True about the need of have fun or players will quit, but about the k/d ratio that's no valid proof at all, even when it is obvious, but I got x3 and x4 times or more than my teammates in these occasions where I'm teaching the game to my friends or in these occasions when the server puts me in a match against a team of possible newcomers who happens to have bronze and silver badges but are playing with the goldies. Also if I ever drop back to silver and move to bronze districts it happens a lot that the experienced players in both teams are on top of the scoreboard with twice or triple kills than the rest of the players. It pretty much spells: "We can't handle the cheaters, therefore endure our rage". Absolutelly, I think the streamer shouldn't pay for the issues that anyone who is playing with them may have, look at what happened with Lixil's stream for teaming up with the wrong people, and now they blame on her when wasn't her fault at all. I did not know this was going to happen when I posted this article, but there's some relation between both cases where the frustration of players about the cheating issues ends up targeting a relevant figure which leads a lot of people to rage against these who had no clue of what was going on.

Stop listening to loud ones, start to listen to silent ones.
Salvick replied to Mitne's topic in General Discussion Archive
Usually I try to avoid commenting in drama threads but it seems is the only forum content we have these days, and also I apologize because I usually avoid personal remarks against the person who makes a comment when we should discuss about the ideas and not about the people, but you guys are talking like true experts with forum accounts that were created the past month. So what I think is that you guys might have some valid concerns to bring to the forums but you feel you are not being heard because of your forum post count or registration date? Either if you are new players or if you are veterans who just recently joined the forums or just had to reroll a new account, you should know there aren't 2k to 6k active forum members every day as the current ingame population some times does, and even with the 400 to 600 online users we can have around here some times, we don't see +200 new threads every day and not a single topic out there gets more than 50 to 100 comments as much besides the ones that involves discussions with the staff where you can get a few more comments. Then if you check the views count, which I'm not sure but I believe it keeps counting the same users when they visit that thread a different day and also counts guests views, you'll see there's a roughly 1k to 2k views as average for relevant/staff posts with just a few of these getting more views than that, and for community posts you can see anything from 50 to 300 views with maybe a couple hitting +500 exceptions apart. So is not only because a huge amount of players are people who are not used to browse the forums that are not being heard, ergo; the silent ones, also another bunch of people might read some discussions remaining silent just to avoid drama, because they don't feel comfortable commenting publicly here or they simply have any other reason they have to not post anything. I just wanted to comment here to insist with something I keep saying these days, you shouldn't hesitate on create your threads or trying to reach privately with any of the staff members with your concerns guys, no matter your forum posts counts or registration date, but if instead of trying you just waste your time fighting each other between players where will be always natural to find opposite points of view. I don't think someone should feel is not being heard by the staff and other members of the community, but don't expect to have always a nice reply and a lot of 'likes' in your comments, just post and participate giving the best of you and if a discussion is over or it is derailed just move along and keep trying in the next post. I support the idea of listening the silent ones, but also I feel a duty on try to be part of the louder ones to bring ideas and concerns I hear from these silent players I see everyday ingame and in other social networks out of the forums. I think this is a good thread to discuss. Regards everyone. -
I think yes, it happened. Be glad we had that guy with remote psychological skills to describe the personality issues and judge the job of people through internet. But at least we'll make sure no one is happy, not the players who got involved with the staff but neither the ones complaining about not getting involved with the staff, they are even. Hope Matt can reconsider this in the future because the expectations of the community to have a chance to socialize with the staff were high, these players complaining about this are in a need of help.
-
@MattScott please don't take it wrong, I think some players are really happy interacting with the staff of the game and they deserve it, even if I don't agree with something or I just couldn't take part of it, it always makes me happy seeing others having a good time and doing great things to enjoy. I was too late to post my reply in the other thread but had the chance to tell it directly to Lixil and part of what I said was exactly that being able to interact with the players in her personal time will always gets mixed with work, but this is also something unique for most of us and although I barely got a chance myself to play with Lixil or any other member of the staff I've been happy for these players who are getting closer to the management of the game and I that's why I think it is time for this community to adapt and stop bringing the past. Also I think there's a misconception about the competitiveness of this game, it is true that the portion of competitive players are mostly awesome players who wants 'the best' for the game, but APB is also the casual and average players that are looking to chill and socialize and maybe have some relaxed fun, I think there's where people is still feeling they are being ditched away from participating in the community. Indeed you already seen plenty of times how here on forums a lot of times someone brings a concern or an idea and besides if its bad or good, some people is harsh towards other players just because they "are silver", but these players might be simply someone with high latency, bad performance or just a grown person who returned home tired from the work and can't even bother on trying to play competitive but still gets delighted for the visual features and the mechanics of APB. I think that if anything such as the faceoff event, official or public private streaming or simply the GMs offering to play with everyone is going to be arranged, it should be properly announced on forums with some considerable anticipation to let people spread the voice in other social networks were the players are in contact with people who might get interest to return or even bringing new players. My two cents for an issue that I wish didn't happen but hopefully will provide valuable lessons. Edit: as always, thank you so much for your effort towards transparency and communication with this survivor community.

