This game is easy to exploit and hundreds of cheats/macros have been written for it... that's why everyone looks forward to the Engine upgrade... not that it also wouldn't get compromised eventually... but at least the actual skilled coders would be rare and big name cheat companies would have lost all interest in such a tiny niche game. I don't think anything can be done to change things, sans engine upgrade.

You have zero credibility. The reasons for APB's gradual decline (and yes I was there... and this is my second forum account. I got moderated on the first one and stopped posting for a couple months in disgust and then forgot the login and made this one. I actually started playing when APB opened on Steam Dec of 2012, by no means was I an RTW veteran, but the best years of APB included playing with the talented and skilled RTW vet crowd). Regardless... among the multifactorial causes of APB's decline are precisely those things you deny... and do not know JACK -F'ING- SHIT about. I couldn't give a rat's turd how many accounts you made since 2017. You aren't entitled to an opinion because you do not know how the game has changed, how it declined, or what those factors were that actually hurt it severely... Merged. In an ideal world this would work... all the snowflakes could join hands in social and sing kumbaya... but in the real world, Language and Country are kinship ties and the Brs and Rus will stick together to destroy the fun of non-Brs and non-Rus, regardless of team. When I played on Nekrova and didn't speak Russian or write in Cyrillic, no one cut me any slack... and often I would get TK'd into quitting. Today, a lot of the hate is caused by the anti-American insults blasted in chat or whispers by the Brs... I do not know what the Rus are even saying. We also have hardcore knit groups of Turks and, used to be Germans. Among other things, they stick together against all else... whereas Americans... composed of, you know, people whose background probably includes those ethnicities or close neighbors... are the ones who get shafted,,, and then blamed for intolerance... what a croc of shi=t. Segregation by Country worked because it prevented "in-groups" from sabotaging the fun of the majority playerbase hardcore to dominate the game for "their ethnic loyalties." Merged. That's not even possible when the population has shrunk so dramatically that all we have left is a concentrated soundbite of the most bitter folks who still bother to play. How could it logically be the same when there used to be full districts and your matches were very rarely with the same toxic guys? Now, of course... you play the same guys over and over and over... because there's no one left in the matchmaking pool.... except the old farts who pissed in it. Merged. Who cares if it's using the same backend system, G1 tweaked and changed it multiple times... and always with unforeseen results and more bugs... and the system gradually became more and more unbalanced and more and more broken. The game today is radically NOT the same as when I started. The scoring system changed, and you could lose more threat more quickly. What this means is that a Gold 10 in a district could afford to fight a few losing matches against an army of bronzies without losing significant threat... so there was no real impetous to WTFpwn them all. Once the system was tweaked to a certain point then missions started to be more hardcore... bronzies/greens/Trainees started getting trashed/shamed/ TK'd until they quit so they put in the system where they needed a demerit... which just meant they were baited into leaving the match after being tricked into a TK, like a gold running in front of their car. Nowadays full groups of golds do the same thing to silvers... because they cannot afford the inefficiency... but when I started playing the scoring system wasn't so aggressive... and consequently... while their have always been highly competitive and aggressive clans... the majority of the population tended to be more chill... it didn't affect them if they lost a few matches while the trainee naded himself trying to open the door. A lot of things changed over time. The matchmaking/threat and scoring system changed an absurd amount of times... because G1 could never get it right... and every change they made had a more negative consequence... like when Threat Segregation rolled out... and all the Golds went to the Bronze districts to roll the noobs... then they were locked to Golds and Golds couldn't even play for want of a gold district. But you know all this... you just like to argue nonsense in an effort to be edgy and "right" despite being honest about the actual alterations to the original game that put APB on Life Support. G1 was incompetent. It didn't help that the RTW staff wandered off to make a failed MMO. -

