  1. Agreed. Sort of. Letting people freely bounce between districts in other regions would be ideal in my opinion. However the game just plain doesn't like that in the slightest. They'd have to do a good deal of work before they could even consider it a viable option. Then again there was a bug that hinted at some degree of functionality for this. Colby servers would sometimes show up in Joker's instance selection menu. Whether there was any intended behavior behind that code is up in the air. My guess is a strong no. It does however hint that there may be potential for such a solution to at least kinda-sorta work in APB:R. Been pushing hard for them to investigate it ever since that bug reared it's head countless times over. Not sure if they ever poked around a bit to see if something useful couldn't come from that error. Really wish it would turn out to be something beneficial. Or had as the case may be. Don't know the outcome of all that. Letting everyone play together on an instance of their choosing would be amazing.
  2. They are effectively SPCM. Similar list of duties and responsibilities. They do not seemingly have the power to do much of anything on their own. More a conduit to help relay information to or from. Far as I can gauge they are an extra layer to help keep things in order. A more direct route between player and GM where necessary. Also they do the whole answering questions thing SPCM's used to spend all day doing. Source:
  3. Is it bad if I preferred FairFight? The concept of it at it's core. Not the implementation old G1 left collapsing in on itself for so very long. Clearly running in a state it shouldn't have been. Along with bans being operated in a rather questionable manner, to say the least. Behavioral analytics can yield absurdly solid results if done properly. Not being reliant on detecting the cheat directly, but instead finding the patterns themselves is something cheaters can't really evade anywhere near as effectively. It can also shore up the whole problem with obscure cheats going undetected for long spans of time. I really fail to see the direct benefit of more traditional solutions over it. Except as an extra layer of prevention. Not to say that the current solution isn't doing something. I couldn't tell you one way or the other. I haven't been too terribly active, and yeah. Not a clue. Maybe it is better or maybe it's worse.
  4. The first example can be explained very easily. APB:R calculates your crosshair at 10m. With it being a, more or less, expanding cone. Meaning that the crosshair size is not an accurate representation of your probability to hit past that distance in some cases. Especially with weapons that have low accuracy. The accuracy isn't the problem here. In-fact it helps keep weapons balanced and niches that otherwise wouldn't be available to exist. That said the representation shown is absolutely horrible. That's the aspect I think needs to be revamped. Not the entire games weapon balance (well... that's another issue entirely). Was going to say more but I feel like this type of thing has been discussed as naseum at this stage. Just can't bring myself to do it. That said Little Orbit may find this sort if thing invaluable. Probably gives all kinds of insight that is otherwise a royal pain in the arse to find. If it can be found in detail at all. Keep it up!
  5. apbdb.com is outdated. Use db.apbvault.net instead. That is kept up-to-date. Whereas the other one hasn't been in a very long time. It sounds like you are going off old information and letting that heavily influence your perceived experiences in APB.
  6. It's in a VERY good state right now. A secondary pistol with low range, but an extremely quick TTK that gives even primary shotguns a beatdown in many cases. Thing is a monster (for what it is) if you can get used to it. It's designed to be an effective gun in very close ranges. If you find yourself regularly using it outside of it's effective range you may want to try out a different secondary. Alternatively if you really want one with more range I'd look around for the JMB variant. The Showstopper 'Thunder'. Has tighter pellet spread, and 22m range. Downside is the TTK is much higher at 1.02s.
  7. Random thoughts : most of which has been mentioned a billion times already in this thread 1.) The event appears to be entirely luck based from what I and others have experienced. Makes me wonder if it isn't possible to set the skin as a weighted reward. With the rate increasing based on ones score. Encouraging everyone to give it their best shot, and winning the gun game still being valuable. Ideally with a ratio that resulted in at most, roughly, one winner per match. Should be adequate data to get a good guideline on where to set that bar. I mean it may result in some matches not rewarding the skin. However I fail to see that as an issue given the extremely high joker ticket payout being worthwhile regardless. Alternatively it could be set a bit too high. Making the skin less rare, and running the risk of multiple skins per match. However that'd still serve to help resolve the primary issue of how it is now. With needing the damn stars to align in order to get the skin - maybe. 2.) Spawn distances could be tightened up a lot. When I was participating it wasn't uncommon to be spawned up to 200m+ away from the objective. This has been mentioned a few times. Just wanted to bring it up again.. it's a huge issue. It was preventing me from participating in any real capacity. 3.) Please, please, please try to make some sort of indicator for the boundaries. I don't know how feasible it is, but yeah. I know similar-ish stuff exists in some form or another in APB already. Of course I'm not sure in the damn slightest if it could be adapted in this case. Just one of those things that would help things play out a lot more smoothly. Irritating beyond belief to have someone suddenly go grey during a fight, or you to step out of the area, or suddenly have everyone and their grandmother go red around you.
  8. Which I have to imagine won't come back unless they decide to add more player created items to the joker store again. Was intended to be an ongoing thing that just never really happened. Making it the second rarest skin in the game if I recall correctly. With only the golden SPCT skin beating it out. Quite amusing really.
  9. That seems like an exaggeration. I'm all for giving credit where it is due, and this isn't one of those cases. Old G1 had same faction stuff going on in their previous events too. Things like the horseman event would qualify. Even if they weren't full on battles it still had the same mechanics going on in it.