LO Staff should make Noob accounts
Salvick replied to Rebelliousness's topic in General Discussion Archive
Hey @Selali thank you for your clarification, I have to tell you I feel like you are the nice auntie of the family that will sort out any fight we could have, lol. I was about to ask about the QA team in a more direct and perhaps a more comfortable thread, but glad to get your answer on that. For the guys complaining about the staff fraternizing with the players, I think you are totally right with your statement guys, we as players are not tied to anything that could stop someone from rejecting other members of the community from taking part on something. But also I try to put myself in the shoes of anyone who would like to see the staff interacting with the players, indeed I beg for more presence of the staff every chance I have, and I'd say you should just trust the new management until you see the outcome of their actions. There's nothing bad with having players willing to interact with the game staff, and if some players are happy with that then there's no reason to be against them, as long as the LO handles it professionally, and I'm quite sure they do. But seriously, we've been complaining for years about the rude way Tiggs had to handle some stuff, now it feels like we are complaining that they are being way too kind and nice with the players? rofl I'll keep saying the same, the way Little Orbit approached the community made them earn a big respect from a lot of us, and add to that that if we really want some changes to happen, then we should stop comparing actual actions from LO with G1 and put our perspective in the idea that the results are going to be different, and you guys are bringing some concerns that many of us may have in a similar way. -
Sweet. Looks like getting OTW ready for the weapons balance patch. Is that right?

LO Staff should make Noob accounts
Salvick replied to Rebelliousness's topic in General Discussion Archive
This makes me bring a question I was holding for a whole new thread; How is composed the current QA team of APB? Is the LO QA team? Its G1's one? A mix of both? I wonder this because what you said I think is a task for the QA team and not exclusively for the CM. As long as they stick to actual design concepts and not rely on player's opinions, because no matter how experienced a player is, his ideas of the game will be always limited to his own perception and desires, that's how macro goes totally out of control. And besides what people says about Revoemag for not banning certain cheater on that ocassion, back in the days of G1 when they reduced the staff and he was gone, the weapons balance went out of control getting worsen every day they released an incomplete and broken gun as legendary. Edit: some typos. -
I think Queen of Love says 'both' referring about purposely teaming with cheaters and unintentionally doing it. Anyways, I still believe PUBG admins were a bit harsh on banning a player, and particularly a popular streamer, for interacting with a cheater even if it was on purpose, because I think there are better ways to handle it, contacting the player directly should be always an option so he can get a warning and maybe then apply a 3 days or a week ban, something more symbolic to let him know he should actively avoid to do this again. But I think that we as player shouldn't have any responsibility over the abilities or difficulties of the game management to get rid of the cheaters. As part of the community we can report and move along, but other than that if a cheater is joining your mission or a game you are playing, maybe skipping the match going afk or disconnecting just to avoid trouble is the best option. Even when I spot players grouping with cheaters I still don't blame them, of course I don't like them and I always say they shouldn't be supporting cheaters or encourage them to play with them. But the difficulties any developer and game management staff will always face to avoid third-party code on their game shouldn't produce more damage to legit players to what the cheaters issue itself already does.
-
I'm aware of people who plays CSGO that always complain when they get their stats reversed because of a cheater. I wouldn't suggest something like this for APB but I really believe that when you give a temp-ban to certain people, everyone starts behaving better. But while you can ban a cheater based on pure data, you shouldn't inquire people about who are they grouping with in the game. But also it happens in this particular case that I don't think the streamer deserved that ban, because honestly is not our responsibility to go chasing cheaters around when we are expecting to enjoy the fun of a game and relax, and if someone gets an unfair advantage from interacting with cheaters, then removing the unfairly obtained items and currencies is acceptable but blocking him from the game only adds more stress to what the presence of that blatant cheater and the fear of getting in trouble already was.
-
I'm willing to know what others think about this: https://www.pcgamer.com/popular-streamer-michael-shroud-grzesiek-gets-banned-for-playing-pubg-with-a-hacker I think what this streamer stated later after the ban is in some way necessary to be said, when the cheaters can last so long that other players even start to interact with them, in my opinion is what could lead to a rampage on hackusations which then leads to more people cheating 'to hunt down the cheaters' or just in a rage, which then makes impossible to detect experienced cheaters because the admins are busy chasing after these noobs rerolling who are always making it obvious. But also when there are actions taken against them and everybody else can see it, it serves as a warning for other people before they attempt to support any form of cheating. The article itself does not tell much more than what most of us already think about this issue, but I'm curious to know what others think too. Also, one thing is if someone gets banned for purposely teaming up with a cheater, right? But what if someone gets banned for unintentionally teaming up with a cheater instead?