To my knowledge G1 changed the threat system a few times, we do not have rank 15 golds anymore. We sure don't have the old icons. We sure don't have the noobie zerg which gave the wimps a fighting chance and actually made the game funny. Nope, all we have are incredibly toxic tiny pop of overcompensating turdlets who play like their out to destroy the world 40x over. It's pretty shameless when a full group of golds WTFstomps lower threats and skills killing them 30x in a mission and not even letting them grab a single target. Come on... that level of competitiveness should be reserved for equal skilled players because it absolutely causes new people to quit and they've virtually abandoned this game. The old system was MUCH more fair than the multiple times G1 fubared it. Before Threat Segregation, which ramped up the scoring system, causing fake golds to lose color quickly... people were more forgiving having a noob on their team.... but when fake golds started turning silver, they started 1. kicking noobs. 2. TKing noobs 3. Harassing and trashing noobs (to demoralize them and make them quit) 4. And playing like they wanted to exterminate noobs from the game. And they succeeded. Ofc toxic players did that in the old system, but it wasn't until G1 changed the system that the level of competitiveness and aggression increased exponentially. There was simply no leeway between winning and losing that allowed for some of the old RTW gold standard players to clown around, and literally PLAY WITH the noob population. That was what it was like when I started playing and was an original noob. I remember the HUMOR of a solitary gold running circles around me in a clown face (who could have killed me 10x over) and running for his life when 3 other noobs came to save me. I'm just relating my EXPERIENCE of when the game was actually good, and popular and fun... and what ought to be done to restore that... but LO is going to listen to people like you. So I don't even have any hope for the game. That's what was claimed when I joined when it released on steam. I never had cause to question it because THOUSANDS were playing daily, into all hours of the night. Maybe it was a fake number, does it matter? What made the game POPULATED was the TEAM WORK and the FUN HUMOR... the toxic crap didn't even show up for a few years... that hateful, bitter, brutal, abusive toxic APB population is a far later development. It coincided with a massive nosedive in numbers... the Threat Segregation system and scoring changes... But keep arguing against it. It doesn't matter because LO won't listen, has no clue, and listens to people like you who never enjoyed anything BUT the most toxic version of the increasingly broken game. Merged. This is actually the sad truth. APB is an amazing game... but none of the people running it seem to have the resources or common sense to make the productive changes and run it fairly and well. It's not that you should throw a match BUT... when you are not only winning, but WTFPWNING noobs in every match and they have no chance at all except to die repeatedly... they stop playing... and maybe you should take a break from diehard, cutthroat competitiveness and start reflecting on what actually is good for the game... such as player retention... And I don't mean you, but we all know some groups who play full tilt like this also clutter District Chat with the worst derogatory insults, intended to sexually and racially humiliate and degrade the guys that are newer and can't play so well. Come on now, that's what has killed the game population. If you want the game to survive, acknowledge what needs to change. -

CookiePuss totally not a troll Members 4010 10571 posts Joined Apr 2017 Oh my Jeebus! You were nowhere around and are talking so much crap to people who were. I played when there were 2 million accounts, and perhaps earlier it was 3 million, WTF? A lot of the old articles are scrubbed off the net boy, even though maybe one or two remain which claimed otherwise. As I didn't work at G1 corporate, I wouldn't know the exact statistics, but I started playing when APB Reloaded opened on Steam, and it was claimed 2 million at that time, and credibly was booming for a few years after, with like 20 full Districts to choose from, multiple full fight clubs and incredibly crowded social. There were times your group of 3 guys had to WAIT for an open district. How in the hell did you get SPCT when you don't even know what you're babbling on about. -

