  1. Funny thing about that, the PC version of APB never really had controller support. You could get controllers to work with keybinds, but they never really worked properly.
  2. Well, that's kinda sad and pathetic. Alrighty good to know! I'll always appreciate movie references and a sense of humor. One thing I can't stand these days is when developers take their game too seriously for what it is. That's what made the first RAGE kinda meh for me. Great game, but the serious tone sorta dragged it down in my opinion. Also I gotta say the Fastback's idle sound is badass.
  3. Don't rush out RIOT, from what I've seen in the first stress test the mode needs work and polish. Didn't get to participate in the 2nd test so I don't know how that went. Either way, I'd rather it be finished than rushed out, otherwise all the work that went into it would be for nothing. In the test I participated in, I highly doubt it would have made a good first impression on new players.
  4. Thanks! No idea why you got a downvote for that, it's some pretty helpful info. I went ahead and bought the Flaming Battle Fastback off of the marketplace with some leftover G1c and I gotta say, I wasn't expecting them to handle like that lol. It's like they're set on permanent cruise control and I was expecting something a little more physics based and faster for some reason, but looking at how this game operates the current system makes sense and real vehicle physics don't really seem possible in the current engine and would probably just be a buggy mess with terrain collisions n' all. Either way, I'm not disappointed by it at all, just a little surprised because I've never played a game where vehicles operate like this before. One other thing I was curious about is, Sometimes when driving along the car would randomly speed up quite a bit and then slow back down a few seconds later. Is this something that I might be triggering by mistake? Also now that I see the Fastback up close, I can tell where the inspiration for the NightRider body kit for the Patriot Jericho in APB came from Seems like a mix between the Fastback and the Interceptor from Mad Max. Anyway, thanks for the info!
  5. Hello, New to Fallen Earth here, been around on the forums for APB for a long time though. I was just curious, how long on average would you say it would take a new player to get the point where they can own their first car if they just work straight toward that particular goal? I basically only have one night into the game so far due to all of the downtime and bad timing on my part to start playing the game knowing about all the issues. I figure that now with the new FallenNot4gotten code for the 4 weeks of Commander it should give me a nice boost right? I'm just really curious how vehicles will handle in this game to be honest lol. (By car, I mean car, not ATVs or dune buggies.) Thanks!
  6. Lol nice code. I just started playing this game right in the middle of all the crazy downtimes n' stuff, and I was planning on buying Commander as soon as everything was stable again, but this works even better. Thanks Matt!
  7. Open world definition according to Wikipedia: In video games, an open world is a virtual world in which the player can explore and approach objectives freely, as opposed to a world with more linear gameplay. While games have used open-world designs since the 1980s, the implementation in Grand Theft Auto III (2001) set a standard that has been used since. APB is open world no matter how you twist it. Phasing is a system that seamlessly moves you to a different instance of the district you're in based on matchmaking without bringing up a loading screen or respawning you or anything. With phasing, matchmaking will be taking from a pool of every player in an instance of that district, which will also eliminate threat locked districts all together.
  8. They aren't called "mission districts". They are called "Action Districts". Action is a very broad term and could be used to describe anything he used as an example there. Believe it or not APB was originally designed as an open world game. In the RTW version you didn't even ready up for missions. Criminals would do open world stuff and enforcers would get dispatched against them when they were witnessed by a pedestrian or enforcer. (Ever notice that little meaningless yellow notification that says "A pedestrian has witnessed you committing a crime"?) That notification just doesn't have any function anymore. Seriously? Don't pretend the ramps scattered everywhere around the districts aren't just for doing crazy shit. Like 90% of them can't be used to get to higher ground. APB isn't a hardcore tactical shooter and was never intended to be. Hell, the game didn't even have recoil when it first came out. It's not like fast cars were only intended to serve one purpose. They're also just meant to be fun to drive, show off, and give players something to work towards on top of being able to beat the opposition to the objective.
