APB 2022 Roadmap Discussion

Recommended Posts

Really sad that you are always put off and that nothing comes of it in the end. How many years and money (thousands of euros) have flowed into my account to finally determine that everything will be discontinued...

You already found a better game to replace APB? Don't say GTA:O.

Merged.

I have to agree with Revo though, it's hard to imagine how LO will draw life out of a game that began development in the mid/late 2000s.

Many MMO games older than APB are still active, MMORPG's specifically. APB has no direct competitors, therefore it can survive for a long time. Right now it's only the lack of development that can kill APB.

If the core gameplay-loop is decent, players will stick to a game. APB does has (or had) some decent gunplay-mechanics, good movement/mobility and a serviceable progression system. It's generally fun to play.

The customisation system also gave creative minds a great entry-point.

But as far as I'm concerned, the whole mission design and matchmaking-ordeal is far from ideal and thus not a good gameplay-loop. Too much downtime between missions, too much downtime within missions.

So it's not just a lack of development that will kill APB eventually (or fail to revive it, really). It will also be a lack of vision. More of the same won't cut it. If LO do, at some point, deliver on both, they can pull this horse out of the swamp.

No it's not.  You point and click people, praying you don't get a hacker on the opposing side.  It was fun.  Now its dead and dying.

Half a year with 0 news, why did they even bother making this roadmap?

It tricks the simple minded into thinking there's actually active development / progress, thus causing them to spend money on ARMAS.

It's a predatory, unethical, immoral, and just plain disgusting marketing tactic.

There was a time when the downtime with no mission was NOT a boring time, cause:
1- P5N5 bounty to hunt
2- No out of bound system, crazy stunt car to test.
Plus Ninjaripper full working, who was bored could try to customize and export .

*Everyone complains about APB being stale*
*RIOT introduced as a new game mode*
*Everyone shits on RIOT during the alpha test, doesn't want the game to change at all*
*RIOT cancelled due to nobody giving it a chance*
*Everyone complains about APB being stale again even tho they just had something new*

And thats what you call looking a gift horse in the mouth folks. We had a new mode that with tweaking would have kept the game going just abit longer. But here we are in 2022 with no changes, just what everybody wanted.

hilariously bad take

just about every player gave riot a chance and there were thousands of constructive feedback posts, the responsibility rests solely on little orbit for dumpstering a year's worth of dev time rather than working to improve it

Imagine still not knowing in 2022, that RIOT was literally the reason for LO to """buy""" the game (read: just another K2 rebranding). They just wanted to make a quick buck on the BR hype train, but failed to produce something that was functional on even the most basic level. Failing that, they switched right back into "milk the plebs" mode, albeit with some better PR smoke and mirrors this time.

Riot was wasted development time that could have easily been used on the engine upgrade(or even apb 2) but we all know it was started under G1 so I can't really blame LO for wanting to finish it(even if it was buggy and very laggy) especially if they inherited some g1 devs/employees who obv never had a clue what apb was always lacking. New content won't keep a 12 year old game afloat/alive when its already nearly dead and hasn't received the graphics/performance overhaul that was originally slated for Q2 2014.
