Because cheaters are paying customers -
So when do we revive APB?
Wasted_Potential replied to VanilleKeks's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
I didnt play this game via steam until 2013 or even 2014 and at that time population was at a steady decline. Saw no reason to play it via steam when I could play without it. -

Wasted_Potential replied to VanilleKeks's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
A lot of ppl used to play via G1 launcher, hell, at first the game wasn't even available on Steam. While I personally never seen 20 k/server I have myself seen 10-11 k+ on EU1 in like 2011. Later in 2012-2013 population dropped and EU1 about 7 k players while EU2 had 3 K and it all went down the gutter since. Late 2012 to 2013 is when the game's performance degraded with every patch to the point where me and some of my friends quit due to simply being unable to run the game at satisfactory performance. I remember this clear as day. What didn't help is that all the cheaters get unbanned every time. How many unban waves has there been? 3? Every singe one was unbanned and free to cheat again. Hell under G1 cheaters even got free premium after being unbanned lol. -
Previous match making was much better

I believe he is the one with terrible WiFi. I expected more of you than to tease someone considering you used to play with like 17 fps and have first hand experience being hardware limited, you know how fair and fun the game can be under such circumstances. And the game itself has gotten only harder with the ever shrinking population. Most people playing this are hardened veterans with years of experience and usually good hardware to back them up. Back when you struggled a lot of people had terrible PCs that were having a hard time with this unoptimized game and playing on cheap $10 mouse was the norm, Now even modern midrange PCs can get decent enough performance and almost everyone is flying flagship Razer or Logitec mice. Nowadays I've seen "silvers" that play with the same abilites of what mid golds used to look like. I've seen my friends that used to be perma gold drop to high silver with how strong some of the opposition is. -
Intel ARC B580 GPU - APB Reloaded
Wasted_Potential replied to Uhtdred's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
No worries. Another issue discovered I have. When customizing vehicles, swapping car parts and changing color seems fine but if I start messing with symbols, adding rotating them etc the game quite often crashes and I am presented with a send/don't send report button. I have not yet tested clothing but I imagine the result will be the same. My current workaround is not change symbols on the B580, if I need to do that I fire up my old laptop with GTX 1050 Ti, not ideal nothing I can do until this gets patched if ever or a fix emerges... Edit: found a fix for this too, mentioned in the comment below. -
Intel ARC B580 GPU - APB Reloaded
Wasted_Potential replied to Uhtdred's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
Ave, you are in luck. I've tested two PCs running Win 11 with two different Intel Arc B580 cards one being the reference model and the other being a Sparkle OC model. Both PCs were using midrange Ryzen CPUs, one was using Ryzen 5 7600X and the other was with the 7600 non X. With maxed graphics @1440p the game is an unplayable stuttery mess that eventually led to CTD. There was also some kind of weird faint shadowy artifact on the left side on the screen, most visible when driving a vehicle and looking at the ground (found a a fix: disable ambient occlusion and it goes away!). Naturally such things are expected when buying a GPU from a new player in the GPU market but considering how good of a value this card is when you can get it at or close to MSRP I've decided to accept such risks. I've decided to mess around with the configs just to test a what if scenario and was blown away with what I ended up with. My game went from being unplayable to smooth 160-320 fps with maxed graphics @1440p (no AA as that really hurts fps for whatever reason). Having messed around with configs in the past with minimal gains on older PCs I would be extremely skeptical if someone claimed such massive gains but the words I speak are true. Credit to jmiIos for originally discovering this. Source: https://web.archive.org/web/20230318201509/https://forums.gamersfirst.com/topic/19594-engine-upgrade-just-went-live/ What I did: There are more settings to mess around with but I did not touch the others as these seem to do give the most benefit. If you've never messed around with configs you will need to launch the game from APB.EXE and not from the launcher. Also consider setting a high fps cap as in my case I was sliding around 1 m as soon as I stopped and reached the fps cap of 170, and when I increased it to 300 fps I would start sliding 10 m at a time. I've set the fps cap to 500 have have not slid since. Visually the game is unchanged from max graphics, however the previously mentioned faint shadowy artifact still remains, this seems to be an Intel specific bug and so far I've seen it on 3 B580 cards that were used to play this game. To conclude you might not get a better experience using this card to play APB but you will easily be able to run modern titles such as Cyberpunk. On a side note if you are one of those people who never turns off his PC consider restarting it before your APB session at least as one of my friends had some weird stutters in APB that were fixed by restarting his PC (B580 card and a 13th gen Intel i7). -

If LO felt like releasing new content now that means this is as good as it'll ever get for APB -

Anticheat is pointless if you gonna keep unbanning all of cheaters every couple of years. Might as well remove it entirely and save some money that way - result will be the same anyways and hell maybe that little bit of money saved could have prevented sacking of developers like Secrets that were actually passionate about this mess of a game or what's left of it anyways
-
I guess LO is desperate for players to unban all the cheaters for the 3rd time. G1 gave out free premium as a compensation when unbanning. Will LO award cheaters too?
-
>Second chances More like 4th chances 3 time this has happened. All cheaters got unbanned for the 3rd time. What a fkin joke. No wonder everyone cheats in this game. Absolute joke Might as well remove the anticheat and save some money that way, results will be the same anyways

APB Reloaded Console Sunset
Wasted_Potential replied to MattScott's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
This should boost pc playerbase by a bit but I don't think it will do much given game's current state, especially once ex-console players get matched against veterans who are playing since 2010 or opposition that never miss any shots. -

I miss the OLD APB :(
Wasted_Potential replied to Rolhen's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
I'd kill for "classic" 2011 apb servers. Something what runecape did with it's "oldschool" servers. Funny how the old version of the game now has 10x amount of players. Maybe this could revive or at least bring back some players to apb. I'd be fine with leveling a new char and not having any armas items there... As a bonus 2011 apb ran at a steady 100 fps on my old patootie pc. I'd also kill for a true 2006 or even 2005 version of runescape too -
Support tickets being ignored
Wasted_Potential replied to MistyRayne's topic in Social District (General Discussion)
Wrong. Test it out yourself. Send letter w/ attached legendary from one char to another. Don't even need to read the letter. It will say expires in 30 days. Attachments from marketplace don't expire but letters with attachments from one player to another do. 0 logic. -