  9. I haven't noticed any change in the servers lately either other than this recent downtime. They've been explaining what exactly happened that caused it to go down over the past week. They hit some huge snags when moving to a new data center. Are you unaware of BattleEye being implemented? Fairfight just didn't work and banned legits while blatants were getting to R100+. There haven't been any speedhackers since then and the over all amount of cheaters has gone down drastically. They stopped announcing bans because it only added to the toxicity. The Showstopper is a pretty well balanced gun and don't forget that you can also lease it for JTs. (About the engine upgrade): They've let the SPCT, who are just regular players say some things about it so we do know for sure that it's being tested. Matt said he doesn't want to release any screenshots yet because they aren't done tweaking the visuals and he wants any material released about it to be as representative of the final product as possible. They have also reworked Armas by reducing the price of pretty much everything, even G1C itself. They've done more over the past year than G1 has during their last four years of owning APB.
  10. Just make Crash Bandicoot. You'll never have to worry about whether people might think you look stupid, because you'll know for sure that they do.
  11. Hardware failures don't care about your holiday. What makes you think the ones saying "stop asking for free stuff" didn't earn their money like you did? Just because they aren't screeching like an angry kid on the forum about it? Get off your high horse, you're no better than anyone else just because you paid to support the game. Most players have paid something over the years. Fellow OBT vet btw. Ignore the forum join date.
  12. I think Matt said recently that it takes a little over an hour for a FE server to boot up.
  13. Nice! Charlie's soothing voice must be what kept you calm throughout the whole ordeal.
  14. did you died? I heard the outside air is toxic.
  15. Yeah I remember everyone's reaction to that random fire rate buff it got a few years ago. Everyone just thought "Wtf why?" and started asking for it to be reverted but G1 didn't listen. It'll still be a great gun if they revert that change, so I'm all for reverting it.
  16. Ah ok, thanks for that! I really need to pay more attention on that server.
  17. lol just noticed Lixil has little wings next to her name, is that new? What went wrong when you guys changed the server location? I read that the login server fried but is that still the cause of the current issues, or are they unrelated? Sounds like a big ol' shitstorm on your end and everything just started failing at once. Hope you get it figured out soon!
  18. Yes please. That would be kinda funny actually. Someone in a 4x4 is just drifting and sliding around you, trying to run you over, then you pull out a satchel and hit F when it's close enough. If they don't realize what you did then it'll be a hell of a surprise for them.
  19. Been on a Chemlab binge lately. Any cheesiness can be attributed to these songs being released 26 years ago.
  20. How? You had to HOLD the fire button to fire fast with the Hohopgl. If you let go of it then it has to do the windup again. Rolling your scroll wheel counts as repeated button presses, not a continuous hold.
  21. The 3.5 you guys are playing on is so bad because the previous G1 team decided to rush it out before it was anywhere near complete. The reason LO hasn't fixed it yet is because they are trying to get the PC version also upgraded to 3.5 so both console and PC are running on the same code base. This has been their top priority since they took over and they're nearing completion. They've also been working on back-end issues with the console versions along side the PC upgrade. I recommend reading Matt's blog posts. The last part of this post is about the console versions: https://www.gamersfirst.com/apb/news/2019/4/18/april-update-from-matt They aren't uninterested in fixing the graphics issue, they've just had more important things to work on. Them only being at this point after a year of owning the game with an actual competent team behind it should be an indicator of how much of a mess APB really is on the back end.
  22. Zombies just don't fit in with APB. APB, despite being a crazy action game is still fairly grounded in reality. Plus for this mode the devs would have to take on the huge task of building a completely new AI system from the ground up. Currently NPC's can only move on a set path that they can not deviate from. Some more WW2 weapons would be neat though. I like me some old guns.
  23. Pretty sure it used to be more than $11.99, wasn't it? And like, they're not forcing you to buy it or anything.
  24. That last line was super disappointing for me. I thought Yood finally wrote a coherent thread up until that point. Good thing I skimmed over most of that text. On topic: A combination of a lot of things. -The Uglification of APB that made it look the way it does now. -Threat segregation halved the playerbase and it never recovered from that. -Poor weapon balance over the years. Anyone remember the C-2? -G1's money grubbing ways in general drove a lot of people away. -The game was never finished to begin with. -Years of neglect
