Always play with friends. Maybe even join a clan if you don't have friends. Soloing is very annoying in APB.

You forgot that it's an engine upgrade and not a graphics update. Nobody promised that it would look better than live.

Probably because LO acknowledged that the current engine is a big mess and they allowed anybody to fiddle with the settings, making the field even more uneven, in the hope that people will not enrage from that decision until Unreal Engine 3.5 comes out. I am very sad by this decision, but it is what it is.

I am willing to test that theory if @CookiePusssend me his configuration.

I wonder, if @CookiePussfound a sweet spot config that makes game run smoother and doesn't alter the game mechanics, why @MattScottdoesn't ship the game with that config so everybody can be happy and enjoy a smooth gameplay?

That's the problem @CookiePuss. The game itself is a bad mess, handicapping the majority of players that don't fiddle with config. I can't blame you for wanting to remove the handicap for yourself, but as we talk about a PvP game and matchmaking doesn't take into consideration if people are using custom config or not, that move is creating an uneven playfield. The problem with APB is the lack of consistency when you're not using custom config. It's rare for someone to have smooth gameplay with the default config. However the question of the original poster was if removing things like fog should be considered as cheating and not if fixing the game for your PC is considered as cheating. Although I don't agree with that separation, I will follow it and go a step beyond: When people turn game into potato graphics, there is less clutter for the eye to follow (apart for getting smooth as butter gameplay) thus making gameplay easier for the user, thus still categorized as cheating from where I come from.

Is it ok in regards that people might bump into this video (is not unlisted on YouTube) and think that APB looks like that. The already bad advertised game, gets more bad advertising thanks to videos like this.

I wasn't going to reply here, but after recent events, I decided to take a public stance. I agree with @PoundOfFlesh that RIOT won't help the game population going up, but if they released it so they can have our opinion on this and have the devs getting something out and learn from it, then, in my opinion, they did right, as we know that the Unreal Engine 3.5 is by no means delayed by that action. I disagree with @PoundOfFlesh on the aspect of attacking and enraging on everybody that doesn't rage with him, like something good will get out of it and confusing our patience as being on opposite sides. People have different tolerances, I understand that some people need to vent, but there must be a limit.

Where is the frame stuttering when you engage the enemy caused by low memory, high CPU utilization and visual effects? Ah... Advanced Launcher with everything low... Meh. Playing APB in fluid mode...