REMOVE COLORS~!~ MAKE THREAT INVISIBLE!~ HAVE INTERNAL COMPUTER CALCULATE THE ACTUAL HIDDEN THREAT/RANKS AND COMPENSATE LOWER RANKS WHEN VERSUS BETTER RANKED/SKILLED/THREAT PLAYERS... give them small health boost, weapon dmg boost or something... to compensate for their sheer dumb noobiness so they have a TINY chance to KILL someone and have a little fun and not QUIT. ALSO, GIVE A LITTLE ABILITY DECREASE TO HIGHER RANKED/THREAT PLAYERS ONLY WHEN THEY ARE UNFAIRLY MATCHED VERSUS LOWER RANKS?THREATS... THAT WAY THE GOLD GODS GET A LITTLE CHALLENGE AND DON'T QUIT OUT OF BOREDOM SHOOTING DUMB FISH IN A POND. THE ONLY PEOPLE THIS SYSTEM WOULD OFFEND ARE THE GRIEFERS WHO PLAY TO WTF PWN, SMASH, TRASH, HUMILIATE, AND DRIVE OTHERS AWAY FROM THE GAME... AND NEGLIGENCE ON BOTH G1 + LO's PART HAVE ALLOWED THIS TOXIC SHIT CULTURE TO THRIVE AND WRECK THE TRUE JOY OF THIS AWESOME GAME. BACK IN THE DAY... BEFORE THREAT SEGREGATION MADE LOWER THREATS A TARGET AND STARTED THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL... A RANK 10 GOLD WOULD HAVE TO COMPETE AGAINST 5 Bronzes and 2 Silvers (when threats were actually a TRUE reflection of skill)... and SOMETIMES the noobs would win and have a lot of fun... back when there used to be 2 million accounts and the game was still alive. Go back to the more casual fun-times, allow HUMOR in the game so the TOXIC HATRED, RACE-BAITING, ETHNIC TRASHING, HACKUSATING, MURDEROUS TKing, SILVER/BRONZE DUMPING SHENANIGANS CAN FK OFF AND MAKE THE GAME GREAT AGAIN>>> AND FUNNY AGAIN... WHEN IT WASN"T ABOUT KILLING EVERYONE 50x BUT ACTUALLY BEING ON A TEAM THAT HELPED NOOBS BEAT GOLDS. FFS bring back the original RTW threat system, but mask the THREAT COLORS... it worked so much better than the tweaked crap we have now that RUINED this GREAT GAME. -
Perhaps... but at this stage, they have nothing to cry about so ofc the numbers are low... game in it's current state is broken. Even a few small fixes have the potential to radically improve their prospects financially.

You are either willfully misinformed or duplicitous. It's happened to me before as well, albeit it was a few years ago. I hardly play APB much nowadays. There are several known ways freezing up the other player can be accomplished and have been talked about in several games. While from a script based cheat program view, it would not be possible... it is in fact what a lag-switch does.... and it's well documented... for years.... I'm sure you know that but are just pretending not to. I actually learned about it like 10 years ago playing old Shadowbane... when Chinese hacker guilds/clans would cause us to freeze up or black screen... for a few moments. Once we could see again, and move again... me and my team were already dead. "In the peer-to-peer gaming model, lagging is what happens when the stream of data between one or more players gets slowed or interrupted, causing movement to stutter and making opponents appear to behave erratically. By using a lag switch, a player is able to disrupt uploads from the client to the server, while their own client queues up the actions performed. The goal is to gain advantage over another player without reciprocation; opponents slow down or stop moving, allowing the lag switch user to easily outmaneuver them." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating_in_online_games#Artificial_lag/lag_switch

And no sales would mean the game shuttered and sunsetted a long time ago. People only purchased things because they loved and wanted to support the game. Why exactly are you even here posting if you don't think APB should survive, because while under G1 you wanna play fanboi so hard you lose all perspective and rationality? Without the sales, APB has ZERO means of support and dies... doesn't matter WHAT company is owner. It wasn't always that way... that's just what it deteriorated into. Punkbuster worked at insta banning a lot of public cheats which, at one point in time were flooding this game. In fact Mr. Epic Goat used to write free cheats and give them to the public. Punkbuster was really good at snagging all that. It was NEVER good as a standalone... nor was Fairfight any good WITHOUT Punkbuster as a clientside anticheat... which BattleEye replaced under LO. For the longest time.... years in fact, G1 Devs were actually in game banning people. Revoemag I think it was used to teleport cheaters on top of buildings. Jericho banned Goat for life. For a long time G1 and the old RTW crew did a great job policing the game... but they lost interest and stopped logging in and eventually quit or were laid off... Tiggs wasn't even around then... but when Tiggs first joined she was the hardest working Dev I've ever seen. She brought in Fairfight to supplement a weak Punkbuster... and at first G1 was actually PAYING for updates... and the game had a golden time. G1 introduced a ton of content... they gave us new breed content: contacts Ernst Mule Templeton and Birth, and new titles, and new items in Armas, new weapon skins, and even new weapons... albeit