its pretty sad when i can go into a 2014 porn game and have higher expectations of graphical fidelity than in this game.

that's not even bringing up the customization of ILLUSION games that are on par, if not superior to APB.

Another visual feature that has seemingly been removed from the current game, are the clouds shadows, as seen on the rooftops at 5m 30s in this video:

The main reason why the lights aren't as bright, were because MonteCristo went through and lowered all the emissive textures for them. If that's a change we'd like to see in the future is mainly subjective, but it would make sense to increase them for certain materials.

isnt it also because bloom has been pretty much removed as well? The screenies from way back are very bloomy (which makes things look better)

Less bright surfaces means less bloom by default. More bloom isn't necessarily better, but it does make sense for glowing objects. There was an earlier G1 version where they made everything have more bloom, so your character would be glowing when walking around, which did not look good.

Revoemag didn't change any of the color correction or shaders from what I know. That was MonteCristo, and he was around for quite a bit after those changes I believe, but was probably laid off when APB: Vendetta didn't turn out very well.

While I could notice the difference in the past and appreciate the RTW looks nowdays they both look like shit

The only thing i don't like about the RTW lighting system is the nights look like day time but it overall looks much better then what G1 did, but it doesn't really matter anymore since with either UE 3.5 or 4 we will be getting a new light system anyways so no more super bright or super drab looking city no more.

Game certainly feels darker in terms of atmospheric light. Reminds me of the option in The Division for realistic lighting. Makes night dope as hell.

In a game however, where we are trying to kill each other in the name of some creed, I think we all want to be able to see our enemy.

Even then, most people play on potato settings where light is apparently not an issue. I guess the issue is really for people with beefy computers.

Still, I'm kind of hoping for some improvement upon the games shaders and graphics myself.

In my opinion G1 made the game look WAY better in 2011-2012 than it did in RTW.  RTW was a bit too bright, but 2011 Reloaded was a good mix of RTW and what we have now.  It had light pollution but wasn't overblown like in RTW and wasn't Black like it is now.  Somehow later on G1 figured out how to make a city produce negative light and made the light pollution black.

Watch this video to see what it looked like between 2011-2012 if you haven't been around that long.  Night time was so pretty back then.

I have a suggestion thread about restoring APB's visuals if anyone wants to pop in and support it :3

I think it was accidentally removed with the camera updates the game had which allowed you to look around while jumping over fences for example. When it was later brought up to Gamersfirst, they first thought it was just video editing and didn't realize it was something that used to be part of the game. I'd like to see camera sway while driving to be fixed and added back in, but with a toggle in the options for those who prefer to have it disabled.

If I recall correctly it was removed because it caused dizziness for some players, so actually a toggle would be a viable option.

Honestly, just having more options for visuals is something I want as well. We all like to experience things differently, so definitely with Jota on this.

I would be happy if they just undid everything and went back to RTW looks for the time being. also, it's sad how much better the guns used to sound in RTW.

The night time used to be awesome. Hopefully we can revert to that. That being said I think the days now are slightly better, because I do not like to have crazy bloom when it is already bright outside.

Rtw all the way no competition. I'd like them to release oldschool APB servers with game version from RTW times removing all the stupid things G1 added or changed.

Looking at all this again, it feels like G1 slowly turned off the lights of this game. Literally. In all meanings.
