New JMB legendary drop rate and disclosure

lootboxes should just be Illegal.

They are, in some places. In others (especially the US, where anyone of relevance to the lawmaking can easily just be bribed), it's been a failing prospect.

Hi all,

If you haven't seen the news, Microsoft and Sony will be requiring us to disclose the drop rates for loot boxes.

https://www.theverge.com/2019/8/7/20758626/nintendo-microsoft-sony-loot-box-drop-rate-disclosure-video-games

Previously Joker Mystery Boxes had a legendary drop rate of .5% (1 in 200).

However when we launched the New Glory, I wanted to make the drop rate more common, so we increased the rate to .8% (1 in 125).

Effective immediately, I am making the decision to standardize the legendary drop rate across all JMBs to 1% (1 in 100) across all platforms.

We will also be following Microsoft and Sony's guidelines to  be posting that information publicly for all players to read before they purchase them.

These changes are live.

Now before I get flooded with messages asking for refunds, please understand that we can't do that. This is just one more way that we are attempting to reduce abusive monetization practices. We have already improved the G1C currency exchange, lowered pricing on ARMAS, and more recently added 80+ guns to the Joker Store so that players can now get permanent guns with Joker Tickets. I appreciate all the players that purchased JMBs over the years.

Thanks,
Matt

Did you add the guns on xbox?

Most likely not yet, but that should probably come when the major updates hit consoles at some point in the future

We adjusted the drop rate for xbox JMBs too.

But JMB21 and JMB22 are not yet supported on console till we get an update approved.

GM's back in the day used to go around telling people it's a 5% chance to get a legendary from jmb's. I know you guys are not responsible for that but, wow.

wow, so averagely 200€ per legendary maybe some less with the right G1C packs, pretty, hefty price we had. I guess  BOGO and G1C sales lowered that still wow.

Then I got a ursus from the golden JMB rewards and traded it for the one I wanted.

@MattScott

The question is, what amount of money needs APB to make to be a proper product, and what can we do to make people spent it on to compensate the lack of JMB's.

JMB's cater to whales, and whales usually run the most part of the income.

Not surer how much of a company secret you want to make out of it, but would you tell us how mich % of income come from whales spending big money and what comes from regular players, spendign small amounts and what comes from premium.

Also, what encouragements could we make to have people go premium and keep premium?

For creators it's pretty important, and for those just doing their character once it is a one time short investment.

Maybe something like Witchqueen said but not making the Legendaries be a Permadrop. Instead Legendaries could be like 14 day weapons as possible contact drop. or better, grant a chance for another currency to drop if someone has premium (like golden Joker tickets) and then Legendaries can be bought with only these. This prevents frustrating other random things to happen.

Further, we should anways talk about the ingame economy.  With player 2 player trade and lease weapons being available with JT money sink, or the lack of it could become issues.

Whatever you guys do, don't kill legendaries all together or release them in other ways because after the Armas weapons releashed in the Joker Tickets store it will be the final time this game has ever seen G1C from people who paid for them. Already too many times I got screwed over on legendary boxes like Tiggs give away and the Medusa's.

You folks should consider in adding joker tickets to the loot pool of joker boxes, feels like an wasted opportunity.

disclose the gold power box loyalty drop rate as well.

you are legally obligated to do so now, just a reminder, but clearly you already know that...

seriously, man up, cause that is a pay to win box, i've got approximately six legendaries all but two maybe three from those golden boxes, it's gotta be like 25% or better.

first of all, that's simply not true, they are literally legally compelled, i will involve my lawyers if needed.

i can report the violation to the appropriate authority and see what they say in that case then.

that would be steam, at the very least and a pretty nasty report for the developers to have to deal with, i'd be wanting to avoid that if possible personally.

Implying this hasn't been an ongoing thing for a long time now... Most recently however, there's a clear case of it with that inquiry board in the EU that was holding discussions about lootboxes and their legality. EA bought off most of the board, causing legislation against lootboxes to fail in the EU.

steam doesn't require lootbox odds disclosure nor does it appear they are involved in the ESA initiative to push for disclosures

microsoft/sony will require disclosure in the future (looks like the end of 2020 is the tentative date) but only for games on their platforms

as of right now there's no legal obligation for little orbit to disclose any odds, please record your lawyers laughing you out of their office im sure we could all use a good chuckle

You should have consulted a lawyer before spouting off. Would have saved you from looking foolish.
