  1. EAC used to show what software component was blocked. Now it shows a generic message. There's nothing displayed in the logs either. 1. Download and run a blocked application, such as Process Monitor by Microsoft. 2. Launch APB using your preferred method. 3. Observe the uninformative error message. "An error has occured. #4"

    LtL Conversion Mod

You'd need to prevent it from being used on shotguns and LMGs. Those will perform significantly better than CCG and NL-9. The other weapons might be fine if both factions can stun and arrest. It will be unbalanced with only enforcers having ltl. You'll gain accuracy and stamina damage (per mag) over the current ltl weapons, which doesn't sound balanced.
  3. Thank you for moving this topic to the dead section of the forums where it will never be looked at again.
  4. The area it scans to see what the player is aiming at is huge. You can have clear line of sight between the projectile's start point and whatever is in the center of the crosshair, but the game will angle the projectile as if you're aiming at the closer object. Stupid easy to fix, but the devs rather work on something complicated that won't improve the game, like this new matchmaking system, where they disabled all the problematic parts of matchmaking on the test servers.
  5. I've had my GTX 1080 get stuck at minimum clockspeeds since APB doesn't have a lot of graphics load. At 3440x1440p this shouldn't a problem, but check your GPU clock speed while in game. GPU boost is the problem. You can try locking the GPU to max clocks, but this can cause instability with some factory overclocked GPUs. In Asylum, turning off dynamic shadows doubles my fps in some areas. Same with central park in Financial. I think it's due to the transparent textures on the fencing and trees.
  6. APB has been running terrible since the 11/08/23 patch. When I join a district, I get about 150 to 180 fps, but the fps slowly goes down. At about 80fps average is when it becomes unplayable. It stutters, it's not just low fps. The more players in the area, the lower the fps and the more stuttering. Only difference with my PC after this patch is the OS. I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Other games like Counter Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, Project Zomboid, and Rust, run roughly the same as on Windows 7. The same stuttering occurs running APB through Proton on various Debian based Linux distros. What I noticed is APB has one thread that is constantly pegging one CPU core at 100%. This is not normal behavior. Prior to 11/08/23, APB would have two CPU cores at about 90%. Now, it looks like those cores rarely go over 80%. You can see this in the resource monitor screenshots below. Two cores/threads drop usage when I alt-tab. I'm guessing these are the two rendering threads for APB. CPU 0 keeps spiking to 100%. CPU 2 and CPU 7 drop after alt-tab. CPU 0 stuck at 100%, then it switches to CPU 10. CPU 8 and CPU 11 drop after atl-tab. Various troubleshooting attempts. Hardware: - Increased RAM from 12GB to 24GB (6x4GB, 2133MHz, triple channel quad rank) Drivers: - Updated all drivers. GPU, Chipset, NIC, Nvme, Raid, Audio, etc. - Downgraded Nvidia drivers from 546.17 to 472.12 (Version installed on Windows 7). - Used NVCleanstall to install Nvidia drivers with bare minimum components. (Same config as Windows 7) - Disabled "Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator" driver. This can fix stuttering with some hardware configurations. No difference for me. Software Settings: - Nvidia: Configured Nvidia Control Panel to match Windows 7 configuration. - Disabled Fullscreen optimization for APB.exe. This increased average fps. It did NOT fix the stuttering. APB Configs: - 100% Vanilla. I deleted all .ini files and repaired the game through the launcher. Still stutters. System Specs: - CPU: Xeon W3690 @4.25GHz - RAM: 24GB DDR3 2133Mhz - GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Stock clocks - OS: Windows 10 - Storage: Toshiba SSD 480GB (OS) Samsung 960 EVO 500GB (Games)

    Plz nerf OP guns!

Colby .45 had it's range nerfed. FR0G had it's range slightly buffed to put it between the .45 and FBW. Oscar had it's range nerfed. OBIR had it's range nerfed, print shoot delay added, weapons switch delay added, and rate of fire reduced years ago. PMG had it's ranged nerfed, plus other changes I can't remember. OCA Nano is between the FBW and .45. It doesn't bloom each shot so you can out shoot an FBW at 30M, but it's ttk is 1s so it will get out shot by the .45. What I would do is reduce the Nano's draw time. I wouldn't nerf the other weapons.