most were simply reskins... but something is better than nothing. We got the Stac 10, the brick and eight-ball, a host of new stuff like fragile, wide-radius field supplier, car surfer, spotter, flak jacket. We got new cars, new car kits, the Asylum district... it sorta sounds like you're very new to this game and don't have a clue. In 1 year what exactly did you say LO gave us? For a long time Fairfight worked amazing... it was slow, but it compiled statistics... and at first G1 was trying to be fair and judicious with bans while working on their proprietary in-house anti-cheat which NEVER was as effective as Russia's APB Innova server and their proprietary Frost anticheat and in-game GMs. But G1 did try to imitate Innova's succesful platform... over the years people learned how to game Fairfight by deliberately misfiring several rounds to establish inaccuracy, and then toggling aim/triggerbots to win losing games... these guys could never get caught. Anyways over time G1 wasn't generating the revenue it had before and FF stopped being updated and G1 monkeyed with the settings until maybe the last year when anybody was getting manual bans in FF's name.... But it wasn't always this way, there was a steady deterioration from something actually fair and great to... well crapola. I'm recalling the best of times in APB under G1... and I acknowledged LO inherited the wind... but they haven't done anything in a year worth a darn... perhaps they will, but I think the population decline is because the veteran playerbase at large no longer believes them. -

-So like 2-3weeks versus 6 months to answer tickets. Tiggs + -Flash sales and even special request sales and a forum presence that actually interacted. Tiggs + -An anticheat that actually worked versus a mass unbanning + Nekrova merge that in a couple months emptied out what was left of the playerbase. Tiggs + -G1 over time actually put a lot into the game. They aged as a company badly, and invested in fail platforms forcing them to downsize and lay-off their talented staff. By contrast... in 1 year LO has promised the MOON and delivered... nothing worth a darn... why? Their staff is even smaller than G1's downsized. Who wins? If after 1 year LO has sunk this low, it's a fail... but not entirely their fault... they inherited a dogfart that needed lots of work and they didn't have the means. G1 actually mismanaged their funds. In this case I call DRAW. = LO is a whopping huge step down. We shall soon see the death of the game, as they don't know what they're doing. G1 lasted a hella longer with a lot more activity and interest then LO in 1 year, doesn't answer support tickets, doesn't interact with the players, what implementations they make are so far removed from what players want and need... like failed gun balance, promised Riot mode BR... etc... who LO isn't even a step DOWN from G1... it's a DIVE into Game Death. Mark my words. -

Naw, Tiggs got a bad rap for banning a lot of popular closet cheaters.... it was only later she had a nervous breakdown and started banning everybody... can't really blame her though. APB is full of dweebs. As for actual SUPPORT Tiggs did a great job, be honest. I mean she ANSWERED support tickets....... -
Tiggs, its you? Little Orbit does not exist
DedGaem replied to vfterlife's topic in General Discussion Archive
Nah man... Tiggs gave us flash sales and woke up tech support at 3am if the server's were down... she also personally replied to support tickets and even answered them when people posted in forums. LO ain't Tiggs... it's something far below quality and much worse. -
I don't even have a problem with the mass unbanning.... provided they had a SYSTEM in place like they PROMISED to deter actual cheating in future again. they didn't. They can't even respond to report tickets. In fact... LO has succeeded in making Tiggs look good, who at least had fire sales, took forum requests for special sales, and was waking up the crew when the servers were broked and offline. The only thing LO has done is say "I'm Sorry" in a very convincing way, while plunging the remnant of this game into a whole new BR mode. After LO... APB will be offline and sunsetted. I have no hope at all.
-
Sure bud. Sure.
-
Yea golds always LOVED joining gold districts.... and if ya wanna see doomsday... log into APB rn.
-
you LOVED the time of Threat segregation when golds didn't even have a district to log into and everyone and their mother-in-law started dethreating to log into bronze districts to WTFslaughter lower op in a rage? yeah that really helped the game. Golden times. So many higher tier player QUIT that they changed it so silvers could go into bronze district and golds could go into silver district. THREAT SEGREGATION WAS NEVER REMOVED AND IT FO SHO FKED THE GAME.
