just a technical question for @MattScott will APB get raytracing (unlikely I think) or DLSS (more likely) in the future (perhaps with the unreal engine 4 upgrade that's being worked on)? and - have you even considered implementing this new tech ever since the RTX series got released? some additional text that can be ignored: about raytracing - for Battlefield V it's unfinished and still getting developed... it's a huge performance impact (even though with some other options turned down from ultra, it's running fine) and also has some little errors (like some bushes or FX not properly getting traced in the reflection of the water, but that's just a small problem). about DLSS - well, it's pretty much a performance friendlier anti-aliasing, for the cost of a little bit of sharpness the usual anti-aliasing techniques provide. just watch this video. the difference on screen is minimal (some might not even notice, but the performance improvement is quite big)

yea umm, just dropping by saying that blowtorch being able to repair the toxic barrel stack is way too strong...

ARMAS Store refresh and pricing changes

just a reminder that this is still happening, and should be fixed quickly... it's actually gamebreaking.

yea, with mission phasing we can have back these kind of open world activities... I wish there was more to do in APB than missions / fightclub... checkpoint racing / or dedicated racing district, collectables, occasionally spawning events (like butcher and drugmule for example, but also new ones) and all that jazz... APB is kinda empty, and really needs these openworld activities... in the end, it should be more like an MMORPG than "just a shooter". I'd even go as far and say it would need player-housing and / or something like in warframe with the clan dojos (clan cribs to hang out in and do some activities / trade. would be the ultimate immersion. that would kinda require a whole new APB(2) built from ground up, I guess... or lots and lots of rebuilding for the current game... but hey, that'll never happen because the majority of this community doesn't like change whatsoever...

(yet another) Change Baylan Shipping back to 16v16
Snubnose replied to Snubnose's topic in General Discussion Archive
I'd be ok with that as long as JT's get shifted to action districts or whatever replaces FC lol -
for the love of god, baylan is a hellhole clusterfuck. why was it changed to 20v20 in the first place? spawns were always really bad (lots of spawnkilling), and 20v20 is just way too much chaos. who actually enjoys 20v20? it's ok for asylum since it's bigger and provides more cover (lots of indoor fighting), but baylan is just too open, small and the spawns are badly placed / easy to camp. farming JT's is a pain, I just want a portion of the pain to be reduced.

well, in most cases (depending on resolution and HUD scale), the crosshair looks smaller than it actually is / should be. as you can see in this video, the shots go everywhere around the target, widely outside the crosshair "range". this combined with overall bad server performance (low tick rate) makes everything wonky AF in APB... (I'd recommend watching it with slower speed)

Light dark graphical issues!

I know what you're on about... the bloom in this game is fucking garbage, and turning it off makes the game look super stale.. so you either have bad shaders or no color, lol. it often happens that the bloom overlaps with playernames and therefore it's hard to see if the person is an enemy or friend. example of how cancerous the bloom can be: I hope the visual changes from the engine updated will clear that up a bit... maybe it'll need further tweaking though (alteast for playername visibility / horrible bloom) -
[Fun Pictures] Pedestrians can be weird!

ok, keeping the percentage based upside, but going back to the almost non-existent downside is basically buffing IR3 better than it was in the first place (atleast for every weapon with 30m range and above). I think we may should slightly reduce the fire rate downside, maybe to 10% instead of 18% untill you implement a new downside. (although I'd be fine if the -10% fire rate downside stays, I like the idea)

Halloween costume submissions!

sidenote: I don't know why the backpack glows more green-ish, I used the correct colors. -
true, the above the last link I've sent was actually too late, but I checked and the others were still in the time frame. ohwell... but yea, sorry for going offtopic. on-topic though: I'd still prefer community votes for these kind of events (atleast some times)... I like voting for things also, we really don't have to use all 3 colours, so a pure purple outfit is fine? (going for very dark purple mainly, with some lighter tones ontop)

well, apart from the 3 winners I found atleast 5 other submissions in the comments, even 6 if you count the last one in (even though it only has 1 word related to something sp00ky... "apocalypse") https://imgur.com/a/z2I4Pnm https://imgur.com/a/LQ1s5bj https://imgur.com/a/5O6GXsU https://i.imgur.com/XzED9T7.png https://i.gyazo.com/8c6986524ad7089562153a4588e47571.png https://i.imgur.com/OR9VmQE.png that's a bit more than 5 in total... did you miss some, or did I miss something?

in case people missed it, there was a halloween event hosted on facebook only a few days ago, just with cars... these are the winners: I mean, there were not many people participating, but first and third place are low-effort AF. obviously everyones taste is different but come on, a neon green mikro with just some blood splatter?... I don't know who picks winners on designs, but can we maybe make this a community vote with anonymous participants (so the participants can be anonymous if they want to, just in case some people don't want to upvote cuz "it's that person" even though they like the outfit) so we'd have to send screenshots in some kind of inbox and they'll get posted somewhere for the community to see and vote.

Respawn Protection need to be balanced!
Snubnose replied to TrashCan's topic in General Discussion Archive
true, but that's the only place spawn protection COULD be a problem (it's not really, it's the spawn system iteself that's F'd up)... so yea, point still stands. spawn system needs a rework, the spawn protection ain't the problem. -
Respawn Protection need to be balanced!
Snubnose replied to TrashCan's topic in General Discussion Archive
this. the only real occasion where spawn protection could be a problem is fightclub, because fightclub spawns are barely blocked... other than that, the spawn system itself needs a rework, not the spawn protection... -
obviously, what you said would be a really stupid move if we would really have to wait a long wait time between every match.. but that's not how it's planned to be. you don't have to reload the whole district, only the positioning of cars / pedestrians and new players has to be synced, but the level (everything that's solid) is already loaded. also, it's going to happen after the engine update, and afaik, UE3.5 will shorten loadtimes anyway. so most likely, it's going to be a short lag (or like 5 seconds loadscreen at best) just to sync up all the cars / pedestrians and load in the player list (player customization always loads in after you've been connected, so that won't cause any problems).
-
this. right now the pool is too limited, not only because of limited district size, but also because of a small playerbase. you gotta wait untill the cross-district (phasing) matchmaking is going to be implemented... with that, most matches should be balanced out a little bit better (it also needs more strict matchmaking after that though) most likely it's going to be after UE3.5 update... hopefully early 2019. (pretty sure it's high up on the priority list)

true, a proper tutorial is needed anyway, but there are so many weapons, new players couldn't keep up and most people don't wanna go back to the tutorial to check it out again (most would probably skip the tutorial cuz "hurr durr I want action"). so changing hitmarkers would help all the time, without having to check on your weapon / tutorial again, it's just instantly... it sure as hell takes away a nice chunk of the super steep learning curve APB has, which is needed for new players to come in and stay. edit: also, a tutorial system feeds new players quite a lot of information, most can't keep up with that much and would have to check again and again, so "instant" help / indicators are always welcome