  8. Another Windows 10 problem is input lag with DX9 games. Windowed mode has over 30ms input lag. There is no solution, just workarounds like playing in fullscreen, which also has issues. Fullscreen is not exclusive fullscreen, so there's still some noticeable input lag. You have to disable fullscreen optimizations for all games. You can do this automatically with a script. Also, most guides claim it's the Xbox DVR app. It's not. The same problem is on the LTSC Enterprise builds, which don't have the Xbox app. With Windows 7, just launch the game. No special settings required.
  9. Anything about the performance problems introduced with the EAC update? Social crashed a few minutes ago.
  10. From what I remember, Reloaded couldn't get the transaction information to transfer all the weapons. Besides, those weapons would have been matched up with the Reloaded version.
  11. Any word on the performance loss caused by the EAC patch on 11/08/23? The frame rate slowly decreases over time. 1 CPU core gets pegged at 100% usage, while all other cores are below 20% usage. This is not normal behavior. Prior to that patch, APB would run 2 CPU cores at about 80-90%, and the rest between 10-30%. I could leave APB open for 6+ hours in the background and have zero performance degradation. Now the framerate loss is noticed within 30 minutes.
  12. The Steam client didn't need a web browser. All it needed was a way to authenticate end users to give them access to their purchased games. All else is bloat. Steam has a commandline based app called SteamCMD. It can run on XP. It lets you download games, but has no way to authenticate. Ironically, you can download every game Steam offers, even ones that are hidden from the store. It makes it easier to sail the seas by getting the original game files. but does nothing to help you play games you own on Steam. Security? Lol. You can run Steam games through proton on Linux with the most insecure configuration. The reality is it's not profitable to keep someone around who knows how to develop on the old systems. People who know those systems are better off running their own company or working for the US government. There's plenty of old systems there.
  13. Like I said in the previous test thread. I can run this test with a single workstation. Run as many VMs as you want. Run them all in linux. We're not testing cross district matchmaking, we're not testing game performance, so no need to test with real players. Also, most people's test accounts are going to have the wrong threat applied. No one is going to play enough missions on the test server to equalize their threat. Even then, there's no way for players to compare the existing system to this new one, because we can't see the real threat value, only a solid color. And your forum editor is still broken. It decided to randomly post my comment while I was in the middle of typing. Maybe I accidentally hit Enter, but I doubt it since this keyboard requires 70g of force to press a key. Game runs like crap since the 11/8/23 EAC update. I have a W3680. Friends have between 7th Gen i7 to 13th gen i5. All of us experience the same low fps during missions. It's not nessessarily just low fps, it's choppy. 80fps feels like 30 or lower when the fps drop happens. For my PC, I don't know if it's Epic Online Services or Windows 10 causing the issue, but for my friends they had 10 prior and didn't have as many fps drops before the update. I couldn't stay connected to EU Financial but EU Waterfrontran fine. One friend kept DC'ing on US servers, depsite having 10ms to US West and less than 90ms to US East. I've had multiple people complain about hitreg in /w and on discord. The one guy was screaming about his shots not hitting me, then all of a sudden I see him peak the corner and min ttk me, as if the server was running seconds behind.
  14. It could be incompetence, but hiding ban discussion looks like malice. It's better for LO to let those threads die out on their own. Do the in game GM's have forum mod power too? I can't see why paid staff would go out of their way to delete a thread rather than lock it with a general reply.
  15. Way too late. I had moved my account to Nexon, but then missed the date to move it to Papaya. I don't recommend playing it now. The netcode was switched from peer to peer, to peer to server. There's no more kill trading, and hit registration is god awful. I loved the p2p netcode because when you killed the other player and you didn't die, it meant you reacted first on both your screen and your opponents screen. They removed kill trading. Now close gunfights comes down to who the server decides to favor.
