  1. Heavy Enforcer bias already in the district, so anyone who's worried about not getting in might wanna try a Crim.
  2. I know it's a 'small gesture' that can be delivered at any time, I alluded to that in the very post you've quoted when I said it won't take any dev time and has no downside for the community. Yet you're going to the trouble of complaining about it being done before the EU and core fixes anyway? Seems a very minor thing to get caught up on. At least that's what it looks like when you 100% agree with someone who says he won't play the game at all until the EU is done and asks LO not to focus on things we don't want in the thread about the event. So again, should they just stop doing anything at all until the EU is done?
  3. Okay , so we're back to "don't do anything until the EU is done!", are we? How long will that fly before people swing the other way and come out with "well EU is going to be useless without content". This isn't like RIOT which required serious developer time to implement. The Devlar code already exists and there is basically no downside for the community on this one, but no, all we can do is whine about it. And I wouldn't mind, except when we get news on the EU progress, there's even more bitching cos it doesn't look like RTW.
  4. Okay, so we've been suffering by virtue of the fact that the game's core architecture is a decade old and the EU is supposed to address this and give the developers a modern base to work from, but we should test it on hardware that was shit when the game was in closed beta 9 years ago?
  5. Lowbie blatants spiked a bit when PB was turned off cos as flawed as it was, with no client side anti-cheat even the most basic free cheat was able to get through and wait for FF to take a small ice age to figure out they were cheating and ban them. It just carried on at that rate when LO took over until they implemented BattlEye. As for FFCancer, sorry, FFBans, even aside from any false bans, or G1 using FF to broadcast a ban that wasn't for cheating, the 17000+ unique bans there wasn't actually 17000+ unique people. Film was banned over 200 times that we know about, for example.
  6. A thread with 'proving vids' was tried many years ago back when Neume (remember him?) was in charge of G1. The thread did well for a week or so, with Admins replying to obvious vids to say the cheater had been 86'd, before it quickly devolved into butt hurt people posting "proof" that amounted to them being shot by a good player with nothing suspicious going on - think Ray Taylor. After a month, Neume and Revoemag got bored of saying "that isn't proof of cheating" and closed the toxic waste dump the thread had become. As for cheating in general, APB is now on it's 4th different anti-cheat software (not including anything internal) and we're still constantly discussing cheaters in this game. I've genuinely never seen anything like it. So either: A) We're all paranoid and significantly less cheating goes on than we think. B) Something unique to APB makes it hard for software to detect all but obvious cheating in a timely manner, be it the game design, or fundamental vunerabilities in the spaghetti code. If it's the latter, the EU might potentially fix it.
  7. Why is this worthless, cancerous shitpile of a thread still here? Oh yeah, cos most of the forum is a cancerous shitpile.
  8. So, just played a RIOT round. Ended up with two areas left, both being camped by a 4 man team, plus the 3 man team I was on. One of the areas had a RIOT device in it and the other didn't, but of course the team with the RIOT device didn't arm it, cos then they'd have had to leave their little hidey-hole. Me and a team mate tried to evict the team in the final area, but weren't successful due to be being outnumbered (did kill 2 of them, but they had respawns), and then I was the only one with any lives left on my team. I ended up spending a good 10 minutes hiding behind a barrier until the last RIOT device finally armed itself in the hope the last 2 teams would more or less kill each other and I'd be able to waltz in and pick up the pieces. Spoiler alert: I was ultimately unsuccessful. Well, it was either that or try and 1v4 my way to victory. 10/10 Best game-mode ever.
  9. Irrespective of who uses macro crutches and their legality (spoiler alert: fire rate macros should be bannable and anyone who says otherwise is wrong, it's as simple as that), he was wrong with the logic because he said that he still had to aim with the triggerbot, making it just an aid. But he actually didn't really have to aim, because when he was using it, he just wiggled his crosshair around the target and let the triggerbot fire when he was on target. That's not really aiming. That's effectively a low FOV aimbot.
  10. You mean his buddy who dethreated to green?
  11. AFAIK, you can't change your character's gender.
  12. Talk about being a like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "Twitching my crosshair around an opponent and using the bot to fire only when on target and thus landing 100% of my shots is just an aid!!!" And, of course G1, being G1, didn't ban him. Although they did boot him out of SPCC, if I remember correctly.
  13. Hmmm... wonder will they do another server merge.
  14. Key word enlarged. Unfortunately, I'm at the stage where I wouldn't believe the majority of APB's playerbase if they said rain was wet.