-
What I ACTUALLY said...^ Thanks for telling it like it really is. You didn't say anything worth a darn relative to the OP or the convo... you just wanked on some charts and pretended it proved something impossible. Cool story bro. Since BOTH Jericho and Citadel are circling the toilet population-wise... it doesn't matter what ANY of you posers, or your Steam charts try and prove. If you can't acknowledge the obvious deterioration of the playerbase... you have no comprehension at all.
-
Uh, reminder of OP under which this discussion is transpiring: IS GAMING IN NA DYING? ROE IS THE SAME CONDITION AS APB; NOONE EVER PLAYING NA By a Pair of Socks Yeah, we are TALKING about the population of NA.... aka JERICHO. These posers are trying to piss on our leg and tell us it's raining by using Steam Charts to establish the population is exactly the same as last year.... something easy to discredit by simply logging in to see how DEAD Jericho's population actually has become.
-
Revert the assault rifle changes G1 applied
DedGaem replied to KyoukiDotExe's topic in General Discussion Archive
It's not that the N-Tec is OP, but that tapfire script-kiddies have a lot of cough *no-recoil programs they can use to push it past it's intended design parameters. This makes the N-Tec seem stupid OP when it's really not. Any nerf to it would be doing the game a disservice. -
And if you think APB population hasn't taken the biggest nose-dive and is circling the toilet worse than at any time previous, you can just keep blowing those steam chart figures up your assets. For a FACT, back in the day some hardcore people played with SUCH low resolutions as to be nearly outlines only. Don't tell me EVERYONE who plays this game logs in with Steam, thats the single most overly optimistic wad of hoopla ever posted. Your comments don't match reality. This game popu;ation isn't anywhere near the same as last year. It's DYING HARD AND FAST. Maybe you need to get some reality. Nope. All I have to do is log into Jericho and see how wrong you are.
-
Nonsense. The hardcore APB playerbase tweaks their graphics to the lowest setting or uses apps that shut down all unnecessary processes like Gamebooster, etc.... ANSWER: to tweak as min/max as possible the best gaming performance... And that above all entails NOT logging in with a secondary continuously running program like Steam. What do you gain by it except a resource drain and performance hit, when you can so easily bypass Steam and log in directly? You gain nothing. Hence MOST people do NOT log in via Steam... except maybe the newer or dumb ones, or the filthy rich who can afford twilight speed gaming rigs and don't care about losing a little performance. And THIS is why most players do NOT log in via secondary programs that drain resources like Steam.
-
STEAMCHARTS An ongoing analysis of Steam's concurrent players. You realize Steam charts only show players who log in via Steam. There are a lot of players who don't. Therefore those charts only show a small portion of the playerbase anyway and are not entirely accurate as to overall accounts logging in or not logging in. If you are so delusional as not to notice the precipitous decline of jericho since last year... no point in pretending to have a convo with you. The game's declining hugely, because LO can't deliver on it's promises... because a large portion of their returned playerbase was due to mass unbanning.... but nothing was maintaining their interest. Not just that, but cheaters still cheat and now there isn't even Togg's to moderate them... LO can't even answer support tickets. So ASSUREDLY the game is in the worst condition it's ever been in. I HOPE things turn around, but let's get some honestly about the situation Mr. STEAM charts.
-
The dated game was doing a whole hell of a lot better before LO unbanned thousands of cheater accounts and then utterly ignored in-game player complaints about the now taken over game which makes it really unenjoyable. Grats LO for a cheater playerbase that doesn't invest in your product. How's that working out for you? Oh yeah, throw in a BR.... that will hammer the last nail in the coffin. Merged. When I first started playing, it was before Threat Segregation patch totally screwed matchmaking up the plug-hole... and there were 20 open districts even late into the night. It was a different version of the game, and while imperfect it WORKED. Everything G1 did to "improve" only pushed the game farther from the best iteration. THreat Segregation singlehandedly caused the largest playerbase drop off the map. Once that happened, it was literally the point of no return because nothing they could tweak out of matchmaking could bring back enough players for balance. the only hope of this game is to restore the original RTW files, engine upgrade that version, and have a fresh launch.
