch, n the plan is to do more testing for more spec changes, not fix the servers so they accept players in mission districts. I was referring to the 2nd paragraph that says: "Second, it's really frustrating when we patch in new content, and then spend the whole weekend getting DDoSed. I apologize to the players who got on and experienced lag, warping, and other issues. Many players on the forums took the opportunity to poke fun at our "potato servers" or the "crappy new net code". Unfortunately we were under mitigation all weekend, so no one really got a chance to experience the benefit of the changes. Rest assured this is still my top priority to fix." -

Brainless AI? Players would be driving this not npcs.

With the name "Mirage" it sounds like it would either be something deserty like a Humvee or some sort of luxury sedan. Of the two I'd like the Humvee :3

Why game looks so drab?
BrandonBranderson replied to PonuryZniwiarz's topic in General Discussion Archive
You can blame the blue filter for the game looking so bland. APB's base color palette is fairly colorful, you can see it around sunset when the blue filter turns off. But during the day and night time it makes reds and oranges much less vibrant. It was added way back in the patch that made everything else look like shit. This was also the patch that broke DoF, bloom, and the nighttime fog was changed to an extremely dense dark blue instead of a light orange. APB: Reloaded 2018 APB: Reloaded 2011 G1 uglified the shit out of this game. -
Sounds like it's being fired from down the street lol. It's kinda funny how the impact of the bullet is louder than the gunshot itself.

Go Home Little Orbit, You're Drunk.
BrandonBranderson replied to Kewlin's topic in General Discussion Archive
Well, they haven't really. Up until now they've only done licensed games for Cartoon Network and Disney, and I doubt those game's even had forums. Buying APB was their way of breaking away from that. -
You can also rip a lot more models if you have the retail install disk or the RTW client. Yup, pretty much everything is on there other than post 2011 content. Plus the original model for the Vegas is there from before G1 broke it apart to add the Rhino kit to make roofs and fenders swappable parts. No Asylum though

Weapon Balance Changes - 1.19.6

If it were "Last man standing" with no respawns it would be BR, but it's not, and it's team based. -
Weapon Balance Changes - 1.19.6
BrandonBranderson replied to Beastie's topic in General Discussion Archive
They've said that it's not actually going to be a BR mode btw. Matt said it's called Riot and the only similarity it has to BRs is the play area moving or closing in. Plus he said it's going on OTW long before it's pushed to the live game. -
RE: "Server Restart" by @Lixil
BrandonBranderson replied to Hexerin's topic in General Discussion Archive
Don't treat them as if they're old G1. This is a brand new team of people that actually care. It doesn't matter whether your PC is a desktop or a laptop. Hotkeys are a software thing. So if you have a program like Auto Hotkey or something like that then the game will give you some issues. It's to prevent macroing. BE has been doing a surprisingly good job keeping cheaters out, I've only come across a few people that seemed fishy since it was added. I also see a lot of previously god-tier players playing like shit now. If you want a quicker answer than submitting a support ticket, try starting a thread about it here: https://forums.gamersfirst.com/forum/34-pc/ Most people are able to start the game just fine so it's probably not their "pathetic BE", it seems to be more of a "you" thing. -
San Paro absorbs light
BrandonBranderson replied to BrandonBranderson's topic in General Discussion Archive
It would be awesome if they would just recolor it and reduce the density to what it used to be so it can serve as light pollution again. Thanks, I'll give that a try when I get home. In that 3.5 screenshot I think I'm still seeing the bug where at night bloom is only visible when it's against the sky. That spooks me a bit, but I remember seeing this screenshot a long time ago so they might have already fixed it. I do really like the 3.5 lighting schemes though, how night scenes have a mild greenish tint from the fluorescent lights. Asylum looks really cool like that in the screenshots G1 shared a while ago. And how daytime actually looks warm again. It goes a little crazy with the contrast though, especially in the editor. When you're making a car, if you decide that you want it to be a somewhat bright yellow, it'll just appear white with a huge @ss blob of bloom over it. One thing I'll say looks pretty great though is Asylum at night with fog. It's a weird light blueish colored fog that gives a kinda neat atmosphere. It looks really stupid when you can see it inside the building, but it looks cool when you're outside. I also noticed that the reason sunset still looks so good in this game is because the blue filter just seems to shut off when the sunset part of the cycle begins. Then you have perfect clarity and everything looks warm and nice. So if that filter wasn't there, daytime would probably look a lot warmer too. -
The city sure does look beautiful at ni-... Oh.

Why are people so scared of changes ?
BrandonBranderson replied to Ebola-Chan's topic in General Discussion Archive
If you want an example of people rightfully being afraid of change, check out Crossout. When that game entered closed beta, there were a lot of issues, but it was still really fun. The leveling system was kinda grindy and worked like APB's but it wasn't all that bad. Vehicles were fun to drive and you could do some crazy stuff with them. Then they started changing things like the way progression worked, so once you reach a certain amount of XP per day it pretty much halts your progression for that day, and every change to the progression system since then seems like a direct effort to slow progression. They also started applying limits to items, so you can only put one engine on your vehicle for example, which basically killed off ramming builds, then after that they made it so each wheel (or movement part) reduced the engine's power so now it's impossible to max out the acceleration bar, making the game feel extremely sluggish and boring. You used to even be able to do a wheelie if you made a somewhat light buggy. In Crossout's case change was a bad thing aside from new content. APB however, has been stagnant for far too long. Now we have Little Orbit, which actually listens to us and isn't afraid to try new things. One of the problems with Crossout's devs is they don't take criticism very well, and will often post their ideas for the upcoming patch a day before it goes live, and if a majority of the feedback isn't in their favor, they lock the patch note discussion thread. Little Orbit has been giving us fair warning since the day they took over. It's because of this that I trust LO to make good changes a hell of a lot more than I trust Targem to make good changes. So I'm looking forward to the future of APB, and as long as LO keeps up this communication I won't be afraid of changes because if one is completely ridiculous there will be a bit of backlash and they probably won't end up adding it. -
Bring back the old menu music please!
BrandonBranderson replied to EliteViperNinja's topic in General Discussion Archive
Last time Matt mentioned this he said they mostly needed to find all the moving parts and art assets, but he said he'd love to see it come back and he prefers it much more than the current one. He also said he needed to make sure they still had the copyright for the song, which they should since a variation of it is still in the character creation screen, and it was written for the game. -
Bicks & 8-Ball's need are NERF
BrandonBranderson replied to TrashCan's topic in General Discussion Archive
He used me as an excuse for some people counterarguing his point. It just might be. Unfortunately I don't think this is Katchwi. I believe Katchwi is Excalibur! on the forum now. We might have another one like him to deal with :l -
Bicks & 8-Ball's need are NERF
BrandonBranderson replied to TrashCan's topic in General Discussion Archive
Yup brick and 8 ball both require a certain distance before they're lethal. I'm pretty sure the bricks don't fly as fast or far as 8 balls but they can kill in a shorter distance.