  15. It's an actual boat now and not a giant white boat shaped prefab. Nice.
  16. I again fail to see how this is different from the game in general. Premade groups always have had an advantage over solo players in APB and always will. Ideally, RIOT would be seperated into a queue for solos and for groups but the pop won't support that. I'm solo playing currently, but I don't see why people who have mates to group with should be told they can't because it's not fair on me. Should we remove grouping from the game entirely? Or water everything down to the point where groups are irrelevant?
  17. A territory control district is definitely something I want. I'd make it even more like PS2 and have the district run persistently rather than reset after a certain period of time (although I concede this may not be viable). I'd also try and keep it to the two faction split rather than run 3 randomly grouped teams. Might need three for game balance a la Planetside, but I'd still at least try the two. I know the map's for illustration purposes only, but I assume the idea is to have the map broken into more zones than that?
  18. I wouldn't argue with separating groups and single players in RIOT, except as you said, there's an issue with population. It can't support it, Citadel seems to be only running one RIOT instance at a time. (We could also get into the greater debate about whether there's population to support additional game modes at all) Setting that one instance up so that people can't play with their mates cos it isn't fair on solo players isn't the answer in my opinion.
  19. Regarding the "Premade groups with comms are too powerful" complaint: Well of course they are. This is a PvP MMO isn't it? Premades have an advantage over PUGs everywhere in the game and that's just the nature of online PvP. Get a clan or some mates if you're not happy (coming from someone currently not in a clan, btw). Whilst I don't care for RIOT particularly, I don't want APB to get like Star Trek Online where everything was watered down to accommodate PUG play.
  20. If they did that, other people would complain: "EnGiNE upGRaDe Is UseLeSS wiTHOUt nEw KhaNtEnt". RIOT should be judged on it's own merits, not against the EU. Spoiler alert though: it hasn't got many. 1) Starter weapon: The FBW has too much of a skill curve. It's a peashooter in the hands of a newbie and hand-cannon in the hands of a veteran or a macro user. Whilst it is a big improvement on the snub nose in the sense that any reasonably decent player now has a notional chance of defending themselves on a pistol start, I think it might be worth trying one of the Nano variants. 2) Distances from riot codes on initial spawns. Considering you need these things to engage in the game mode early on and earn money, I shouldn't find myself 400m away from them one round and 80m the next. Cos I can only assume that the round where I was 80m away, someone else was 400m away and, considering you have to buy weapons and pay for respawns, started at a disadvantage. 3) Late game spawns. Spawning so deep in a gas field that you'll be hit with a minimum of 50% health loss is quite common which results in chain deaths as mentioned above. I could sort of accept that as part of the game mode, except other times I've spawned late on and easily gotten to the last area without damage. Like part 2, the issue is lack of consistency. Sometimes it fucks you, other times it doesn't. 4) This is subjective, but it's honestly kinda boring. I find I'm trying to sneak around and generally avoid getting in gunfights, unless I get the drop on someone, early on to store up cash for a late push. Let's say you've bought your primary and subsequently get killed - that's basically a loss of $1500, plus respawn cost, plus half your remaining money picked up by the opposition player. You might only get one more shot after that hit (esp. if you were 400m away from the nearest riot code at the start and had problems building money). So of course I don't want to start risking my neck until late in the round. With half the district probably thinking like this, there isn't a proper fight until right at the end. tl;dr - I think it promotes a conservative play style. Maybe the solution to that last one "Get good", cos I'm not exactly the greatest APB player ever to live, but if that's a problem for me, new players, who you are trying to attract with this, are in serious trouble.
  21. Yep, waiting for a match in Citadel now. Really thought I'd get to give it a try for more than one day, but oh well. I can't say I'm that surprised.
  22. Yeah I was in all of these too. Although I got bored of Blacklight and Tribes well before they died. Dirty Bomb is the biggest shame on the list, imo, very well put together, solid mechanically, and good fun when you got an even match. A little too much emphasis on the quality of your medic(s), but otherwise balance between mercs was good. Matchmaking (or lack thereof) really killed it though. At least half the matches I played were complete kerb-stompings one way or the other, and the competitive ranked matches never had a sustained interest. The last time I played it, I went something absurd like 45-4 just by sitting on a turret. I occasionally used it as evidence that removing threat from APB's matchmaking wouldn't actually improve things. Still at least it can still be played, even if Splash Damage aren't working on content for it anymore. First Assault's problem was that took a very deep IP and made an unremarkable and somewhat brainless shooter out of it. Not going to appeal to FPS fans cos there are better shooters and not going to appeal to GitS fans because it just had a superficial GitS paintjob (the US servers are labelled American Empire!!) and didn't really make much use of the universe. I wonder what state Planetside 2 is in these days...