  10. Could've sworn that was something they've wanted to do for ages. Yet for one reason or another just haven't. Maybe they forgot?
  11. Technically that was under Tiggs' rule. The new team wasn't responsible for that one far as I know? There's nothing too terribly inconsistent about that. If anything the new team is showing that they aren't keen on making the same mistakes a second time around. Of course if they ever got around to giving a different version of it to the contest winners with a special coloration or something that'd be nice. But.. eh. They weren't the ones to blame for it. Nor do I think they should have to fix every little mistake the old team made. Long as they keep trying their best to do right by their long-term players going forward I'm happy. Yeah that's something I didn't even think about. Previously it didn't offer anything to some of the people who've been around since the start. Now it does.
  12. Don't share your opinion on the first part, but I gotta say I respect it. The other part I'm in full agreement on. More things are always good. Though I suppose either way it was something new to most people. Hm. Still!
  13. Still not a huge fan of the choice of weapon skin being used for this. Yeep. Is what it is. Beyond that I'm just plain happy to see some popular forms of content getting more attention. Hopefully it'll bring back at least a few players. If the positive feedback is any indication, it very well might.
  14. Comes down to personal preference, no? I like the slower pulse effect more than I think I would like it being faster.
  15. That explains a lot. Was encountering some very weird behavior with guns using this modification earlier today and didn't quite piece it together.
  16. Got that one as my daily too. It's overly difficult to kill a barrel carrier, and it doesn't seem to count a lot of criteria that would otherwise qualify. Regardless of what I tried it seemed to remain at 0/3. Fun times. Random garbage: This type of thing really makes me wish there was some sort of volunteer testing for patches. I recall finding countless issues of this variety during my time in the SPCT. With an even crazier amount found by others. Sure not everything was noticed, but patches ended up being in far better states with actual players putting the game through it's paces. As opposed to what we got with this unfortunately buggy event. I feel as if the QA team isn't too terribly well versed in what to look for/and or the team coding it all was rushed. Whereas longtime players would at least likely be able to point out more of the issues prior to it being released. I miss doing BVT's
  17. At a glance I'm not really seeing anything terribly appealing about the new pricing. Seems to have resulted in large price hikes in a lot of cases. Not quite sure what to think of it. Tad confusing if anything. Have to say I'm liking the new design at least. Looks a good bit cleaner, and runs better. Doesn't have long awkward delays between everything. Though I do agree with everyone that total premium days absolutely do need to be displayed.
  18. @MattScott I haven't the slightest clue if any of the following has been brought up elsewhere. Haven't really had a whole mess of time to devote to keeping track of all things APB recently. Sorry if it has. Given what is coming with the update on the 30th, wouldn't it make sense to do some sort of e-mail campaign to notify folks of it? Maybe even slap in a free 1 day premium code. Might be a solid way to get people to both give the new mode a spin to use up that free premium AND give more incentive to purchasing something on the updated store. After all this update seems like it'll hit two major points of contention with people: the lack of new content and poor armas pricing structure.
  19. I could see some vehicles health being tweaked slightly as a potentially good thing. Enough that they are in a rougher state after taking a beating. Yet not to the point of outright exploding like they once used to. Even then I'm extremely iffy on that idea. There's a good reason why vehicle health was buffed ages ago. It was downright annoying. I'm mostly wholly against any kind of buff to the OSMAW. It is in a very, very good state right now. It's got niche uses with some minor potential outside of that if one truly wishes to do so. The downsides work, and yeah. I don't want to see something that is right where it should be ruined just because.
  20. Completely lost on that first part. Something got lost in translation there, or my stupid self just plain can't make sense of it. Anyways a green version of it where the "blood" glowed would be kinda awesome! Would go well with that whole toxic theme they have going on in their teasers.
  21. I do believe this has been known for many years. I recall the developers themselves stating that the bars do not display anywhere near correct values. Nor have they ever really. Going to bet that this is something they can't remedy all that easily until the new engine is ready. That the UI elements for it are hooked into the most absurd things possible. Making it a living nightmare to even attempt fixing it now. Certainly wouldn't be the first time some legacy RTW spaghetti code caused them trouble.
  22. You can't really use that as an all encompassing answer and call it a day. Just look at the guns for some solid examples of where your explanation falls short. Norsemen - never used because it is terrible. Now if we were talking about the ISSR-b - amazing gun that is still overlooked. Have to go case by case with these things, and in this situation I simply cannot agree. The (now going to be reverted)changes to IR3 left it functioning as a better heavy barrel. A modification that received an overly heavy-handed nerf was more functional. That to me signals a core design flaw with the modification. It's only useful in very, very niche situations and even then is overshadowed by the other red modifications. That's not something that "just isn't used", that's something that is in an incredibly poor state. I would argue it has been the underdog modification in desperate need of love since G1 first got the game. I remember way back when my "Below-Zero" released and it got railed for having HB3 on it. It was intentionally given that as a less than ideal modification. Yeah. That's how poorly heavy barrel has been viewed and for how long. The developer I pitched that idea to agreed it was a solid choice for a sub-optimal yet workable configuration. That mod was the go-to for that exact purpose.