  16. He's pretty bad at money grubbing. Free premium. Additional weapons in joker store with more ways to earn JT. Removed the addictive loot boxes. I would have at least left the joker boxes. Can't let beached whales go to waste.
  17. You have to consistently score higher than the rest of the players in each mission. I think the threat system compares your threat to the other players threats as well. If you do good compared to lower threat players, your threat won't go up as much. If you do good against higher threat players, your threat will go up faster. Each threat level has a wide range of hidden values. Many years ago we used to have threat levels 1 to 10 for each threat. These values are still there but hidden. You can't tell how much of a threat difference there is between each player. You might have been Silver 8 and are now Silver 9 after that mission, but you can't see that change.
  18. It's the end users fault for everyone who has the invisible mission markers. I have never had it happen, so it must be their fault.
  19. I wouldn't refer to what windows 10 does as "run". More like walks with two canes with no legs, and is an alcoholic suffering from dementia. It can't remember any settings between updates. Always reverts stuff back to default. It wiped my user profile on multiple PCs. It's broken itself after an update. The stupid thing goes into sleep mode while in the middle of patching, breaking itself. I've imaged 1000s of PCs, and every time there's an update some of them fail at updating or simply break. All the same base image with minimal software differences. Same hardware. All the same group policy. I'd trust Windows ME over 10 for stability.
  20. I'll start! What's the point of having this test if you've disabled most features of the matchmaking system? This test can be done on a single workstation with 1 user. Load up multiple APB clients in virtual machines. The best results will be no different than when two gold groups keep getting each other over and over like they currently do on live.
  21. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give Nobara a try when the drive comes in. I forgot to mention my monitor. It's 1440 144hz. That can be a struggle for my GPU. In windows it's 30% worst case.
  22. Not without risking a ban. Technically you can run APB in a virtual machine. but it requires making the VM look like a physical machine to bypass EAC's VM detection. LO can allow virtual machines to be used, but that opens another security hole, not that there isn't a giant one already by not having server sided anti-cheat measures. I'm another Windows 7 user. Windows 7 was the last working OS from Microsoft. 8, 8.1, 10, all broke themselves during updates. Windows 11 looks like Mac but crashes like Windows ME.
  23. I'm a Linux noob. I just read the manual to get the OS up and running, X11. No, I haven't tried with the compositor turned off. I tried using Proton 8 (Steam's), GE-Proton 8-5, and GE-Proton 23. They all ran about the same, on the 525 Nvidia driver. GE-Proton 23 loaded on 535 Nvidia driver, but performance was still bad, if not worse. I overwrote the install with Windows 10 LTSC (year 2019 release) just to get APB working with the EAC update. I'll get another SSD and try it again. I'm not sure which distro to go with. Any suggestions? I have Mint in a virtual machine for testing, and I've used Ubuntu for work, but like I said very little experience overall. I like Kubuntu's layout, but the window icons were buggy. For example, Firefox would use the default min max close buttons, instead of the ones I set in the settings. I also didn't like having tons of default apps installed. On Windows, I get over 100fps average, usually over 150fps. Edge of the districts can get over 200fps if there's not a lot of players nearby. System Specs: CPU: Xeon W3680 Motherboard: Evga X58 SLI RAM: 12GB DDR3 2133Mhz (Can run 24GB 1866Mhz, if needed) GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 Storage: - 480GB SSD Sata (OS) - 500GB SSD Sata (Scratch Disk) - 500GB SSD NVMe (Games)
  24. EDIT: Fixed the flickering by installing Nvidia driver version 525. Still have the fps stutters. The game randomly goes from 128 solid to 80fps or lower. It drops lower when moving the mouse, but I don't think the mouse movement is the cause. The fps drops when I move my mouse. Stays steady at 128fps if I don't provide any input. The screen constantly flickers. Other guides say to enable "Force Full Composition Pipeline" in Nvidia settings. This causes the audio and video to freeze when the game is in focus. Kubuntu 23.10 GE-Proton8-5 and Proton 8.0 (steam) Nvidia Driver 535.129.03