/Report function removed to Promote cheaters?
Salvick replied to Dead_Game's topic in General Discussion Archive
Excuse me, I'm not looking to antagonize with you but I need to ask this, because when people says exactly what you said it makes me wonder; How do you know who, how, when and why people is using the /report function? I honestly ask because I always see people saying this, but actually when you see someone asking everyone else to /report a player nobody pays attention, and also I don't understand what is what people is so concerned about if they get reported or not. If someone spams the /report function is his problem, why would you care? I don't get it. -
/Report function removed to Promote cheaters?
Salvick replied to Dead_Game's topic in General Discussion Archive
Besides I think some items of this thread could be a bit more detailed I'm surprised to read that /report function has been removed. But I take it as that they are about to implement something new really soon. Let's see what happens, is not like the /report function ever worked at all in the first place anyways. Now more in the topic of the company 'supporting cheaters', I think is more likely the company is supporting its players by trying to avoid false bans. Although I'm honestly curious to understand when they talk about false positives if they are relying exclusively in the results of their own LO's QA team testing the anticheat or if there are also players involved in this, because the 'false positives' thing has been always a controversy when these words came from another player and not the developers or the game management. But I think the way the new management approaches the community really makes them earn all that respect from us, is not patootie kissing, I mean we must be thankful that this time they are keeping us on track about everything, and that's the reason why even you with your thread will be heard by them so it is a good idea to take your chance to be as detailed, polite and clear as you can to let them address these issues the best they can imo. Regards. -
Yo mean like, once you maxed out your character you have the choice to turn to the other faction? Sounds like fun, but I really don't think is possible due to the multiple layers of data involved, not sure if I express myself properly here, but I mean about the data base stored data along with the functionalities such as different restrictions and bonded features for each faction, considering there might be different data bases for Armas purchases, ingame marketplace, player stats and items/inventory indexation I guess. I think they could set the steps to process this by clearing all the equipped clothes and items, removing any faction-restricted weapons such as LTL guns and cars with sirens from enfos, and whatever you can think of, but is still something that could not worth for both the company and the player. At the end, how hard is to just create a new character for the same purpose while the character slots is also the main feature to motivate players to buy more stuff from Armas that otherwise we wouldn't be buying if we wouldn't have any extra characters I think. But I'm just guessing here, I really don't know.

Where/how did you get that btw? I tried a quick search in the APBDB/Vault but couldn't find this info so just posted that old picture I had. And would be useful for the OP too.
-
Oh really? I just had that image from the times of Revoemag tweaking guns and weapons, guess this was updated and I was totally unaware, notice the date in my picture says 2013, lol. Thanks Cookie! OP: What Cookie said ^

Yeah, absolutely agreed there, there is a form of harassment but is still harassment and not a simple hackusation. Otherwise we'd be spreading fear among those newcomers and also experienced players who would like to claim someone is cheating, even when they might be wrong, but this way they could be afraid of getting banned for hackusating and stop expressing any thoughts they have about their experience playing. We need the community to be vocal about this, if someone thinks a player is cheating it should allow both parties to understand what things the other player do or see that makes someone else thinks is cheating. I always turn my chat hud to the tabs I have with /d and even /w turned off, that's the right practice when it comes to hackusations and even the primary forms of harassment imo.

Not at all, even shooting between legs in the blank space takes damage, here's a picture of what the hitbox looks like that I took from another thread: Edit: And right as N66 said, there are several factors regarding damage taken, so I'm adding this graphic about Clothing Agent and normal health regen curves to understand this as well:

naturally, any doubts? pleeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz?

I can tell a bunch of these I was expecting them to kick my butt really surprised me going negative or even finishing with 0 kills against my average casual player game style. ^_^

Come on, at least click that vote thingy, you know is just a joke I'm playing here.

Hello guys, today I'm gonna show you how to manipulate the poll results on a given thread. This is gonna take me some time so I will first bring a poll for everyone to vote. Lately I'll update this thread with the information on how to do this and the manipulated results will be exposed along with a last comment to bump the thread so you notice the update. Let's see if I can show you this in a couple of hours/days/weeks. Please vote!

I just suspected a very few wallhackers and noticed couple of macros, but what was more noticeable was the amount of these idling in Social that eventually disappeared and haven't seen them again since more than a week or two. That made me think where would they be...never posted on FFBans myself but used to check there frequently in search of known miscreants. ('miscreants' I don't know why, but I love that word...'miscreants'... lol )
