Beating your meat

If you go to your account settings on the gamersfirst website you can setup two factor authorization (2FA). This way you have to generate a verification code on your phone with an app (like Google or Microsoft Authenticator) which you have to type in before every login. This way "hackers" would need your phone too to get access to your account which makes it extra difficult for them.

Where is this engine update??????
PLAYLUXE replied to marcovrb111's topic in General Discussion Archive
It's in my left pocket -
Remove all action districts - problem solved

What difference does it make anyways. As soon as the engine upgrade is done you'll get notified via newsletter.

This issue is already know and can only be fixed fixed with the engine upgrade since the actual engine doesn't support raytracing

Please upgrade to unreal engine 5 k thx bye

It would be nice if there was an option in the menu to disable any licensed ingame music completely (including radio of other players). This is an important feature for streamers and content creators so they can avoid copyright strikes on video platforms.

It may have been expensive but only because of budget mismanagement. If you'd develop the game today without doing those mistakes and with current technology it would be much cheaper to produce.

Thanks for the info. In that case I'm glad to make it accessible again for everyone here since it answers so many questions about this game and it's unique history.

Matt might be a pro but ofc he should get support. It'll even make it easier for him to find employees. As it looks right now the engine upgrade won't be finished within the next 3-5 years anyway since devs don't even know what they're dealing with. According to the engine upgrade progress thread their is always a new huge problem which throws them back big time. So they might as well start from scratch with sustainable clean code which will also be easier to maintain and expandable in the future.

Dunno if this has been posted before, at least I couldn't find anything similar. Here's an interesting article from "The Guardian" with insights on why developing APB was so unnecessarily expensive and how much went wrong while development - with statements from RTW ex-employees: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/gamesblog/2010/aug/27/realtime-worlds-collapse

This article will give you insight on why this game was so expensive back then: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/gamesblog/2010/aug/27/realtime-worlds-collapse Their budget was way too high back then. That's why they spent so much on it - because of wrong decisions. Developing the game with todays technology would also be much cheaper since lots of tools didn't existed back then and had to be crafted exclusively for this game. Now you can use existing third-party solutions or outsource tasks to develop cheaper and faster.

Please read everything before commenting What if Little Orbit: - deletes APB Reloaded completely (including accounts, progress etc.) - develops the game entirely from scratch with Unreal Engine 4/5 - compensates every player after release of the new game with the amount of credits they spend in the old version of APB This way devs don't have to waste their time by working through junk code from RTW/G1 times. Instead they focus on developing the game on current technology with clean code. Also it might be easier to find new employees since new blood devs are more likely to have learned working with newer versions of Unreal Engine rather then older versions. And with the compensation, starting from beginning won't be a big deal for players since they can re-purchase everything. And they can re-explore the game with all it's new features and optimizations while working their way back to the top.

Roadmap 2021: - surviving Corona But seriously: Developing a game takes around 5 years. And since Reloaded Games didn't do anything for engine upgrade, LO had to start from scratch. 2023 would be a realistic estimation for release date atm.

What do you expect? They're a small team trying to un-fck up the situation G1/Reloaded Games created. Even if they temporarily have to shut down the servers, so what? Their only priority now is and should be the engine upgrade. And as long as Matt keeps deliverying status updates, we should be grateful that someone at least tries to rescue this game. I know there's no real alternative to APB (in terms of character/car customization alone...). If you're not happy with the actual state of the game, keep playing something else for a year or two until you get the notification that the engine upgrade is ready. And only then we'll get more content and anti-cheat solutions which makes absolutely sense. Because the more stuff they integrate now the more stuff they have to move to the new engine - resulting in an endlesss moving process.

APB Brand and IP expanding in Asia
PLAYLUXE replied to MattScott's topic in General Discussion Archive
Why didn't you just sold the rights for "APB: Mobile" if Unit Games is only making a mobile version anyway? This way you lost the opportunity to rename the game back to "APB" which would've made much more sense. -
+1 to that The game itself defenitely needs that engine upgrade and a general overhaul. But right after that the devs have to give the players some tools like a video editor, private districts for undisturbed filming etc. so that we can to the advertising for them by showing how awesome this game is by creating and sharing videos online. But of course this requires that the players are so satisfied and convinced by this game that they really can identify themselves with it.

Greetings everyone, I'd like to suggest to rename "APB:Reloaded". Not just because we have a new publisher and to get rid of the bad memories with GamersFirst, but also because the actual name isn't "mouth propaganda" friendly. An example from my everyday life: People: Hey, do you play video games? Me: Yes, I do. People: Cool, which games do you play? Me: APB: Reloaded. People: What? ABP..what? Me (louder): APB: RELOADED. People: Never heard of that... An observation I made is that almost all players use to say "Let's play APB" instead of "Let's play APB:Reloaded", which was originally the name of this game. The "Reloaded" is just an unnecessary adjunct and makes the name harder to pronounce. So one suggestion would be to rename the game back to "APB", also to make it more marketable. Another alternative would be to make a survey where everyone can submit suggestions. At the end, we'll vote for the best name. Best regards PLAYLUXE
