Symbols are insane money makers. Once made, they can be duped and sold infinitely. If you do the full MP stock thing you can make millions ez all while playing the game as you wish. It's almost passive income.

If you are just losing gold naturally while in silver dist, that's just going down in threat here is nothing wrong with that. I would encourage you to stay in silver, but so long as you aren't gaming the system, you should be fine.

If you only hear one annoying death theme, just put the player on ignore.
